aldara

Avatar m tn i have been on aldara for about a month now for anal hpv warts. i had them cauterized last feb 8 and the doc put me on aldara for 3 months. my questions are: 1, does the cream cause a bit of itch even when it's been washed off or just when it's on? 2. i noticed what lookes like a "cut" near the perinem .around the anal opening..sort of like a small sore.. is that a side effect of the cream?
Avatar n tn About a week ago I noticed that two warts were back and my doctor said to continue use of Aldara. I was wondering how long Aldara takes to get rid of warts and when they do go away, how often may the warts reappear?
Avatar m tn dont use aldara. I think ACV even does better than aldara although some people here would disagree with my opinion. You can get mini surgery like electrocauterization, cryotherapy, or use podofin and its variants. These three, afaik, are better than anything else to treat warts.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on Aldara, but I am having SERIOUS side effects. It says for me to put it on the area once a night before I go to bed, but I started having redness and irritation. I thought that just meant that it was working, so I was off it for a day and went back on it for 2. It happened again, so I went off it for 2 days. Then I went back on it and tried to stay on it, hoping that the cream would help somehow, and the sores just kept getting bigger.
Avatar n tn I am being treated with Aldara for HPV and I know that there is some redness and pain associated with the treatment, but I am having a very painful reaction. It is on the inner labia, not where I put the cream - however, I am sure some of the cream may have transfered there. It is red, was only slightly itchy early in the day, and by the afternoon it hurt very bad to the touch. It is almost like an open sore maybe, but it doesn't look like a sore, it just feels... raw???
Avatar m tn you should apply petrolium jelly (vaseline) or some other moisturizer to help your pain relief and... stop using aldara without talking to your dermatologist first...
Avatar m tn hey im a 20 yr old male. i used aldara for genital warts and it has only made my life worse. i used it for about a month and a half and been off it for about 2 weeks. anyways it did not diminish my warts AND MOST IMPORTANTLY my penis is STILL really red and with a burning sensation and sensitivity down the shaft and base (which is not even where i applied the drug!). I have tried vitamin E oil but have now stopped cuz idk if it helped or made it worse......
Avatar n tn I've had my 4th treatment, and I'm not having fun. Within 24 hours after teatment I am crying in pain, muscle aches, joint pain, my skin over my whole body hurts. I also have vaginal itching, burning, but its not that bad. I also am having nausea, with upset stomach and vomiting. About 48 hours after the treatment, i begin to feel better. Are these symptoms normal? Is there anyone else out there being treated with Aldara vaginally? I cant find any information online about using it this way.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor what she suggests to help treat the tissue that has been affected by this burn. To help relieve the pain, take an OTC pain reliever like acetaminophen or ibuprofen meanwhile. I hope you get some relief soon, Take Care!
Avatar f tn Is there any link to aldara stopping your menstral cycle? Just used stopped using it and haven't had my cycle since I used it. Since July 2 I haven't had any menstration. My boyfriend has a vasectomy (14 years). I have taken like 5 pregnancy tests (all negative) and I'm looking at the calender and its been 9 weeks since any kind of flow. I haven't used it in 2 weeks. Im not on the pill, dont have any STIs (neither of us - tests came back).
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Aldara for GW and used it twice, as directed with a day in between. The side effects, fever/chills and pain were horrible, almost unbearable, so I stopped using it. Now I have these sores in the vaginal area that sting and burn to the point that walking and even sitting up is painful. I'm wondering if I can put bacitracin on them to heal them faster, or is there something I can use for healing and the pain?
Avatar n tn Hey, I've been using Aldara for about a little over a month, and within the last couple weeks I noticed some pronounced red areas. They seam to have gotten slightly larger. But there's been no cracking/blistering or really much irritation (maybe slight). I haven't experienced any of the other flu like symptoms or pain associated with HSV. Is this something I should be concerned with? What else should I take note of?
Avatar n tn I was just prescribed Aldara cream for my genital warts and have a couple of questions. 1) My doctor told me to apply the cream all over the shaft of my penis & around the scrotum area - in order to help treat sub-clinical warts. Everything from the instructions on the cream to my reading on the internet says "apply directly to the warts and avoid contact with skin around the warts" What is your advice?
Avatar n tn This is no question but rather a clarification. I have been using aldara for about a month and a half, and judgeing by the topics, several others need some guidence. I caught Molluscum contagium, maybe from the gym, maybe from sex who knows, who cares. I noticed some very small hybrid of pimples and warts in my gentital area. So of course, like most of you, I freaked. I am a healthy 21 year old male who has had a fairly modest sexual life (less than 10 partners, no one night stands).
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any bad reactions to using Aldara cream for warts? I'm into my second week to using the cream, and I the pain is getting so bad. It's burns, stings, itches, it's red and swollen, hurts when I go to the bathroom, etc. It feels best when I lay flat and place an ice pak over my shorts. Dr said it's normal, and that's it's working, which I agree....it just HURTS. Also, I am wondering if anyone has tried any natural remedies or changed their diet to boost immune system....
Avatar m tn The doc froze them off then he prescribed Aldara cream. He said that I should put the cream right on the spots that he froze. He said that I did not need to wait for those spots to heal and that I could start using Aldara right away. Is this ok?? Also, I am not quite sure if I have other warts on the shaft of my penis. There are a few other very small bumps that I am not sure of. It is ok to rub the Aldara over these spots even if they turn out not to be warts?
Avatar m tn I used Aldara successfully and never got any redness, pain ,etc. I had a wart under a fingernail once and the Dr prescribed Aldara with a bandage over the finger to keep the medicine on and in two weeks it was gone. Some HPV (genital warts do not respond to Aldara or freezing and must be zapped with a CO2 laser or cut out or burned out with the Hyfrecator (sp?) All people with visible genital warts should have them removed ASAP as they can cause cancer in females AND males.
Avatar n tn A few months later the warts came back and I revisited the clinic and they were frozen once again, but this time I was given 'Aldara' cream to apply three times a week on the warts. I have visited the GUM clinic around four or five times since and been given the freezing treatment followed by Aldara cream and although every time I had the full STI testing this was found to be the only virus I had (or had symptoms for).
Avatar n tn Hello Everyone: I have been taking Aldara cream for just over a month now to treat HPV genital warts. The cream worked successfully on the warts on my anus almost immediately. However, I have a number of other warts around my vagina (mostly on the outer lips) that have been less responsive to the cream. I know that you can use the cream for up to 16 weeks and I have only been using it for 5 weeks, but I'm really nervous about these other warts not going away.
Avatar f tn I've used aldara for genital warts a couple years ago on my vagina, and had a really bad time, because it burned me, and turned my vagina black and blue, and at the same time i contracted a UTI, urinary track infection. After a week of pissing razors, burning sensations, everything dissappeared, even the warts.
Avatar n tn One another suggestion is to apply some moisturizer or petrolium jelly on the skin surrounding the warts while applying the aldara on warts... remember, aldara is to be applied on warts only and should not come in contact with the healthy skin...
Avatar f tn Hi, Aldara cream contains the active ingredient imiquimod. Imiquimod is an immune response modifier. It causes your body to produce more interferon. Interferon is a substance which your body produces naturally to help fight viruses and some skin diseases. Although the exact way that Aldara works is unknown, it is believed to be due to its effects on the immune system.
Avatar f tn so i applied the cream to the small areas and for the first day it was fine but after the second day of applying i have been in so much pain, pain to pee, walk, sit, do anything. i have noticed also one area where the largest wart was (was only small) this area has gone totally white. I am writing to ask if this is normal. I have not applied aldara since as it is too painful and i have jus put on savalon antiseptic cream to help with the burn/itch.
Avatar m tn hi there i have recently been using aldara cream for my anal warts (HPV) I have used it twice so far friday and monday. And today (tuesday) i have been feeling muscle pain, and i guess some kind of fever i feel cold or hot at various times of the day but i can function... but during the weekend i did play soccer and hockey and did sweat a lot and ran a lot.
Avatar f tn I also had red itchy swollen labia, an initial vaginal discharge, anal itching, occaisonal stabbing pain in the back of my legs. My Gyno first said I had dermatitis. However, I had been using DMSO cream which significantly reduced the symptoms by the time I saw her. I was able to keep the itching and redness somewhat under control with the DMSO and other natural products I purchased. But it kept coming back. I fully expected to break out with herpes, but I never did.
Avatar n tn I'd still say it could be a reaction to the Aldara, and how you are using it. You will just need to wait and see what the test results say.
Avatar n tn It was a very small one, hardly visible, so I didn't do much about it. I went to the doctor again 2 months ago and he suggested to use Aldara on it because he didn't keep a nitro gun. I had been using it for about 2 months when I developed this sore on my penis, size of a quater, but not round. There were no blisters but just a sore as if the skin had been peeled off. It was slightly weepy, pink, shiny and had white pus like formation/skin on it.
Avatar m tn I have recently started to use Aldara cream for the removal of genital warts. I thought that this was a simple treatment and followed the doctors orders of applying only 3 times a week. What was not mentioned was the fact that I should wash the cream off after a certain period of time, I assumed that the cream should be left until fully absorbed. This in hindsight was possibly one of the worst decisions I have ever made.
Avatar n tn 1) I have HPV and have been using aldara successfully whenever a new wart pops up. However, this week I had the worst reaction yet to the cream ( I think?!): Itching, burning, painful sores (which scab over in less than 1 day). This has persisted on one side of my body for 5 days now. I am worried that I have herpes. My right lypmh node is swollen as well in my genital area. The redness and swelling has subsided somewhat on the 5th day. Is this too short to be a herpes outbreak?
Avatar m tn I'm using aldara right now too, I am a female but my skin has started burning and bleeding too, I talked to my doctor and he said it's normal.
