I have had horrible cold sores for 14 years. B4 that, nothing. My initial outbreak was on my nose. Huge blister massive facial swelling that led to hospitalization for a month and diagnosed with herpes encephalitis. Since then only massive blisters, size of a plum. Cannot see shape of nose. When out brake frms on my lip it's so large it swells to the bottom of my chin. B4 I would have an out brake once a year, now it's almost every month.
My husband has had a weird infection under his nail for years, it comes and goes. Swollen, gross rash, then normal for a while, then flare.
Awaiting another derm appt.Took acyclovir for a few years prophylactically as occurrences are 3-4 times per month. Went off meds (worry about long term effects) and just bore with it for a few years. I recently began taking Valtrex 500 and it has helped enormously but I have some questions.

I never saw obvious blister, so never got swabbed. I was started on Acyclovir for 10 days and then switched to Valtrex 1 gm twice a day. The fever stopped. But the itching and burning remained, and spread to all over the body. In March, my eyes started itching and pain. My eye MD did not see any lesion in the cornea, and prescribed artificial tear and anti-allergic drops, which were of little help.
She was treated for 14 days with acyclovir and dexamethasone for presumed viral encephalitis. One month later, her temperature had returned to normal, and her mental status and arm strength were normal, although a flaccid paraparesis persisted. One year later, she was able to walk with the aid of a walking frame and sphincter function had returned to normal.

this is to find out about the rehabilitation process or type of exercises which can be advisable for a 10 months old baby girl whose recent MRI shows mild cerebral atrophy with encephalomalacic changes in both cerebral hemispheres. Hi. I had my HSV2 primary otbk (genital) with Meningitis or Encephalitis (never confirmed by tests) '05. high fever, sweats, light sensitive, confusion, stiff neck, flu like symptoms. The stiff neck and fever were remarkable. Initially, I had blisters on my forehead along with my genital otbks. Yr later I wld rarely got g otbks. Instead, I would get g neuralgia and a rash on my skin. The rash looked like clusters of tiny blisters that trailed away.
You are not in mourning for anything except your unprotected sex life ...... for people who get HSV2 it is like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted and have to now do what we should have done in the first place and that is ....played safe and protected ourselves .....
We are all in charge of what we are prepared to risk and for all of us with HSV2 we took the risk of unprotected sex and are now paying the price for that so we have no one to blame but ourselves ...

I don't know what my encephalitis was classified as (you say yours was La Crosse) but I had enceph. when I was 3 and I still get migranes and have some problems with my eyes today. My eyes don't dilate properly and I basically can't see anything when I go out in bright sunlight. I've never had the stiff neck problem but I just wanted you to know that there's someone else feeling your pain in some aspects.
I have a 9 week old puppy that might have hydro encephalitis. I went to my vet last week for vaccines and I asked about him because he has always been a bit off but the vet said everything seemed fine. Sunday he began vomitting and drooling a lot. His lip was kind of twitching and I thought he ate something that was making him sick. The emergancy vet said that he propably has water on his brain and that he was very nasty and aggressive.
