Zyrtec and hydroxyzine

Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec and hydroxyzine

zyrtec

Avatar f tn t actually stand it anymore like a few hours after the itching starts, its hard but stretch it out. Take the Hydroxyzine and jump in a hot shower your itch will stop. Unfortunately it will start back up but you will find that the time becomes longer and longer between pills until your life is back in your hands no more itching. I only had to take 21 Hydroxyzine's out of the 30 pills it took about 45 days. Good Luck hopefully it will cure you. I went thru hell I understand.
503607 tn?1275671579 That was a bit weird I think. There must be something you can use? I guess it depends on the arrhythmia. Some of the allergy meds (especially the old, non-selective ones such as terfenadine and hydroxyzine) can prolong heart repolarization (QT time) and cannot/should not be used with antiarrhythmic drugs or certain antibiotic drugs, or if someone has prolonged QT time on EKG. The sedative allergy meds are most likely to cause tachycardia (I think.. my knowledge about this is a bit low..
Avatar f tn He told me to take one a day but i been taking them for two days and i feel a little better and some has gone away but my hands and feet got very swollen and hurtful. i dont know what it is and its scaring me because I've never been the type of person that has allergic reactions?

478342 tn?1241369352 I made him take the trash out and he was out about 5 minutes and he came back in and was complaining of the itching. It was driving him crazy. His skin was red in very large patches almost covering his body. I am really worried about it because clearly it an allergy to something and if there is such a drastic reaction could it affect is breathing? I had him take a benadryl and a shower. It did help a lot. His isn't as wide symptomatic as yours. Have the Dr.
Avatar n tn I have had a problem with hives all over my body for a month or more now. My hands start to itch first, then the bottom of my feet, then my scalp even the inside of my mouth itches sometimes. I'm a hairdresser and suspect it could be the chemicals and shampoos and products. Or could this be a food allergy? I take a wonderful antihistamine called xyzal. It works really well but when it wears off I'm in trouble.
Avatar n tn Hence, Systemic antihistamines (injection is preferred) and antipruritics such as hydroxyzine or cetirizine against prescription may be helpful. Even addition of corticosteroids has possible benefits. I suggest you to consult dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn In the past week, I have been to urgent care once and the ER twice. I have been prescribed loratadine, hydroxyzine, 6 days of 20mgs of prednisone...the prednisone helped a little, but was back to square one after it ran out. The hydroxizine only helps if I take 30mgs at a time rather than spread out throughout the day. The loratadine seems to do nothing. I ended up back in the ER after a day of being at work and symptoms not going away after being at home.
Avatar f tn He seems really excited to atleast TRY and help me. I am currently taking Singular, Zyrtec, Hydroxyzine,(been on those for 3+ months) and now started Butterbur, Slippery Elm, a probiotic and Royal Jelly (for a week so far( and have ZERO relief! Let week I went to go get a couple of tests so I'm excited to keep ruling things out! In addition I am trying some things I read on the web, for example: Apple coder vinegar (did NOT work, made it worse!!) essential oils Lavender & Lemon.
Avatar n tn Hi, Miliaria, sweat rash or prickly heat, is a skin disease marked by small and itchy rashes. Miliaria is a common ailment in hot and humid conditions, such as in the tropics and during the summer season. It occurs when the sweat gland ducts get plugged due to dead skin cells or bacteria. The trapped sweat leads to irritation or prickling, itching and to a rash of very small blisters, usually in a localized area of the skin.
Avatar m tn I am 13 years old and I was diagnosed with Chronic Urticaria, too, a few months ago. I have had it since about February though. I don't know if you have been treated yet since this post is old, but I'm on a combination of prednisone, Zantac, Zyrtec, zafirlukast, and Hydroxyzine. I don't think there is a cure, but there is help. I'm receiving shots of Xolair which has helped people, but so far it hasn't helped me so I might try Plaquenil. I hope you have gotten better.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried the hydroxyzine for anxiety? I took the pill today and feel weird as heck.
Avatar f tn Non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(zyrtec) and Loratadine(Claritin) may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. You may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement.
Avatar f tn I was originally given Hydroxyzine 50mg and have taken it for about two months. I stopped a few days ago when I was scheduled for an endoscopy and I've been hesitant to start it again. The last time I took it, I had spasms I hadn't had before. My hand actually shook and had major spasms for a few seconds. Is this a side affect of the Hydroxyzine or the Vagus nerve being irritated? I'm so confused and don't know what I should be doing.
Avatar m tn I ended up with Zyrtec during the day and Benadryl at night (check with your doctor) and Gold Bond Lotion (green bottle, red cap) for any other time that I needed it, at night for sure. My doctor said it was the Riba that was causing that. He could lower the dose if it was super bad but we decided I could manage okay.... Good luck!
1648969 tn?1304956740 My 22 month old boy has been getting red bumps that itch really bad for about 5 months now. His doctors have told me all kinds of things from bacterial infections to heat rash, none of them being the problem, I've asked for blood work, which they will not do for some reason(we are switching doctors now and also waiting on a dermatologist appt). In the last month I have had a few people ask if he has chicken pox (it does look like it) and get thier kids away from him.
Avatar n tn s never quite in the same place, and lasts only for about 45 minutes, but it is always over/under one of my lips and is quite painful during the duration. The fact that it occurs sometimes when I wake up before I have ingested anything seems to rule out an allergic food reaction (to me at least), and the fact that it sometimes occurs when I'm simply driving or sitting in class seems to rule out a bug bite or something of the sort.
Avatar f tn Well...the Hydroxyzine DID work out for me, and I know it's not addictive, but now that I am clean and sober, I have such a strong affinity for popping pills. I used to take pills like Valium, and Qualudes, and cross-tops,in my teens and twenties, so I have a bad association with them. We even used to call the Speed we did,"antihistimines"...so I hear that word, and I'm like, "no thanks", and do the white knuckle thing, like I've done for years.
Avatar f tn Well, due to the steroids, no lab work for 2 weeks, no patch test or skin test for 4 weeks. I was told to taky hydroxyzine 1-4 pills a night and zyrtec in the morning and at 3pm. I am still having more hives. Please help, I do not know what I can do. Nothing has changed, no detergents or anything.
Avatar f tn I am on Fluocinonide ointment, Hydroxyzine 20 mg at night, and Zyrtec 10 mg. in am. This combo works. It is gradually clearing up the rash and the ointment stops the itching.
Avatar f tn I had to get some prescription meds (fluocinonide ointment to apply, hydroxyzine tabs. for the itching (bedtime), clobetesol liquid for my scalp itching, and Zyrtec for am (zyrtec is over the counter, or I could use claritin for am). The prescription meds are working whereas the over the counter meds had stopped being effective. I had a derm consult too and she prexcribed the hydroxyzine, the clobetesol, and more of the fluocinonide cream.
Avatar n tn I was also advised to take Zyrtec and wondered if Zyrtec had any more benefit for skin reactions thank Claritin. Claritin didn't help at all. Two dermatologists suggested Zyrtec over Claritin . I hesitate to try the Zyrtec as I took it once a few years ago and promptly feel into a deep sleep. If it is better for the skin than Claritin can it be taken at night and do any good? Your help is greatly appreciated. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn I went to see my doctor today about a rash that has come up in a few places on my body and about my constant itching EVERYWHERE! Well he prescribed me a cream that isn't really helpful and Hydroxyzine Pamoate which is generic for Vistaril but I'm scared to take it as it is a used as a sedative and to treat anxiety....I'm just curious if there is anyone who has taken this?
Avatar f tn I have tried several antihistamines including, vistaril, benadryl, loratadine, chlorhexidine, zantac and zyrtec. I have also tried Lyrica. I have put every moisturizer, oil, and remedy I can think of on my skin. I have changed my hygiene products, soaps, laundry soap. Nothing has helped. I do not have dry skin. I have tried taking cooler showers. I don't know what else to do. I have been referred to Cleveland Clinic, but I am unable to afford to see a doctor there.
