Truvada and hep b

Common Questions and Answers about Truvada and hep b

truvada

Avatar m tn I am diagnosed with chronic Hep B and on Truvada for more than 5 years now. The disease is under control and virus is almost undetectable. I am going on business trip to a country where Hep B vaccine is a requirement for the visa. Can I take Hep B vaccine? Will it cause me any harm? Will vaccine interact with Truvada and have any side effect? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thnaks.
Avatar m tn Actually it is reverse, hep d usually clears if one gets infected at the same time with hep b and hep D, and stays chronic if one gets it on the top of the allready present (estabilished) hep B chronic infection. Thanks for sharing the advice from pisa researchers.
Avatar n tn I am a hepatitis B patient currently taking the HIV anti-viral drug Truvada. My hep B is very controlled right now and its viral loads undetectable. I was wondering if my situation suggest a possible infection and whether Truvada can possibly influence the symptoms somehow.
Avatar m tn I think I saw a commercial for it and it said side affects can happen if you have hep b
Avatar f tn Well, my hep b viral is slowly going down but my liver enzymes is slowly going up. My Dr is really concern and constantly doing blood work on me. I'm about to get a kidney and hiv panel. I've been researching online and it says viread can increase liver enzymes and eventually people have to switch to a new med. my question : what other meds out there like viread and can viread increaSe my liver enzymes. Thank you!!!
Avatar n tn Hi all, I was born with Hepatitis B and has been living with it for 25 years. After I started working, a doctor refer me to see a specialist and she suggested me taking Truvada to treat my Hep B. I have been taking it for almost a year now and it's been showing improvements. (Before I started, I have been having infections for awhile). Though, I can't find any result on how people react to Truvada.
Avatar m tn that's the worst drugs, it makes hbv mutations that make almost all drugs useless and hbv escape mutants that infect vaccinated people too that shi* is not an hbv drug anymore and should never be used, the same happened with adefovir the only frist line approved drugs from 2009 are: interferon, tenofovir, entecavir and soon truvada, all other drugs makes mutants
Avatar m tn The iPrEx investigators performed hepatitis B serology tests at study entry and again at the time of Truvada discontinuation. People with positive hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg+), or with an isolated hepatitis B core antibody test (anti-HBc+) could enrol if they had no clinical evidence of cirrhosis and their AST and ALT levels, as measured by liver function tests, were less than twice the upper limit of normal and bilirubin levels were at or near normal.
Avatar f tn During my pregnancy I used Tenofovir which is also cat B and my baby is healthy thanks god. I never stopped taking it. I don't know much about Truvada but as long as it is category B, I believe it is fine. Confirm with your dr. Goood luck.
Avatar m tn An international study found the antiviral combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine (Truvada) was most effective in treating younger adult hepatitis B patients with high viral load and normal ALT levels. Doctors historically have not treated this group because there appeared to be no sign of liver damage. However, doctors now know that high viral loads may increase patients’ risk of liver damage and cancer as they age, despite their normal ALT levels.
Avatar m tn it says hep b surface antigen is detected, hep b core antibody is detected, hep b e antibody is detected, antibody to hbv not detected.could someone inform me wether this means that my family member has got acute, chronic or dormant (non active hep b )is present?
Avatar m tn In the documents I have read for various routes of medication for Hep B, I have not come across any correlation between country and effectiveness -- just variations based on the genotype of Hep B. Having said that, I have seen differences in tolerance profiles -- blacks have different thresholds for WBC counts when considering dosage change for peginterferon.
Avatar f tn Now i saw your hbvdna inthe other post and use of truvada was correct, the viral load is too high and both hbv vaccine and hbig may fail if it is not reduced
Avatar m tn My hep B surf antibody was negative, hep B surf antigen was positive, my hep B e antibody was negative and my hep B e antigen was positive. I know that the antibody should be positive and the antigen should be negative so I wasn't happy with the results. However, my surf antibody was "less than 2" when I had it done in August. It's now at a 4. I know that it has to be at a 10 in order for it to be positive for the antibody which will kill the virus.
Avatar f tn If so I would like to know how you are doing with it? and if it is helping your hepatitis b? I have stage 4 kidney disease. My hepitologist just prescribed this med. My labs were not good. He hopes to get the virus under control so I can possibly get a kidney transplant. This would be a kidney from a cadaver donator, someone who had hepatitis b. So I am about to begin my journey. I don't really understand the lab numbers, he said something about 151,000? I am a little confused.
