Avatar m tn Emtricitabine was approved for use by people 18 years old or older, but has not yet been approved for use in younger people. Emtricitabine has not been approved for people with HIV who are also infected with hepatitis B. Some people with HIV had their hepatitis B get worse after they stopped taking emtricitabine. People who have HIV that is resistant to the drug 3TC (Epivir) will almost certainly be resistant to emtricitabine as well. People with kidney problems should lower the dose.

Avatar n tn Thanks for the reply. Would taking a single dose of azithromycin be advisable a week after exposure? I only had the 1g intramuscular shot as noted approx 36 hours after exposure. I've had a mild sore throat but i dont think its related to anything. In terms of briefness it was 2-3 minutes no ejaculation occurred.
Avatar m tn Immune-tolerant patients received tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and/or emtricitabine for 4 years and were followed for another 4 years after treatment cessation. Virological relapse was defined as hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA>2000 IU/mL; clinical relapse was defined as HBV DNA>2000 IU/mL; and alanine aminotransferase (ALT)>2 times the upper limit of normal. Results: In total, 20 patients stopped treatment and were followed up for 206±14 weeks.
Avatar m tn Currently DESCOVY 25mg TAF plus 200mg emtricitabine is alead approved for hiv in the USA and canada. It could well be used for hbv, most likely at 1/2 tablet a day for hbv for patients who do not tolerate viread. the emtricitabine. ..also called FTC, is also used in TRUVADA at the same dose, which is frequently used by hepatologists for patients with a suboptimal response to viread.
Avatar f tn In 2006 i founded that i have hepatitis B+D. Off couse i have a lot of analysis, my TGO and TGP was very high, viremy for hepatitis B and D was present. I started with Roferon (interferon) for 4 months but no result. My big problem was TGO very high (14 * normally). This treatment with Roferon has stoped. Then I started for 1 year with entecavirul 0.5 mg/day, but my analysis still very bad. Then my doctor's said that i have to start a combo treatment with Pegasys and Entecavir.
Avatar f tn 16 days ago Iwa in Thailand and had sex with a sex worker (lady boy) I was a bit drunk, just remember that I had a condom, but cannot tell that for her (can't remember). I was also a reciever. After 40 hours I went to the first clinic and they gave me PEP (TenofovirDF, emtricitabine + lamivudine). The clinic looks very unprofessional, but it was my only chance. I didn't do any hiv or std test, a month before the exposure i had HIV test which was negative.
634590 tn?1293774093 Absolutely vaccinating for Hep A is just an important as Hep B. My vaccination series of three shots that I took last year was a combination for both.
Avatar n tn t do drugs and only have had one partner, my husband. My husband went to his doctor today and told him I was Hep B positive (Hep B core IGM reactive) and would like to be tested. Why would the doctor tell him he didn't need to be tested and that my doctor is most likely wrong? Years ago I use to go to my husband's doctor but haven't for several years. I think he should have encouraged him to get a test. My husband left the office without a test.
Avatar f tn I have Hep C and am currently getting treated. A number of years ago, I got vaccinated for Hep A & Hep B - I got all the vaccinations according to schedule. I recently asked my doctor to confirm my antibodies, and the results came back only for Hep A. The Hep B did not take. Is this unusual? I will want to repeat the Hep B vaccinations, and am wondering if there is anything I can do to make sure that it will work this time? Thanks.
29837 tn?1414534648 Hep A is food borne. Hep B is transmitted like HIV. The odds of getting Hep B through food is pretty low. Lots of other ways to get it though.
Avatar n tn found out 2 yrs ago that Im chronic Hep B positive. Most likely got it at birth...E antigen negative with a low viral load around 1250. Always have had good numbers with liver. Antigen has been negative for the 2 yrs Ive known ive had this and viral load not fluctuating. Staying about the same give or take a hundred or two. I read Hep B is very contagious. What I dont understand is when the wife was tested she wasnt even found positive for even being infected or ever in contact with it..
Avatar m tn My husband is getting laid off and will lose his insurance. He has Hep. B and will have to go off Baraclude. I am very nervous for him. Has anyone had this experience of having to go off their medication for a period of time? What happened?
Avatar f tn I had protected sex with a guy status unknown. Condom didn't break. Would I get Hep B from this exposure? Please help!
Avatar m tn let her complete all the three doses. few docs say it is safe after getting vaccinated. check for her immunity against hep b. if she has got immunity against it then she is more safe. talk to your doctor take medication properly. patients of your age will get well soon. Dont be panic take care.
