t have enough time to try a long process alternative medicine. On monday I began my radioactive iodine treatment and I feel alot better then I was feeling and it has been only 4 days. My only problem is not being able to see my son and my family but hopefully I made a great decision for my future.
Alternative therapies, not recommended. However adjunct or 'complimentary' therapies are widely used. I have researched and believe in the following:

The natural treatment for cancer is extremely complicated, and requires a lot of discipline and courage. Herbs won't cure it; it would be a combination of cleansing, nutrients, diet, herbs, etc. If you're seriously considering this, your first stop should be the bookstore, the next a naturopath or two or three and a couple of holistic nutritionists. You might try starting by contacting the Ann Wigmore Institute in Florida.
So she decided to change the doctor and the kind of medical treatment. About two months she didn’t have any treatment, because she was put under different examinations in order to find another treatment. About 10 days ago it was found out, that she has two metastases in the brain. A surgery is now also impossible. So she is making now radiotherapy to the brain metastasis. But at all she lost a lot of weight and doesn’t have appetite. She is also breathing very hard and coughing a lot.
For example, the standard for cancer cure is five year survival, but if you die of something other than cancer which may very well have been caused by the treatment it goes down as a successful treatment. If you get cancer again in the sixth year, again, a successful treatment. If you get a different type of cancer or die of pneumonia from the treatment, again, a successful treatment.
Surgery is currently the only tested treatment option to cure papillary thyroid cancer. Most people can be cured by surgical removal of the thyroid gland. She has not yet fully recovered from the recent surgery although she is able to move around to some extent at home. I was thinking of trying alternative treatment, aside from a lot of prayers.

If you are looking for a true *CURE*, you are going to waste your time with *any* alternative (and often conventional) treatment depending on your stage and cancer type. The use of things like Haelan 951 and other remedies are often recommended as adjunct (alternative methods used in conjunction with conventional treatment) treatment.
Now Haelan 951 has research behind it all over the place, including one study that relates directly to ovarian cancer.
I know that nothing is guaranteed, but from what others have told me about the standard treatment (Interf/Riba.) it seems like this treatment would be a living nightmare. What about the new study out of Mass. Univ. (2/08) that suggests grapefruit (narengin extract) may help to cure this disease? Does Milk Thistle help to reduce the symptoms? I have developed Angiomas on my lower leg, and I have bad headaches. Are these symptoms of the disease, and has this happened to anyone else?
I don't comment on here much, but had to respond to this thread. While I don't think alternative medicine is by itself a "cure" for advanced cancer, I strongly believe in its effectiveness, along with traditional approaches. I was diagnosed with stage IIIC ovarian ovarian cancer in October 2007, and I am still in remission with a ca-125 of 7. Soon after diagnosis when I was feeling depressed, a friend introduced me to a friend of hers who is a survivor of breast cancer.
I know that the biopsy results will be crucial in determining the suitable treatment that should be given, but wanted to ask anyone who has either had experience with secondary liver cancer, or who is familiar with any alternative medicinal approaches (not instead of, but in tandem with conventional approaches like chemotherapy etc) to help.
I was just diagnosed with Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia, and I'm wondering if anyone has found alternative methods for eradicating or treating ADH? I'm going to see a surgeon and an oncologist, but don't want them to be the only sources of information.
As mentioned from the other post, while sodium bicarbonate is promoted by some alternative practitioners as a cancer management. treatment, this clam is not supported by clinical evidence and is contrary to widely-accepted basic facts of oncology and microbiology. I developed a bad sinus infection during the last week of November. I sought treatment and began antibiotics December 3rd. On the evening of December 4th my tongue suddenly hurt as if I had one of those "acid bumps". I looked in the mirror and finally detected a lump within my tongue. It isn't visible from the top or bottom really. The only way I can tell it's there is by feeling it with my fingers or trapping it between my top and bottom teeth.

I don't think it is a good idea for people to "make things up as they go along" like that, because it tends to confuse people and to impede effective communication by deviating from the published and widely accepted stages used throughout the medical and survivor communities.
