Avatar f tn Alternative therapies, not recommended. However adjunct or 'complimentary' therapies are widely used. I have researched and believe in the following: Maitake D-Fraction Coenzyme Q-10 (CoQ10) Genistien & I3C (Soy Isoflavones / Dark Green Vegetables) Turmeric Omega 3 (Fish Oil I have some articles I've written on them on my website; access via my profile page on medhelp. Let me know if you have any questions!

Avatar n tn The natural treatment for cancer is extremely complicated, and requires a lot of discipline and courage. Herbs won't cure it; it would be a combination of cleansing, nutrients, diet, herbs, etc. If you're seriously considering this, your first stop should be the bookstore, the next a naturopath or two or three and a couple of holistic nutritionists. You might try starting by contacting the Ann Wigmore Institute in Florida.
Avatar m tn So she decided to change the doctor and the kind of medical treatment. About two months she didn’t have any treatment, because she was put under different examinations in order to find another treatment. About 10 days ago it was found out, that she has two metastases in the brain. A surgery is now also impossible. So she is making now radiotherapy to the brain metastasis. But at all she lost a lot of weight and doesn’t have appetite. She is also breathing very hard and coughing a lot.
Avatar f tn For example, the standard for cancer cure is five year survival, but if you die of something other than cancer which may very well have been caused by the treatment it goes down as a successful treatment. If you get cancer again in the sixth year, again, a successful treatment. If you get a different type of cancer or die of pneumonia from the treatment, again, a successful treatment.
541657 tn?1239208930 Although I haven't gone outside the us I have use alternative treatment. after i finished my chemo for 3 months I had infusions of IV Vit C unfortunatly not covered by insurance so i stopped. I then went to Evanston, Il. to Dr. Keith Block of Block Center for Integrative Cancer Care He is an oncoligist check out his web. Avatar n tn Surgery is currently the only tested treatment option to cure papillary thyroid cancer. Most people can be cured by surgical removal of the thyroid gland. Once the diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer has been made by fine needle aspiration biopsy, surgery is indicated in order to remove the tumor. There are differing opinions among surgeons regarding the amount of thyroid tissue that should be removed from a patient with papillary thyroid cancer.
Avatar f tn It is possible that these nodules are metastases from his base of the tongue cancer. The decision to give or not to give further cancer treatment/s will depend on a lot of things. Consider the age of the patient, risks and benefits of treatment, possible side effects, and end point in making a decision. For now, your father needs the best supportive care he can get. Take care.
Avatar f tn She has not yet fully recovered from the recent surgery although she is able to move around to some extent at home. I was thinking of trying alternative treatment, aside from a lot of prayers. Anyone here has experience with alternative theraphy?
653618 tn?1260603643 Because of poor overall survival in advanced ovarian malignancies, patients often turn to alternative therapies despite controversy surrounding their use. Currently, the majority of cancer patients combine some form of complementary and alternative medicine with conventional therapies. Of these therapies, antioxidants, added to chemotherapy, are a frequent choice. METHODS: For this preliminary report, two patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer were studied.
757137 tn?1347196453 What can I say? Here I am with much improved eyesight. I have gotten to the stage where I can read, with difficulty, normal type without glasses. I can't even remember when I was last able to do that. There are not many trials, and certainly not large ones, for alternative medicine remedies (and I consider "alternative" a misnomer). As you and I know it is because there is no money to fund them. So people do as I do. We try them out if they seem reasonable. I hit it lucky.
Avatar n tn If you are looking for a true *CURE*, you are going to waste your time with *any* alternative (and often conventional) treatment depending on your stage and cancer type. The use of things like Haelan 951 and other remedies are often recommended as adjunct (alternative methods used in conjunction with conventional treatment) treatment. Now Haelan 951 has research behind it all over the place, including one study that relates directly to ovarian cancer.
Avatar m tn I know that nothing is guaranteed, but from what others have told me about the standard treatment (Interf/Riba.) it seems like this treatment would be a living nightmare. What about the new study out of Mass. Univ. (2/08) that suggests grapefruit (narengin extract) may help to cure this disease? Does Milk Thistle help to reduce the symptoms? I have developed Angiomas on my lower leg, and I have bad headaches. Are these symptoms of the disease, and has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar f tn I don't comment on here much, but had to respond to this thread. While I don't think alternative medicine is by itself a "cure" for advanced cancer, I strongly believe in its effectiveness, along with traditional approaches. I was diagnosed with stage IIIC ovarian ovarian cancer in October 2007, and I am still in remission with a ca-125 of 7. Soon after diagnosis when I was feeling depressed, a friend introduced me to a friend of hers who is a survivor of breast cancer.

Avatar m tn I know that the biopsy results will be crucial in determining the suitable treatment that should be given, but wanted to ask anyone who has either had experience with secondary liver cancer, or who is familiar with any alternative medicinal approaches (not instead of, but in tandem with conventional approaches like chemotherapy etc) to help.
Avatar f tn I also have the same issue.. I have a white stuff growing on the sides of my tongue Worried it might be oral cancer. Where did you go to get checked up? an ENT? What is the status of the tongue problem?
Avatar m tn I was just diagnosed with Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia, and I'm wondering if anyone has found alternative methods for eradicating or treating ADH? I'm going to see a surgeon and an oncologist, but don't want them to be the only sources of information.
Avatar f tn As mentioned from the other post, while sodium bicarbonate is promoted by some alternative practitioners as a cancer management. treatment, this clam is not supported by clinical evidence and is contrary to widely-accepted basic facts of oncology and microbiology. It is best that you discuss the management plan with your attending physician and ask a referral also for such treatment in your area if possible. Take care and regards.

Avatar f tn I developed a bad sinus infection during the last week of November. I sought treatment and began antibiotics December 3rd. On the evening of December 4th my tongue suddenly hurt as if I had one of those "acid bumps". I looked in the mirror and finally detected a lump within my tongue. It isn't visible from the top or bottom really. The only way I can tell it's there is by feeling it with my fingers or trapping it between my top and bottom teeth.
Avatar n tn ve read that having any crooked or sharp teeth can be risk factors for developing tongue cancer/oral cancer. To boot, found out girlfriend has HPV so I'm sure I've been exposed to it orally (another risk factor). Sigh...
Avatar n tn talk about Stage V when there is nothing more that can be done except palliative treatment.) I also came across a Website for alternative/herbal tx that unofficial stage designation. I don't think it is a good idea for people to "make things up as they go along" like that, because it tends to confuse people and to impede effective communication by deviating from the published and widely accepted stages used throughout the medical and survivor communities. Best wishes...
