Taking adderall with zoloft

Common Questions and Answers about Taking adderall with zoloft

adderall

I am a stay at home mother with three young boys. I have been taking zoloft (100mg daily) for depression for about nine years. The only times I was not taking zoloft is during my second and third pregnancies (and, boy, it was tough). Zoloft has changed my life - and my family's happiness. Just recently I was also diagnosed with ADD. My doc gave me adderall 10mg IR to try.
I was just wondering whether there are any adverse effects in taking both adderall and zoloft. Thanks!
But unless I can stop the zoloft, reducing or stopping the adderall is not an option. And if stopping the zoloft doesn't help?
i actually just started taking adderall XR a couple of months ago and before that i had taken regular adderall at various points. i really really like the XR. with XR, i don't get that 'high' point where i'm moving so fast (mentally and sometimes physically) that i'm about ready to jump out of my skin. XR has a calming effect and one can still see and feel all of the benefits of the regular adderall (high levels of focus, interest in virtually anything, increased motivation).
I have a love/hate realationship with the Adderall. Although I am prescribed 20 mg Adderall XR 3 times a day, I never take all 3 pills a day. Right now I am down to 1 pill a day. I love the fact that the Adderall gives me energy but I hate that after a few days of taking it I feel physically exhausted. I have tried to give up the Adderall but I always go back to it because taking the Celexa alone doesn't work.
I recently discovered that my 49 year old wife has been taking my sons adderall for a year. She has been taking 20mg. per day. She also takes celexa for depression. I am concerned that she is addicted and will have withdrawal problems. I have hidden the adderall from her and she no longer has it available. She relizes that she has a problem and has commited to quit. What are the withdrawal symptoms, how soon after she has quit to they show, how long to they last and how can I help.
hi manda, you sure can be free of anxiety! you know, many patients take adderall with their zoloft, with good results. there are many depression and anxiety forums on the internet. the important thing is to keep telling your doctor how you feel, and after trying that for a while, if you feel your particular doctor is not working for you, try another, and if he doesn't work out for you, then try yet another, then another. there are a lot of fish in the sea. the sea is vast.
I have been taking Celexa and adderall together for about a year now and things have been working great. My only problem has been the sexual side-effects which have made my sex drive almost nothing. Because I entered into a serious relationship within these past couple months my doctor and I started discussing potential drugs that would increase my libido. She suggested Buspar. However, I have only been taking Buspar for two days and feel like it is having a counteractive affect on my adderall.
Like Fladdict and Emilyanne said, this forum is a very supportive place and we would all like to help you in any way we can just please do not try to stop taking this medication suddenly. Speak with your doctor, often patients are gradually taken off of this medication and it can be dangerous to stop suddenly depending on the dosage and how often and any other drugs that are being taken with it. xoxo- D.
To be sure I wasn't just spouting off things, I just checked the drug interactions with Adderall and Paxil and Zoloft, and both were the same.
I'll guess it's the adderall causing the terrible mood swings. I would go with your plan. Just don't take more than 30mgs of Adderall.. and when you cut yourself off do a quick taper so you don't totally crash out. Be prepared to feel depressed and blah for a few weeks..the first week is the worst though..I cut myself off of the stuff and started taking L-Tyrosine and 5 htp and I'm doing much better.
I would later learn that the psychiatrist misdiagnosed me. Taking Zoloft alleviated the depression, but my life began to spiral out of control. Instead of being depressed all the time, my life was became a constant state of "up". I began to drink excessively and in March of 2005, I got a DUI. That same year I also filed bankruptcy. Over the course of 3 years I racked up $33,000 in credit card debt. My life continued to spin out of control until August 26, 2006.
I'm not sure what to do at this point. My wife started taking Adderall about three months ago. She started with 20mg tablets and within a few days she said that they weren't helping her enough so she went back to her doctor and he increased the tablets to 30mg, two times a day. Then after a week, she came home one day and started accusing me of doing things that any logical person would see would be impossible to do without her knowing.
ya, I agree with Louisville. You need to do a bit of research into what ADHD is. To say that something that can have the consequences of ADHD is just "a matter of not paying attention", really shows the need for more information. This is a good place to start: http://www.medhelp.
I have aspergers and zoloft helps me deal with my environment. I can handle noises, changes, and people in general much better now, I do not get angry or phobic so soon any more. So i guess my environment thinks this has improved my behaviour ; ) Just watch it: zoloft has to be started and stopped very carefully, with the help of a physician !
If I could I would go cold turkey from zoloft so I could go right back to taking the adderall. Adderall is the only thing that has EVER made me feel good and like I had the chance at a normal life. It may sound overly dramatic, but it's the only thing that ever gave me even hope. It really felt like a miracle to me and I hope it has the same effect on you. You sound so much like you have felt the way I have, so it wouldn't surprise me if it had the same effect on you.
Hi. I take adderall xr 5 mg daily and zoloft 75 mg daily. What would happen if i decide to smoke marijuana while on these drugs? Can I just not take the drugs that day and take the marijuana and be fine? I know you probably don't advise marijuana but I would really like to know what would happen.
I am on the second to lowest dosage of Synthroid and have been for the past four months. I am also taking birth controll, Adderall for ADD (adult ADD now that im 19), and Zoloft for anxiety. Before synthroid, I was only on 30mg of Adderall but it seemed to basically stop working once I started Synthroid. Now on 60mg of Adderall which is legally the highest ammount you can take and it still doesn't do as much as it used to for me.
Zoloft 200mg, Adderall 20mg, Ambien 10mg. We know I prob need a mood stabilizer, but Seroquel was the only one I could tolerate. It's just no longer worth the risk of falling.
The SSRIs were horrific and I stopped those cause of the side effects but the Adderall was great. I even started taking the XR again in college to help me with concentration and memory. I obtained my B.A. degree and now no longer take the Adderall. Though I still struggle with concentration and memory at times I am living without the Adderall. I take a Benzo for the Anxiety but otherwise I lead a healthy, normal, life. Whatever was "wrong" with me as a kid I outgrew!
Also, school is almost over so I'm not sure why we need Adderall. The PDR says becareful mixing Valium and Zoloft so that makes me nervous too. Any thoughts? He is also seeing a pain/stress management psychologist whom he likes very much. Follow Ups: Re: Zoloft & children HFHS M.D.

I just had a doc appointment today to increase my pristiq (my antidepressant) and was hoping to get on something else to help with my severe adhd. My friend takes adderall and I have taken that before which I found worked awesome for me at helping me focus and what not. However, I am having a hard time getting the doctors to understand my issues. I have been on nine hundred different anti-depressants and nothing really has helped which is why I often relapse back to the opiates.
Ritalin and Adderall should not be used with dopamine antagonists like Risperidone, as far as I know. They could affect heart functions. Also, SSRIs are usually not prescribed with stimulants.
I did do some research on forums and by talking to other patients and some have said taking something like adderall or something similar to that could possibly help. Which I dont want to go into the drs office and say Hey what about some adderall? lol. Seeing as I am truly trying to do the best thing here for my situation, that might not be the answer but maybe that's a step in the right direction.
What are the side effects of taking both zoloft and adderall and smoking weed all together?
) I wasn't getting more than 5 hours of sleep a night so I was continually exhausted and stopped taking my vacations from adderall. I took adderall continuously for about a year and a half to fight my exhaustion before realizing the zoloft might be causing my insomnia. I switched to pristiq and now the insomnia is gone but I became horribly dependant on adderall to the point that, if I went cold turkey on it, I would start vomiting, get shaky, sleep all day and have mental/mood changes.
