I am a stay at home mother with three young boys. I have been taking zoloft (100mg daily) for depression for about nine years. The only times I was not taking zoloft is during my second and third pregnancies (and, boy, it was tough). Zoloft has changed my life - and my family's happiness.
Just recently I was also diagnosed with ADD. My doc gave me adderall 10mg IR to try.
If I could I would go cold turkey from zoloft so I could go right back to taking the adderall. Adderall is the only thing that has EVER made me feel good and like I had the chance at a normal life. It may sound overly dramatic, but it's the only thing that ever gave me even hope. It really felt like a miracle to me and I hope it has the same effect on you. You sound so much like you have felt the way I have, so it wouldn't surprise me if it had the same effect on you.
I'm on Adderall 10 mg tab (not XR) 2x daily for my ADHD but it seems really weak, especially in the morning. I'm also taking generic Zoloft at 75 mg a day in the morning with breakfast simultaneously with the Adderall. Also, I've been on Adderall before without Zoloft and it seemed to be more effective, though I was on a 15mg morning regimen.When I take the Adderall in the morning with I barely feel a difference, except a very minor dry mouth.
I'm diagnosed with ADHD and depression at 25mg amphetamine tab daily (15 morning, 10 lunch), and 15mg Sertraline every breakfast, respectively. Regarding the ADHD, my psychiatrist told me I should probably take a "pill holiday" with the Adderall every once in a while when I don't study or when I am not doing much work. I tried that once, but I think it somewhat threw off my treatment for depression.
There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
I have a love/hate realationship with the Adderall. Although I am prescribed 20 mg Adderall XR 3 times a day, I never take all 3 pills a day. Right now I am down to 1 pill a day. I love the fact that the Adderall gives me energy but I hate that after a few days of taking it I feel physically exhausted. I have tried to give up the Adderall but I always go back to it because taking the Celexa alone doesn't work.
The SSRIs were horrific and I stopped those cause of the side effects but the Adderall was great. I even started taking the XR again in college to help me with concentration and memory. I obtained my B.A. degree and now no longer take the Adderall. Though I still struggle with concentration and memory at times I am living without the Adderall.
I take a Benzo for the Anxiety but otherwise I lead a healthy, normal, life. Whatever was "wrong" with me as a kid I outgrew!
Zoloft is safe to take when breast feeding. I will be taking it. I've been ok off Zoloft while pregnant but my moods are very extreme. You may want to look into natural anti-depressants to take while preg. I've not looked into any. Plus natural doesn't always mean healthy.

Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison.
I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg. 50mg was wayy too much at the time. 30mg was perfect until about a month ago. It lasted about 12 hours, a huge improvement over 4 hours of Adderall IR.
I did do some research on forums and by talking to other patients and some have said taking something like adderall or something similar to that could possibly help. Which I dont want to go into the drs office and say Hey what about some adderall? lol. Seeing as I am truly trying to do the best thing here for my situation, that might not be the answer but maybe that's a step in the right direction.
If you only the twitch in you neck when your anxious than thats just a symptom of you anxiety and not a side affect of the meds. Anxiety/depression causes physical symptoms too. My whole body shakes and I get chills when I feel a panic attack coming on. You may need both and if so thats fine especially if the combination works better for you. You may need the adderall for your ADHD. I don't think Zoloft helps with ADHD but I'm not sure.
m just wondering how long you had or have been on Adderall. A lot of your symptoms are consistent with taking Adderall, especially on 80mg. I took Adderall and after two weeks I was paranoid, thought people were talking about me, police following me, depressed and anxious to the max!! After I stopped it the symptoms slowing got better. Come to find out all those thoughts were crazy and not true. I thank God I stopped that med.
Antidepressants don't have the same effects on everyone, and different antidepressants have different effects on the same person. They are very individual in how they affect you. Adderall is speed, and while speed has long been used for depression, as they say, speed kills. You get used to it and have to keep taking more, and it's hard to stop taking it. It also makes people anxious, and a lot of depressed people are also anxious.
I'm hoping someone here can help, perhaps a Ph.D. or someone with knowledge/experience of medicines--
I have been diagnosed ADHD since I was a little kid (early grade school) and diagnosed with social anxiety at 17yrs old (towards the end of high school). I've been on and off multiple medicines for both (I've been on 5-10 different drugs; see my personal feedback below on some of the meds if you are interested in that information). I also very much think I have OCD.
I was wondering if the Zoloft will help me with the motivation and help me quit feeling the need for the pain meds. If I dont quit taking these meds, I will be worthless my entire life, Im 31 yrs old and recently unemployed. Lost my last job cause i stole money to buy pain meds, feel terrible about it. I dont have the money to enter in a rehab facility, so I came here for help. Also i am ADHD and take adderall 10mg twice a day. Any support or help would be much appreciated.
The question is can you live with the extra anxiety if the adderall is really helping you? The problem with taking an upper (adderall) and a downer (ativan) together is that they will counter act against each other and neither one will be as effective in your system. You said that you were just diagnosed? Is this your first add medication? You may want to consider trying a different one if the adderall continues to give you problems.
20 mg 2 times a day, and was also put on Zoloft. I was wondering what other medications would help with mood problems and anger issues? And what would be the fastest acting medication he could take? His anger issues are not to where he is abusive, just agitated, irritated, and it only takes something small to set it off ie..someone cutting him off in traffic. What advice can you give for us? He is already seeing a psychologist as well.
I got sent to a special school all thru high shool they had me on 30mg adderall 100 mg zoloft every morning total 4 years huge interaction Now it is like 9 years later & I've started taking meds again adderall in the morning 4 my adhd & xanax 4 my anxiety & agoraphobia the drs started me on xanax like 3 years ago & I was on a low dosage until a few months ago when my drs changed I went from having anxiety free full nights sleep with 1mg of xanex but then the dr upped it to 2
