My first question is - is it really safe to take Zoloft and Adderall at the same time? Secondly, how can I get the benefit of both drugs without this tiredness. Should we decrease zoloft, increase adderall, try another ADD med??
I also don't understand how the two interact in my body - don't they do different things?

Well, I would recommend not taking zoloft if you are going to take adderall. Apparently, for some people, there could be a drug interaction between the two causing something called Seratonin Surge or seratonin storm. This happened to me and it was pretty scary (you can do a google search on it to find out more), but I didn't find out what it was until after the episode, as none of the doctors or pharmacists apparently knew of this possibility.
There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
s just really overwhelming to think about how all of this will work out. I also work and unfortunately it is not the type of job you can stop and start up again.
* Please no comments about the adderall being bad for me or anythign like that. I have heard and read it all so I know and I have done my due diligence to make sure this was the best thing for me. I take a low dose and always have and always will. I actually do have adhd and I have gotten several opinions regarding this.
I'm diagnosed with ADHD and depression at 25mg amphetamine tab daily (15 morning, 10 lunch), and 15mg Sertraline every breakfast, respectively. Regarding the ADHD, my psychiatrist told me I should probably take a "pill holiday" with the Adderall every once in a while when I don't study or when I am not doing much work. I tried that once, but I think it somewhat threw off my treatment for depression.
I think that this is your anxiety speaking. Just make sure you go out in groups with people you trust. Don't leave a drink anywhere and don't take anything someone offers you. Remember, you saw this in a movie and I would imagine it was fictional. There are bad people in the world who use drugs to take advantage of people, but if you are a careful person and responsible about where you are and who you're with you'll be fine.
But the point is that it does take trial and error to find what works best - so do let your doctor know what is going on1

I think/hope that once he hits the right time period/amount of meds that he/you will notice a difference.
I even started taking the XR again in college to help me with concentration and memory. I obtained my B.A. degree and now no longer take the Adderall. Though I still struggle with concentration and memory at times I am living without the Adderall.
I take a Benzo for the Anxiety but otherwise I lead a healthy, normal, life. Whatever was "wrong" with me as a kid I outgrew!
If you only the twitch in you neck when your anxious than thats just a symptom of you anxiety and not a side affect of the meds. Anxiety/depression causes physical symptoms too. My whole body shakes and I get chills when I feel a panic attack coming on. You may need both and if so thats fine especially if the combination works better for you. You may need the adderall for your ADHD. I don't think Zoloft helps with ADHD but I'm not sure.
Are there other people out there that are prescribed Adderall for depression? Also how many MG do you take? I am curious to see if I'm prescribed a "normal" amount. I currently take 2, 30mg Adderall XR daily (morning, afternoon) and 1, 10mg Instant Release Adderall around 7:00pm. 70mgs of Adderall total a day.
Congratulation on your new motherhood! It is obviously important that you are feeling happy and healthy in this new task and able to function well and transfer that feeling to your child. Depression is a common occurrence in new mothers and treating it is imperative, that is why your doctor started you on Zoloft. Unfortunately that takes time to kick in (about 4 to 6 weeks) and one of its side effects is lack of libido (that happens almost right away) , which was one of your original complaints.
m just wondering how long you had or have been on Adderall. A lot of your symptoms are consistent with taking Adderall, especially on 80mg. I took Adderall and after two weeks I was paranoid, thought people were talking about me, police following me, depressed and anxious to the max!! After I stopped it the symptoms slowing got better. Come to find out all those thoughts were crazy and not true. I thank God I stopped that med.
The problem with these types of meds is you build a tolerance quickly as with any amphetimine. I have been on every ADHD med available and built a tolerance to them all vyvance was the last straw for me so i told my dr. Enough is enough. I am taking hebal remedies now and seem to be doing just fine and yoga as well. I cant say i will never go back but i just needed a break.
The zoloft will take a while to take effect. It will help with depression. If the reason for lake of motivation is depression then the zoloft will help the motivation. If the reason for lack of motivation is because you are taking the pills, you need to stop the pills. It is good you want to stop the pills. Many people on this forum have detoxed at home. I have to go in a few minutes but can come back on this board in a couple hours and give you some more guidelines on what to do.
I remember being a puffy mute on lexapro and zyprexa. Not only was my usual 130 pound jewish frame elevated to 170 within months I felt suicidal for the first time in my life. I found a combo of wellbutrin/zoloft that seems to serve me well. After hearing my complaints of fatigue he added adderall. It does help but it's but you can develop tolerance fairly quickly and it's drawing on your body's essential vitality (chi) to do this.
This should settle down soon. As you know some anti depressants can take 6-8 weeks to have any effect, and sometimes we can feel worse before we feel better. You have stopped one antidepressant and gone onto another, and your body is having to adjust to the change.

Adderall is a concern (but I am not a Dr) due to the issues it can cause. Its basically Meth in pill form. I take it, and I will tell you if you need it, its a god send. I only know it works because when I am on it I'm claim and easy going, and when it wears off I go to bed super easy. But, if you don't need it, it will keep you up, cause prostate issues in high doses, and can worsen your conditions. I agree with checking your drugs, at drugs.com or wallgreens.com etc.
This is not uncommon, I have this problem as well. The question is can you live with the extra anxiety if the adderall is really helping you? The problem with taking an upper (adderall) and a downer (ativan) together is that they will counter act against each other and neither one will be as effective in your system. You said that you were just diagnosed? Is this your first add medication? You may want to consider trying a different one if the adderall continues to give you problems.
