Common Questions and Answers about Taking adderall with prozac

adderall

My dr added adderal to my prozac and xanx he says i have refractory depression or something like that,i felt better yesterday after taking the adderall...but i hear im at higher risk for serotoyin syndrome....any others on these meds..
he was so angry and mean so that really helps. But everyone is different. Your doc should try something else with you if prozac isnt working. I tried depakote and it made me climb the walls but my daughter can take it for her bipolar disorder and shes totally fine.
I will be seeing my family physician next week and am considering being tested for ADD. Can a person taking Prozac also take something like ADDerall without side effects? I have a lot of trouble concentrating and listening to everything a person says to me when having conversations (my mind wanders), so I feel like I may have ADD. The Prozac really helps with my PMS symptoms, so I really want to continue with that, but I really do want help with the concentration problem.
I am currently taking Prozac for anxiety and depression, as well as Adderall for ADHD. I just got Phentramin-d and the bottle says to not take with anti-depressants. I don't want to stop taking Prozac and I don't know the exact reasons as to why I can't mix these drugs. Is it really harmful to do? And would it also be harmful to continue taking the Adderall along with the Phentramin-d?
Hi, My daughter is on Adderall XR and Prozac, and insists that her doctor/practitioner told her that drinking alcohol was not an issue while on these meds. As a result, she goes out partying and getting drunk with friends. She has trouble sleeping, doesn't eat regularly, and is under a lot of stress from a new job. I have a hard time believing that such powerful drugs will not interact with alcohol, and that they are completely out of her system by evening.
Adderall and Xanax are an upper and a downer. And both are addictive. Sounds like a loony combination to me. I took Xanax briefly when an inhaler for emphysema caused adrenal fatigue with the anxiety and panic attacks that accompany it. I was very careful in its use, taking it only when I had symptoms. You are on a maintenance dose and will become addicted very quickly. Have you ever investigated whether you have a physical condition that might be causing the anxiety and depression?
hi i have been on prozac and xanax since march 3 2010.my dr added adderall for refractory depression a little over a week ago,,,,i can tell not much difference....and im still having the slow unsteady walk from before the addderall...does anyone know how long it will take the adderall to help my depression,,,he is usinfg it off label....
My next step was to research treatments that involved taking Adderall and Prozac together. Did I find any? No. What I did find were suggestions and recommendations AGAINST taking these two medications together because together they increase the risk of Serotonin Syndrome. I looked at the symptoms for Serotonin Syndrome and I know I've experienced 4 of the three symptoms since starting my new treatment. I've entered periods of agitation and restlessness several times.
never drank with prozac or adderalll before..but i dont even enjoy life anymore i have become a hyperchrdiac so dr said drink 2 beers a night an chill...
It just works differently) There totally no risk of upping Prozac to 60mg and taking Ritalin. Prozac will work on your serotonin while Ritalin will work on your dopamine and norepinephrine neurotransmitter's reuptake. If you would be allergic to Ritalin you would/will know. You could notice improvement from the upped Prozac in a matter of weeks. You could experience gradual improvements or a kind of miracle day when we don't know why, but suddenly it's like working for you.
I have a love/hate realationship with the Adderall. Although I am prescribed 20 mg Adderall XR 3 times a day, I never take all 3 pills a day. Right now I am down to 1 pill a day. I love the fact that the Adderall gives me energy but I hate that after a few days of taking it I feel physically exhausted. I have tried to give up the Adderall but I always go back to it because taking the Celexa alone doesn't work.
I also went to my doctor and started taking Prozac for anxiety. This led to me becoming comfortable with myself in social situations. The compulsion to use lessened. :-). I did not have that urge to use drugs that was so strong. I still had it but it was manageable. Finally, you have to value yourself as a person. Think of all the positive things in yourself, use positive affirmations like: Hey I am great person, I have accomplished this or that, I am beautiful, etc.
You said you were getting off the prozac, a little piece of advice, I stopped taking the prozac so I could see the difference with my sex drive, and there was a drastic change. But just stopping prozac all together, without a physician's help, and without weaning myself off, I experienced the most horrible withdrawl symptoms. I am also on wellbutrin for depression/adhd, I have only been on it for about a week now, how is your experience with it? Especially w/ the adhd benefits?
It makes him very tired at times and lay in bed all day. Could some of what he is dealing with be a side effects from coming off the prozac? How do you know what is what? Since back on adderall he's a rollercoaster of side effects. OK..what is my point.....I would like him to go off all the meds for a while to see....(mothers intuition).he can always go back on or try something else....but how will he ever know how he'll you'll do if he never goes off the drugs.
Been on prozac since March dr messed with dose till finally by late June i went to 50 mg...im also on wellbutrin, well weight gain and other problems dr said to cut back on prozac 10 mg a week, been doing that im down to 30 mg but i have bad depression like when i first began prozac,i was added a estrogen patch this past friday,i have no energy and im tired all the time..
I was just wondering whether there are any adverse effects in taking both adderall and zoloft. Thanks!
Oh yeah I was 20 mg of prozac but now he wants me to do 25mg of seroquel and 10mg of prozac. I don't want to be addicated or overdose. Any advide would be great.
Be sure and remember that working on what is causing depression is just as important as taking the medication. If you are not working with a therapist, go to the mastering stress and depression site(link above) and try a free session to get you started.
Like Fladdict and Emilyanne said, this forum is a very supportive place and we would all like to help you in any way we can just please do not try to stop taking this medication suddenly. Speak with your doctor, often patients are gradually taken off of this medication and it can be dangerous to stop suddenly depending on the dosage and how often and any other drugs that are being taken with it. xoxo- D.
My son takes Adderall. Unfortunately Adderall does not work like prozac does. Adderall is a medication that does not build up in your system. The XR, for instance, lasts about 8 hours. Prozac builds up in your system over time and you achieve a steady state level which is why you feel good all the time. I asked my sons doctor this specific question because I don't give it to him on the weekends.
If it take it the same time as the adderall with it affect the way the adderall works for me? thank you for reading and sorry for all the questions. And also please dont comment and say medications work differently for each person because I already know that. I just want to know other peoples exsperiences. I take 20mg Adderall(regular adderall not XR) right now. tomorrow i will start Wellbutrin 100mg XL and Prozac 10mg along with the 20 mg adderall. thank you again.
My memory isn't like before, it's not that bad I'm noticing a decrease. I'm done with taking adderall, today is my last day. I can't sit here and blame anyone or thing, I just don't like what it's starting to do to me. I don't want to go through life depending on medication, granite I'm depressed at times but I refuse to take depression pills. I control myself, my mind, me. I used to meditate a lot (been doing so since I was 14) and will now make it a constant routine.
I think a beer or 2 a night couldn't hurt and it's safe with your medications. Lots of people are on Prozac and Adderall because Prozac tend to make you lethargic. I mean I think we can consider a beer or 2 at night as a medication in your case but if you were alcoholic in the past I guess it could be easy to relapse. Anyway if you feel safe and capable of drinking only small amount of alcohol it is up to you but be aware that high quantity of alcohol with your medications is not safe at all.
I had some difficulties adjusting to being on the med which many of you shared your experiences with me which was a great help. Well I have been taking aderrall about 2 to 3 months. The feelings of paranoia, suspicion of others and rage have come back. So when i see my doc this week he will be switching me to something else. Adderall also makes me sweat horribly and raises my blood pressure. I am assuming he will put me on concerta or straterra I don't know.
i have been taking adderall for 7 yrs and have been as high as 90mgs a day. im down to 60mgs a day. i feel paranoid all the time and suffer from depression insomnia and cant remember the last time i smiled. what i want to know is whether or not its possible to wean myself off this drug and continue to work. taking a leave from my job is not an option. is there any safe supplement to help ease the wds? how long do the wds last and will i ever feel better again? what are the wd symptoms?
Hi, I'm a 19 year old girl, 5'2, 110 lbs. and I recently stopped taking adderall due to chest pains, dizziness, fainting, palpitations, and blurred vision. These symptoms presented themselves over a year ago when I started taking adderall when school started after not having taken any over the summer. I have a history of stimulant abuse (on and off for 4 years), but up until about a week ago, was still perscribed 20 mgs of adderall (generic) up to 3 times a day.
So I've decided to try Adderall again, which helped me extremely well. I want advice on ways to space taking the adderall and when I exercise. I don't want to take the extended release due to lack of control of the release of the med. So is there a recommended amount of time to let the adderall wear off so I can exercise and feel normal heart rate and breathing wise?
which is a common side effect of many psychiatric drugs, including Prozac and Adderall. I have to drink a lot of water, or just try to deal with being thirsty often. Suprisingly, you get used to it. If you can tolerate the side effects, I would say continue taking the Adderall and see if these inital side effects go away, as they sometimes do with these meds. I wish you the best!
