Avatar n tn Adenosine is the radioactive tracer that they inject into your artery for the nuclear stress test. This link explains the test very well: http://my.clevelandclinic.org/heart/services/tests/nuclear/adenosine.aspx Good luck!
Avatar n tn Why was I told that my stress test would go for three to five hours? My husband's stress test was only for a few minutes back home. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I wonder why you had a stress test, some symptom trigger it? In my case I asked for a stress test to get a better number on what my maximum exercise HR should be. This lead to lots of additional nuclear and other tests because I couldn't pass the stress test when I in fact didn't have the main problem it checks for. Sorry if I wander... bottom line, see a cardiologist but if you don't have any serious symptoms I think you should think positive, nothing is wrong.
Avatar n tn I had a thalium stress test yesterday...I have a ten month old child at home..how long before the radiation leaves my body so I know it is safe to handle my child...I work in a hospital and radiation silent alarm went off today so Im assuming its still pretty high. I had the test at 1pm yesterday...is it s still very strong and should I be worried about exposing it to my family?? This discussion is related to Thalium.
512736 tn?1211343352 d CAD is greatly increased by performing a nuclear perfusion study in conjunction with the stress test. A radioactive substance called thallium (or a similar substance called sestamibi or Cardiolite) is injected into a vein during exercise. The thallium collects in the parts of the heart that have good blood flow. Pictures of the heart are taken with a special camera that can image the radioactivity of the thallium.
Avatar m tn ve had three over the last 6 years, and one a few years before that when the test was called a thallium stress test...it is nuclear too, but it seems thallium is no longer used. I have no known side-effects and I have gotten two false positives. The latest one that gave this was about 2 years ago, and so I underwent a catheter study and there were no blocks. I think the bottom line is, if the nuclear stress test says you do not have blockage, you most likely don't.
Avatar f tn I had a thallium stress test a week ago. Now I'm setting off radioactive alarms at the facility where I work which is a heavily secure building. How long will the thallium remain in my body?
Avatar n tn Likewise, I've also had this test too many times to count...and I don't glow yet! It's a very safe test. Hope your test turns out well.
Avatar f tn I'm scheduled for a chemical stress test, my doctor's nurse said that they're going to use Lexiscan. If anyone has had any experience with Lexiscan I would really wish to know what to expect. I've read some positive things about Lexiscan and mostly negative things. I have asthma and wish to know if anyone has had problems breathing when administered this drug. I've also heard that I can experience nausea and vomiting. Although the doc told me not to eat or drink anything.
Avatar m tn My 83 year old grandmother had a chemical stress test about three months ago because she was so tired all the time. She was in good health otherwise. Since this test she is having terrible anxiety, describing it as feeling shaking all over on the inside. She has been on several different anxiety medicines, none of which help at all. The doctors have now been sending her to a psychologist as if she is crazy.
Avatar n tn How dangerious is a Thalium Stress Test and what are the possible side effects. This discussion is related to treadmill vs. thallium stress test.
Avatar n tn I wonder if the radioactive material given to me for the stress test cured my symptoms?
Avatar f tn My rx says adenosine nuclear stress test. Adenosine is used in lieu of exercise.
Avatar n tn Yes a cardiolite test is a nuclear test. Cardiolite is a brand name of a radioactive technetium compound that's used as a tracer. Anne400, one possible followup is a stress echocardiogram, especially if there is any doubt about whether the positive result was false. But false positive nuclear stress tests are apparently very common, especially in women because breast tissue can absorb the tracer signal making it look as if part of the heart muscle isn't perfusing properly.
Avatar n tn those due to injection of the radioactive compound and those due to the treadmill stress test. Your father did not have any side effects form the exercise phase, but side effects from the the treadmill can be chest pain, irregular heart rate and rarely, death have been reported during treadmill stress test. There should have been a doctor supervising the test that is the appropriate procedure, so it may have been a dotor who answered questions and not the tech.

Avatar f tn Hi, I had hyper then had radioactive iodine. About 30 years ago. Then badly hypo but condition been controlled and stable for years. Last week, blood test thyroid. Doc said it was 28, norm 23. Been taking 125mcg for ages, feel fine (except for ME) ,regular annual tests.Doc told me to do 100, 125 alternate days. Tried that once before when slightly up, felt so depressed. Now I'm scared to do this, M.E. usual symptoms but don't want to feel worse, sleep more etc.
Avatar n tn can a thalium stress test affect the results of a TSH test and a t3 and t4 test and make. My TSH so far came back 9.1 and I presently take syntroid .75mcg This discussion is related to Possible misdiagnosis of Hypo - dizziness from Synthroid.

Avatar n tn I'm starting a low iodine diet this monday in preparation for radioactive iodine uptake test, but I was not told to stop taking my synthroid. why continue taking the medicine? I had complete thyroidectomy and this test is for seeing if it spead elswhere.
Avatar f tn I have just gotten results from an Echocardiogram and a Radioactive Sestamibi Scan. The ejection fractions are different. Is that normal or should I follow up further?
