Also seeing as you have spontaneous anxiety attacks you should also get a full check up from your doctor, he/she will probably do a full blood panel workup to make sure your fine, things such as an overactive Thyroid can cause anxiety, nervousness, panic attacks. Vitamin Deficiencies can cause anxiety and panic attacks too, being low in EFA (essential fatty acids) like Omega 3 will do the same.
jul04 is right on about Magnesium. Magnesium deficiency can cause anxiety, panic, fear, depression, stress conditions, etc. Magnesium and the B Complex Vitamins are essential to handling stress calmly and smoothly. Some of the safer and more effective forms of magnesium include: Taurate, Glycinate and Citrate (can be laxitative -- take with food). The typical blood test for magnesium isn't very effective.
this quote - 'He presented some very compelling evidence to support treating most psychotic disorders as a vitamin B3 deficiency' refers to Abram Hoffer a renowned researcher of B3. Google him. Meantime, anyone heard of this or tried a doctor with it?
I have been giving 50,000 units of vitamin d to take twice a week.I stay in the house alot due to social anxiety so that might of caused my low vit d.Do you see my testosterone level that is low for a 20 year old but I also didn't get any sleep before the test so that could of affected it.
She also put me on fish oil since I eat no fish at all but we all need that healthy fat. And she agreed that I should continue Vitamin D3 supplements since most people are deficient. Vitamin D3 helps with mood. My girlfriend's high school age son is going through some issues like your daughter. Tell her that she's not alone with this and that she WILL get through it. Good luck!
I was driven to the emergency room yesterday. I thought I was dying. After being there for hours. They said I was anemic. I had lost 1/2 of my blood count. They wanted to transfuse me. I chose iron supplements. Well, I said that to say, that explains my TWO super cravings. I had to have extra PICKLES on my double cheese burger. And I hate pickles. I don't recall when it began, but the craving was there. Now for the ultimate super craving. Sniffing gas.
Thank You sooooooooo much. I am going to try your suggestions. I to, used to be able to drive the freeway like a crazy person. I actually LOVED the freeway & driving itself now I fear it everyday. I take back roads to work & have not driven the xpressway in a year but I want to so bad. I try to tell myself that this is NOT going to control me & some days are good & I feel like I can drive forever...but most days are a real challenge. I have trouble at stop lights....
As for real medical problems, if doing the above suggestions doesn't improve things, then a visit to a general physician to make sure he doesn't have things like low sugar or low protein, or perhaps a vitamin or mineral deficiency, or anemia, or even pain from some source, is the way to go.
I'm suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, OCD, and Tourettes Syndrome. It started out with Tourettes and OCD but as i've gone through some trauma GAD and SAD has developed and is destroying me. As of right now i'm taking Lexapro, Busiprone, Xanax (as needed), and Gabapentin. I'm 18 years old and i'm having great difficulties even finishing with online classes. I seek assistance for alternative medications or treatments that may help these symptoms.
In my opinion, many people experience social anxiety; especially when you are stressed out. I believe you are doing the right thing by seeing a psychologist about this. You are learning to confront and deal with your fears. Just be patient though...it can take awhile to learn how to deal with it sometimes. Keep your head up and don't beat yourself up if you have your bad days with this. Keep us posted!
Nitrous oxide is a known cause of depleting vitamin B12 levels. Anxiety and panic attacks are symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency. Anxiety and panic attacks are also symptoms of magnesium deficiency. Any type of physical or mental stress (including surgery) depletes magnesium levels. Worth trialing sublingual (under the tongue) B12 and chelated magnesium supplements. Do not take magnesium if you have heart or kidney problems.
I went back to my doctor a few times asking about possible other medical causes such as fibromyalgia, vitamin deficiency, etc. but he refused to believe it was anything but stress and wanted me to take Zoloft, which I refused. I saw a psychologist for about a month and did a few acupuncture sessions, which seemed to help my circulation a bit but also seemed to cause fasiculations in my legs, so I stopped after 2 sessions. The psychology sessions succeeded in ceasing panic attacks.

It doesn't matter if your anxiety is related to a real life stress, whether you are new to panic attacks, or whether you have social anxiety...or like in your case, anxiety over HIV...anxiety left untreated sometimes only gets worse. Reach out to your doc, ask for a referral to a psychiatrist, who can get the ball rolling. You MUST stop searching the internet. There is a lot of inaccurate and scary info out there..
I've been experiencing social anxiety upon leaving my house. I become overwhelmed by people and stimuli of the world away from home. My heart starts to pound I become hyper-alert and it can lead to hyperventilating. Also i've been vitamin d deficient which I am working on fixing with nutrition and sunlight. What are some ways to cope and recover from this type of anxiety?
There are several health forums you can wander through. Especially check into deficiencies of vitamins and minerals. Start with the B vitamins, cholin, inositol, magnesium, potassium, calcium, pantothenic acid, Vitamins A, C, E, D, K, trace minerals, probiotics, digestive enzymes. You may see a lot of your symptoms in the deficiency lists and descriptions. If so, take some of those nutrients and see what happens.
He has had some depression as well and anxiety over school. He has Asperger's syndrome which has much to do with his lack of social skills and his anxiety and frusteration at school. He is telling me that he is feeling worse and sad for "no reason" I know not to completely stop the medication at once and want to know if I can cut his 25mg pill in half for two nights and contact his doctors office monday?
Since a while, i'm dealing with extreme anxiety (panic with agoraphobia, OCD, GAD, social phobia), in the past it was easy for me to have the anxiety under control with an antidepressant med like Paxil, but since 2 years I start having weird symptoms mainly cardiovasculars and i'm now med sensitive, so can't take even a tinny dose of an AD to control my anxiety and i'm taking a benzo med call Klonopin at 7.
Hi, I have been diagnosed with anxiety and I am currently taking 10mg Lexapro which doe not seem to be helping. I have really bad physical symptoms and I think there is something else medically wrong with me, even though the various health test that I've had all came up negative. My question is, does anyone of you suffering from anxiety feel constantly tired all of the time, feel like you are out of your body, like on drugs or living in a constant dream? I guess it's called depersonalization?
Magnesium deficiency in humans can cause anxiety, fearfulness, panic attacks, depression, etc. You ought to look into this. The B Comple Vitamins are also very important for handling stress and being calm.
For the anxiety I started (on advice from a naturopath) magnesium and zinc supplements, as a deficiency in these areas can give you an elevated base anxiety level. I was skeptical, but googled magnesium zinc anxiety, and it seemed plausible. So I have been on these supplements for nearly 2 months, with fantastic results. All-in-All ... the anxiety/gagging has been totally eliminated ... the worst I have gotten over the last month would be clearing my throat, without the gagging feeling ...
Common anxiety symptoms include: Body (anxiety symptoms commonly associated with the body in general): Allergy problems, increase in allergies (number, sensitivity, reactions, lengthier reactions) Back pain, stiffness, tension, pressure, soreness, spasms, immobility in the back or back muscles Blanching (looking pale, loss of color in the face or skin) Blushing, turning red, flushed face, flushed skin, blushing, red face or skin Body jolts, body zaps, electric jolt feeling in body, inte
I guess with that said though, my 'getting worse' would be that my psychological symptoms did get MUCH worse over the years. The Fog and disconnected feeling started first, then the social anxiety and OCD. Then I had a year of prolonged intense stress and it seemed like my body/ mind collapsed from it and wasn't able to fight back like a normal healthy system would. That's when the head exploding 'fight or flight' reactions would occur that lasted weeks at a time.
I was agoraphobic at one point (before I accepted it as anxiety disorder), but still have social anxiety, and I am a hypocodriac with EXTREME health anxiety focused mainly on my heart. Reading others lists has reassured me that it is just anxiety. Thanks to all for sharing!
This went on for about a year until the mineral oil made her vitamin deficiant and the Dr said give her Milk of Magnesia. Well, that worked and I started her on a high fiber diet to try to keep her regular but she didn't like the foods/gas they produced so I couldn't get her to stick to it and I was sick of a tantrum every day. The Dr. recommended a stool softener which seemed to work for awhile but then stopped.

Magnesium, Zinc, and B6 all needed to help with production of dopamine and GABA, two important neurotransmitters for social anxiety. I was not doing anything else different in my life when it left, but had to go to the stores to get my food anyway :P Just consider your food intake, it makes a difference." http://www.*************.
Magnesium is very important and most people are actually deficient. As deficient as they are in vitamin D. In fact, magnesium should be taken with the vitamin D if you take vitamin D. My GAD was at its worst when my vitamin D was at its lowest, so check your vitamin D levels. Magnesium also helps with GERD symptoms, so it's very important stuff. Taking melatonin at night can help, too. The sublingual form is the most effective.
