My 6 yr old jumped in the pool and now his wrist cast is soaked inside. His cast is coming off in in week. Should I be worried about fungus/infection or will it be ok for a week? should I contact his doctor? Ms.

Ok, so I had surgery about two weeks ago and anyways I had to have a cast put on my right leg from the foot to the knee. It became unbearably itchy and so I stupidly grabbed a spatula handle to shove down and scratch my leg. I knew not to put anything that could cause a cut, as to not cause infection; but I think I may have disturbed the material (gauze?) inside the cast and it's bunched up where it feels like a rock is being stabbed against my leg.

lol When you get it off be prepared for lots of dead skin under there and very smelly. The best thing to get rid of the smell and to get rid of the dead skin is a gauze with rubbing alcohol. Good luck to you.

t remember what, and it really hurt, and i realized that the area all around the cut is tender and swollen. It is still closed, and it seems there is an infection under the skin. If the lumps are UNDER the skin as opposed to being IN the skin you should see your doctor. Swollen lymph nodes under the skin can signify serious problems. Take care of yourself.

Had an ankle fusion on the 23rd-had a new cast put on on the 29th-now it seems AT TIMES the cast is too tight across the bridge of my foot & kind of freaks me out..How do I know if its something that should be checked out? But after few days his leg come out of the cast.Since the child is crying very much, the next casting was done in OT under GA. Dr. suggested that cast should remain for 1 month. But unfortunately in the same day itself his toes go a few inside the cast and was suddenly taken to the hospital and applied a new one without the bar which should remain for 2 weeks.
