Avatar f tn Probably an eyelid or drainage duct infection. See an ophthalmologist. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn No way to tell for sure but the most common thing tha would cause this is infection of an eyelid oil gland called a stye. This is usually treated with warm compresses and antibiotic eye drops prescribed by an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Try and get in to see an Eye MD or have your family doctor arrange a consult.
Avatar m tn Basically a doctor told me I had some sort of eczema on my eyelid and I was to use some hydrocortisone cream 1%. Of course being silly I decided to use it for two weeks and soon noticed my eyelid started to change... I stopped using the cream and went back to the doctor to which he then told me to just moisturise and it just by fine. My eyelid still wasn't okay though....

328799 tn?1276565732 Periorbital cellulitis is a condition where bacteria grow under the eyelid skin but stay in front of a structure which separates the front part of the eyelid from the eye socket. This dense membrane is called the septum and if the infection is in the front part, it is also called preseptal cellulitis. Oral antibiotics are successful in resolving 95% of these infections in healthy people. If the infection spreads to become orbital cellulitis, the vision can decrease and it hurts to move the eye.
Avatar f tn but another problem has creeped more serious. the eyelid skin of my right eye has sagged and looks droopy sudennly when compared to other, and i don't know the exact reason for this. i took notice of it last week and it still remains thoughout the day if not worsened.i have assumed of some of the causes: 1)insect bite when i was sleeping, but i couldn't really sense or felt the pain. only when ants bit our eyelids, out eyelids will look bulged but that will last only for few hours.
Avatar n tn Dry skin and i feel headache, eye irritation, eyelid irritation, sore throat (burning), fatigue and stomach ace (sometimes, mild). What could it be? Please suggest any test if required.
Avatar m tn I have recently had what was thought to be a skin fungal infection that has been treated with Trimovate. This was predominantly on my legs but also on my arms and torso. According to the instructions at http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100002967.html it says "Not to be used in fungal infections of the eye". I'm not saying that I have a fungal infection in my eye but maybe it is possible. How safe is this medication and what are the chances of developing these symptoms.
Avatar n tn You could have an allergic reaction of the skin around the eyes, or some type of skin infection or some other type of skin inflammation disorder. You need to see an ophthalmologist for the eyelid problem and probably a dermatologist as well. Sorry, but I can't make any specific treatment recommendations without seeing you.
2174134 tn?1337410582 Stye is caused by blockade in the oil gland of eyelid followed by acute infection. Chalazion is caused by blockade in a modified oil gland of the eyelid and can become red, warm and painful. Consult an ophthalmologist for evaluation. Treatment would include warm compresses of the lump, systemic anti inflammatories, sun protection, topical antibiotics and good nutrition. If it does not resolve with medical therapy, drainage by the doctor would be required. Wishing you all the best.
Avatar f tn i can feel clearly that an extra muscle has developed over my eyelid, which overlaps my eyelid, making it dimnishing near the inner edge of the eye.please tell me what can be done. shall it be cleared within a week?
Avatar m tn Two weeks ago I began noticing a red scaly patch of skin on my left arm's elbow (see picture). A few days later, I could smell a foul odor emanating from it. Lately I began noticing redness around my left eye and on the eyelid. I sometimes sleep on my arm/elbow, and I suspect that it has actually spread from there. Both red patches look like very dry skin but are not irritating or scratchy. It seems like some kind of a spreading infection. What do you make of it? Thanks!
Avatar m tn i have chlamydial eyelid infection alongside with blepharitis in my right eye, im not sure which condition came first. Before i got tested for chlamydia, the treatment was eyelid hygiene, warm compresses and short courses of antibiotic-steroid ointment; i never got better, more glands blocked and inflammation instead. Only treatment left is oral antibiotic i guess. I have used doxycycline before but i cant finish the treatment because of gastric side effects and eyelid irritation.
Avatar m tn I have pus coming out of a meibomian gland opening and a bit of the tarsal conjunctiva in my upper eyelid near the nasal side for almost a week now. I guess it must be an infection but I also have a chalazion-like lump at the same site of the infection.
Avatar f tn My grandson has a reoccurring impetigo infection that is on his eyelid, and we’re looking for an otc medicine to treat it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Last December i noticed on my left eyelid there was a small patch of dry flaky skin. I thought that just because it was winter my skin was more dry. About a month or two later both my eyelids go very swollen, irritated and red, especially along my lash line. It was so bad i couldn't wear any makeup at all and i was constantly scratching and rubbing my eye lids all day. After a month I finally talked to my uncle who is a doctor and he prescribed 1% hydrocortisone cream.
Avatar f tn She claims she was clean. Four days later I have something that feels more like a pimple than anything under my eyelid. I don’t remember directly touching my eyes any time soon after we were done. Whatever it is under my eye has been there for two today’s but I’m thinking it may have come come from sweating while wearing my helmet. It seems like it’s just one small bump under the skin, it does not itch and is not painful at all. All we did was make out and I fingered her.
Avatar f tn ve been using fusidic acid eyedrops for the last week because of a suspected eye infection - one eyelid had massive swelling which ended up as a large lump in the outer corner of the upper eyelid. Most of the swelling has gone now, but my eyelid is a strange yellowy colour, almost like it's bruised? Is this normal? It's starting to concern me...I suffer with anxiety anyway, so any help that anyone could give would be massively appreciated - thank you!
Avatar f tn For the past few nights I awake and begin to scratch because it feels like pinching and pain and this need to scratch. It then feels wet and my skin feels rough and dry. I began to use a petroleum like body cream - that only kept my skin moisturized. The itchiness persisted. Then I tried calamine and it's pretty much all I can use although I have to continue to reapply. The rash has spread to the side of the front of my neck and across the back.
Avatar f tn I am seeing improvement on the right eye as indeed it skin is becoming a little more taunt. My main concern is the left upper eyelid doesn't open as wide as the right eyelid now. I think the doctor pulled the skin in the corner of my left eye so tight it has pulled down the eyelid. There has been no improvement on the left eyelid as the swelling slowly goes down and my vision in the left eye is blurred and the eye waters now. What can be done?
Avatar f tn Quite a few weeks ago my lower eyelid was puffy and sore, feeling a bit like it was bruised. Now it feels fine, except a bit of itching now and then and my eyelashes near the area are turned toward my eye probably because of the slight bulge where the infection is. There is a ball type feel to it on the outside and the inside of the eyelid has a light shape to it, like a healing sore. Recently I had an eye doctor visit and was told it was a staph infection.
