Avatar n tn Stiffness of the cheek area could be due to dryness of skin, skin conditions like dermatitis or eczema or due to underlying maxillary sinus infection. Maxillary sinusitis can be diagnosed by clinical examination and X-ray of the sinus. It could also be due to tooth or gum problems and abscess of the upper jaw. Alternatively it could be the stat of generalized stiffness as seen in some myopathies and viral infections. Do you have any signs of Bell’s Palsy?

Avatar n tn Hi If the blisters are reddish bumps with yellowish centers then these may be acne or folliculitis. Folliculitis refers to a bacterial skin infection that involves hair follicles. They may appear as reddish bumps that may be tender or painful. They are also contagious. If you shave frequently, then this increases the risk of acquiring folliculitis. Cuts on the skin may facilitate bacterial infection. Acne is a likely differential here.
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination confirmation of a diagnosis is tough, but from the description, two possibilities are coming to my mind.First of all,it can be pityriasis versicolor. It is a common skin infection caused by the yeast Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates. Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Second possibility is of vitiligo.
Avatar n tn East Indian (Asian) male, mid 50, had circular ring like skin infection on both sides of the face more then 20 yrs ago during a summer month. It left darker marks below the eyes. New darker patches have grown over the years. It appears little raised. I have seen many dermatologists: some said dry skin, some said pigmentation problem and prescribed tretinoin and hydroquinon that I tried over years for discoloration but never fully cured.
Avatar n tn Irritation should be associated with some kind of infection probably, but what kind of infection? Or it can be without an infection also? If dermatitis, then what kind of? Seborrhoeic dermatitis? By the way, i visited dermatologist, but he couldn't help me. He suspected unreal and wrong infections, so of course, laboratory send the results and i don't have them. Now i want to visit a better dermatologist.
Avatar n tn If there was any human blood (possibly carriers of hcv/hiv) on the cutting tool which got into contact with the bone and the water that was in contact with the bone splashed into my eye/face/mouth/ears, am I at risk of infection? Should I get tested asap? Or do I have to wait a while for the virus to mature? It might be a stupid question but I'm really stressed about this! Please let me know if you have any insight. Thanks!

Avatar f tn So I know about baby acne being on the face but I gave him a bath today nd its all over his body. Is that possible nd wat can I do to clear it up?
Avatar n tn Certain organisms that may otherwise normally colonize the body may turn opportunistic and cause infection. Minor cuts and irritation in the skin may encourage the spread of these organisms readily in the state of a suppressed immune system. Wound healing may also be affected.
Avatar n tn I've got a face that has turned redder over the past two years. I am approx. 65 now and I'm not sure what has caused it. Maybe sun damage when I was younger possibly. Is there anything I can use to reduce the redness?
421600 tn?1203667570 The presence of infection may disrupt the normal flora that usually inhabits the skin. Continue with your medication as you are seemingly responding to it.At this point, your physician has to manage you conservatively with certain medications because of your pregnancy. Just avoid sharing towels with family members .Practice frequent handwashing and avoid unnecessarily touching the area. Use only mild and bland soaps to wash your face.
Avatar m tn Today I woke up with the skin on the right side of my face feeling very tender and sensitive. To be exact, my temple and cheekbone feels tingly. Also my mouth feels weird, the gums behind my right molar is swollen, red, and it hurts. Could it be a tooth infection?
551145 tn?1240945685 In your case, pityriasis alba and a fungal infection may be differentials. Pityriasis usually affects the face or the arms in children. Tinea versicolor may show light white discolorations on the skin with light central scaling. Have you observed scales in the area?
Avatar f tn But that is different than an ear infection, that is more like an infected cut or skin infection . Make sense?
Avatar n tn I have a question and it is rather embarassing. I have very dry skin. I can't really afford to go to a dermatologist and if I could I'd be much to embarassed to show my face. I have under my arm pits skin irratation that I believe coems from the type of deodorant I use and scratching. The skin is breaking and it's showing the pink meat of my skin. I'm very embarssed to wear sleaveless or get undressed because of it.
Avatar m tn Hello, Apart from allergies and contact dermatitis, other possibilities are of eczema and psoriasis skin. Psoriasis is a long-term (chronic) skin problem that causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin. It is thought that psoriasis occurs when the immune system overreacts, causing inflammation and flaking of skin. To confirm the diagnosis, you should get a biopsy skin done. This will rule out eczema or psoriasis and confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn One such example is a condition known as tinea versicolor, a superficial yeast infection that produces white spots on the skin that are difficult to remove. You should talk to your doctor and rule out the above causes. Let us know if you need any other information.
Avatar n tn Hi The area sounds infected. The face has to be cleaned and free of any infection at all times as infection may spread to other areas due to the rich supply of blood vessels in the face. I suggest that you have this assessed by a dermatologist or your internist. You may need oral antibiotics for this and culture of the discharge may be indicated. Refrain from using other creams and medications on the face as this may further irritate the skin.
Avatar n tn The other end is thick and about twice as long, and peristalsis can be observed through the skin. They come out of my ear canals and the skin of my face (mostly in front of my cheekbones, jaw hinge and nose areas, (usually following a brief but intense blast of pain,) and look like tiny dark blue specks.
Avatar f tn Direct physical examination and skin biopsy may be done to rule out other causes of pigment loss and presence of fungal infection. A wood's lamp may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hello, The commonest causes of such kind of blisters on face are contact dermatitis, bullous staph infection and herpes zoster. Herpes is caused by HSV. Pain, burning, tingling, or itching occurs at the infection site before the sores appear. Then clusters of blisters erupt which break down.
