Hi, my dog's eye has been red for about a week now (there are small red veins running along the white part of his eyeball), at first I thought it was just allergies but then today I saw on the side of his eyeball a small enlarged/swollen purple vein (burst? not sure). I've searched around online and some websites have said it could be a sign of blood pressure problems and that makes me worried because he's an old dog (almost 10).
Within the past month or so, he has developed a swollen eye. only one eye is swollen. It first swelled up approximately a month ago and we took him to a third vet. It appeared that there was a golf ball stuck underneath his eye. It is swollen in the area between his eye and snout. It swelled up within a day; by the end of the day we could not see his eyeball. There was a yellow pus that seemed to be the cause of the swelling.
I do not think I could talk to someone about it....Let me explain about the redness under my eye...It is the same color red as the blotch on my chest - I made it seem like darkness - but it comes and goes with the blotch on my chest...They are definitely related ...It is just that the eye blotch did not show up until about 3 months ago - while the chest blotch has been going on for a year.... It is just that this is the newest wrinkle with this "thing" ....
), I found that that evening my eye was itchy. The next morning my upper eye lid along my eye lashes was red and swollen. No eye make up or contacts here. I also do not have dry skin near my eye at all. And I have never had any problems with allergies. I want to rub the heck out of it and am trying to refrain. I'm not sure that this is the same as everyone else but just thought I'd add in case anyone has any ideas for me.
It seems Connie and I are on the same wave-length..... Can you describe it any better? red, swollen, crusty, oozing, anything? I'm not getting much from your photo.....What does the eye itself look like? If it was mange, the ring would be hairless.....Is there loss of hair? I can't tell....I'll keep looking, also.....
You also have to keep a Predisone prescription on hand in case your dog has a reaction to the lysodren (this is rare). My dog has been on Lysodren now for 6 years. The medicine did not work right away. In fact, her bloodwork did not return to normal until about 2 years. The doctor was patient and kept adjusting her meds until one day it worked. For about 2 years, then, her bloodwork was perfect. Now, she starting to have a little bit of a relapse which is normal.
and after that they just said i was fine. i based it on stress/axiety but the red rashes on the stomach kind of has me wondering. but i went to the hospital 3 times in 3 days when i had the shakyness illness wich apparently was a panic attack. i don't know, and im a hypercondriac. the rash i get on my stomach does not itch, or irritate. it just comes and goes.
It does bleed occasionally, but that is because it may itch a little and the dog will scratch her eye, which starts the bleeding. We use eye drops to keep her eyes moist, and Stye (human OTC med) once a day. It is keeping it under control, even though it is about the size of my little finger. If you can get a prescription for an antibiotic from the vet every 2-3 months, that tends to help.
Sounds like he could have an infection in his eye if its red and swollen! Human life is not as easily replaced as a dog! Don't feel bad, count your blessing his eye wasn't taken out. Sounds like dog is getting worse, more aggressive, that's too scary to put my baby I'm danger like that. Good luck.
I had the same problem - red swollen itchy eye which started on the skin just under my left eye as the weeks went on it spread to the eye lid, the bridge on my nose, between my eye brows and to to skin round my other eye. it drove me in sane it was so imbarassing going into work. on the days it wasn't as red it was very dry bumpy and scaly horrible. The attack lasted months and the skin was starting to look wrinkly!
They swell near the lashes, mostly on the upper eyelids. That is the only symptom. They are not red, itchy, scaly, flakey, or dry. Just swollen. I went to a derm, who said that my body probably associated the virus I had with the chemicals in all the products above, so when I use them my body reacts. Same with the animals and pollen. She told me to avoid all for 6 weeks, and then my immune system would "forget" to react to all of the above.
My boyfriend and I went to Rehoboth Beach, DE last weekend and he has an itchy rash on his waist, ankles and thighs. I have red bumps on my ankles and knees. Some of my bumps are raised and seem to be filled with liquid. He went to the doctor but could not get a diagonosis because doctor sen't sure what it was and prescribed a cortizone cream and antihistimine. Mine seem to be going away. We are thinking his could be scabies and are afraid to sleep together as it could be contagious.
Was given another antibiotic, and eye drops. Was asked to come back on Monday to have someone else look at it. Go in today, and new Vet says it it the most bizarre thing he has ever seen. Called in 2 other Vets to look. Now I am being sent to someone else who specializes in eyes. I feel the nasal cavity is obstructed somehow, (A Mass?) and is now affecting the eye. She is eating, and acting normal, just difficulty breathing.
I had sex with my bf over the weekend and now at home I am noticing that my vagina lips are swollen and it hurts when I pee. It is red where it is swollen but on the inner lip the color is fine. The swelling is just putting it 'out there' It is itchy and that is how I noticed it. I know neither of us have STD's. Any ideas, can anyone help, please????
what they will do is the dental first the dental doesn't take but maybe 10-15 minutes, they have 2 people monitoring this at all times. they will then most likely do the cherry eye (which is just a swollen gland in the eye) that should take no more than 30 minutes. then depending on where your puppies girl parts are in her little body the spay should take no more than 30 minutes.
when my dog got a golf size ball in that same area it was her lymph nodes swollen and was diagnosed with cancer(not to scare you or anything) but that was first thing i thought of. my dog had trouble swallowing, eating and had bit of a cough.she was swollen on both sides though.keep us posted!
Hi, my dog miracle woke up 4 days ago with a swollen right eye. A couple hours later the swelling went down and I noticed pink colored pimple like bumps along the rim of the bottom eyelid. Then later that night the pimples appeared on her left eye lid in the same place. The next night, we noticed the same type of pimples on the side of her nose (3 of them.) There are about 4 on each eyelid. That days the eyes started building up a light yellow discharge in the corners.
He does have a large bed in the back seat, that he lays in, but wither he is in the front seat or in his bed, he moans most of the time when i am at a red light and then i press on the gas.. and i am not flooring it at all.. Then last week, i was scratching his belly kinda rough housing and then he totally yelped, which he never ever does unless, some stepped on his tail or something..soooo I am talking him to the vet today, hopefully to do xrays or something..
I had to put my dog down on Saturday, the 15th of December. My heart is broken. How are you doing? My dog was 12 and had advanced heart disease and (without knowing) the beginning of kidney disease. She was a slow dog at this point but very content. 2 weeks ago she was attacked by a german shepherd while my husband was walking her. She survived the bites, but within the next week she stopped eating completely and her kidney values were very high.
The vomiting is so awful to watch in the end as it just goes on and on and on... There are many anti emetic meds to try. Has your vet not prescribed anything? Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end.
The abscessed tooth was swollen under her eye and drained from her gums. During the surgery they flushed it out and the swelling went down. When we picked her up, the area was swollen again. The vet was surprised but gave us antibiotics, pain meds and anti inflams for her. After the meds, she still had the swelling and it was draining again from her mouth (at times if it got really big it would drain clear fluid but it was majority of the time it was blood).
A few minutes later, my eye started to swell up. It swelled about a quarter of the way. I was still able to see. My eye was red and watering. I don't know what it was. The swelling went down completely after about 3 hours. It still itches from time to time but it is no longer red or watery. I had dried tears on the outer skin around the eye but no pus. I am getting over a really bad cold and I took Alka Seltzer Cold about 4 hours prior.
I stopped the rimadyl/tramodol, started her on soft dog food, cottage cheese, pectin, amoxiciliian i had yesterday, waiting to see stool today, shes very delicate.. after shot her symptoms: convulsions within one min vomiting, very high fever, red red gums and tongue, legarthic, panting, breathing rapid, and now her bowels w/stinch loose. She does eat when hand feed and drink. So thats what the deal is, cushing or shot anaplaysia reaction...what you thing?
We were on Optimmune for a while with our vet until she recommended us to a specialist, we went to the specialist after he end up getting an ucler in his eye due to lack of lubricant. He would rub it off. Now the poor dog lives with a cone on his head, with the fear he will get another ulcer. He has had surgery to repair the eye. The eye healed but we cant get him to produce enough tears.
I also noticed that it seems to cut down on the red bumps I get on my thighs once in a while. The bumps on my thighs are something I have had ever since I was a kid (on and off). They are different than the bumps on my eyes however. The little bumps on my thighs are more like pimples and come and go. Anyway, it seems like when I take the Oil of Oregano, my skin is much better looking as a whole and those go away.
