He normally will have a little eye redness after being groomed but when my husband brought him him I was shocked. The whole membrane around his eye was red and swollen. I posted a picture on facwbook and I have a friend who is a groomer and use to work for a vet and said this looked like it came from being choked by the harness. It is not cherry eye since that is in the corner of the eye. Could this have come from being choked?
ve noticed since I got my dog from the humane society that some days his eyes are more red than others, specifically his left eye and almost every morning he has discharge coming from both eyes. I recently took him to the vet for this problem and he was diagnosed with follicular hyperplasia which is apparently where something gets caught under his third eye lid, irritates it and then nodules/small bumps grow underneath causing redness/discharge/discomfort.
Could e a number of things but best to have any suspicious lumps checked, especially near or on the eye. You sure don't want it tipo be something that could result in vision loss.
i have to agree it may cost more but who can put a prics on our pets, they are family. Look in the yellowpages for an emergency vet STAT!!
About three to four days ago my eye began to feel like I had been punched in the face on the left side. I woke up the next morning to find a swollen eyelid, and a few lumps about the size of a piece of rice to a pin head. I gave it a day then went to the after hours where they gave me drops. Its since been two days and it gets more swollen everyday, today being swollen shut. The outside is purple and red and the inside is bright red and the lumps are growing.
my six year old son's left eye is red ,itches, has a little mucus and is watery can i use tobrex eye drop ?
I have basset who devoloped a huge swollen one side on her head and her eye swollen also and hard to open her mouth and painful.She is an outside dog in a kennel, brought her in gave her amoxicilln/augmentin for 5 days and swelling went down, area looked to be a cut on her head oozed and she is now fine.Problem my newfoundland has devolped the same symptoms today and he is also an outside dog in his own kennel alone.
i got tested for sugar diebites and never had it. and after that they just said i was fine. i based it on stress/axiety but the red rashes on the stomach kind of has me wondering. but i went to the hospital 3 times in 3 days when i had the shakyness illness wich apparently was a panic attack. i don't know, and im a hypercondriac. the rash i get on my stomach does not itch, or irritate. it just comes and goes.
Okay, I may be overexaggerating but I need to know for sure. I am 15 years old and wear makeup everday, so my parents just thinks it's my makeup irritating my eye and won't give it anymore attention. So I just want to be safe. I have worn makeup for a good two years now and never had this problem until just a few days ago. The corner of one of my eyes tends to itch horribly, and sometimes my upper eyelid too as if I have a irritated eye lash.
When you say your dog's eye is red, do you mean the white part of the eye or the tissues surrounding the eye?
Do you have any idea why the eye might be red? Do you have other pets that could possibly have scratched him while they were playing? Was he walking through bushes that may have scratched him?
Don't put anything in his eye for right now. If this is a minor irritation, it will go away in a day or two.
They swell near the lashes, mostly on the upper eyelids. That is the only symptom. They are not red, itchy, scaly, flakey, or dry. Just swollen.
I went to a derm, who said that my body probably associated the virus I had with the chemicals in all the products above, so when I use them my body reacts. Same with the animals and pollen. She told me to avoid all for 6 weeks, and then my immune system would "forget" to react to all of the above.
When we went to see him he said steroids can irritate no problem, reduce dose from QID to 3x for a week then twice for a week etc. 2 days after that visit my eye got bloodshot red some burning swollen again and pus and the blisters are back. My eye is still like this today. my last appt. when i saw him was July 2. No one seems to have any clue as to what this is. May i add as well that its only been my right eye this entire time and no one in my family has any redness.

My 18 month old son when was at home after having the food started itching both eyes. After few minute we saw that both his eye lids are swollen.There is no red-eye, but eye lid is swollen. It is bit itchy, but my son is playful and not crying.
The food he had was the banana yogut, which he does have it. We did go out to park yesterday evening, but he got this eye swelling only today evening.
Can you please guide me what this could be related to and can we take some eye drops ?
Many thanks for your advice. I took him along to the vets. He said he was 90% sure it was a histiocytoma as my dog is only 4 years old, this would be a common occurrence. He advised watchful waiting for 2 months, it would probably bleed, crust over and fall off. So far it has shrunk slightly and looks like it's on it's way out. Hopefully this will resolve but I'll keep an eye on it and thank you very much for your support.
