Since Dec 2 my right eye has become very red and a bit itchy and heavy. I noticed my right cheek was also very red a bit swollen at places. I visited an optometrist on Dec 5. He thinks it could be due to the dental work. My question is, how long can I safely wait to see if this gets cured. I am not having a lot of pain or discomfort.

last week i developed an abcsess in my tooth. my cheek became very swollen. the doctor said the infection from the abscess had passed from my tooth into my cheek. they put me on keeflex. within 24 hours about 60% of the swelling in my cheek had subsided. i am now on day 6 of a 10 days worth of the keeflex.
It begins with a burning sensation, then I awake in the morning with swollen, itchy eyes that are red on my eyelids and below my eyes almost to my cheek bones. I am left with scaley, sagging skin above and below my eyes, and bags of fluid that collect under my eyes right above my cheek bones. My skin responds as though it has been burned by crusting over and collecting fluid. It's painful and the only thing that helps is cortisone shots, which I don't want to take the rest of my life.
under my right eye - when I got up that next morning, I saw 3 small red dots - which I thought might been from a small spider that was in my eyemask - not sure, though. Now, I have a swollen bag above my cheek under that eye that shifts to the side of my nose at night.
The abscessed tooth was swollen under her eye and drained from her gums. During the surgery they flushed it out and the swelling went down. When we picked her up, the area was swollen again. The vet was surprised but gave us antibiotics, pain meds and anti inflams for her. After the meds, she still had the swelling and it was draining again from her mouth (at times if it got really big it would drain clear fluid but it was majority of the time it was blood).
I looked in the mirror and all around my right eye my lids were very puffy and swollen, the swelling went down towards my cheek bone. It's been 6 hours and it's about 80% than it was, but still puffy. It only happened to the right eye. I do not have any itching associated with it, my eye itself is not red. I used to work for cosmetic surgeons and it resembles the type of post surgery swelling our patients experienced.
I woke up and got ready and my face started getting a red hot and swollen. I have been on Gentimicin for about 5 days for my eye swelling and I am not on anything else. Anyway , it looked like giant hives on my cheek bones and my face was on fire. My doctor didn't really know what to tell me. I started taking amoxicilian 250 3x/day and some childrens allergy meds. (I get heart palps and my BP is a little high so I can't take stronger) This is going on day 3.

The past year I've noticed my upper cheeks, malars I believe they're called, to be a little swollen and red. This is pretty constant and especially noticeable when light shines from the side of my face. I wear contacts, and I notice when I wake up in the morning without having them in the redness is quite less. I believe the "puffiness" remains throughout the day.
But now when I bend over I have tremendous pain in my eye and upper cheek area. I have been flushing my eye out and alterntaing flusing the eye out with artificial tears and alternating putting Erythromiacin and Vigomax (because that is what I was prescribed last time I went to the doctor) in my eye. My vision when I take the patch of is blury and because I have the stigmatism in my left eye everything I see is blury of doubled.
It was sore to the touch all they way down to the cheek bone, as well as mildly swollen and mildly red at the inner corner of the upper eyelid. It hurt to open and close my eye. Today the swelling is a little worse, but the area around my eye is no longer painful. The swollen area is still tender to the touch and it is irritating to open and close my eye. This afternoon it began to itch for the first time.
Now its black and the swelling has gone down on my cheek bone but its more swollen in front of my eye and on the side of my eye its blood red. Is this normal? Are there any suggestions for treatment?

The other day, I felt a lump (not visible yet) on my cheek, slightly to the right of my nose and an inch below my eye. I ignored it at the time, and then the next day it had escalated to a small, red, sore bump that did not come to a head like a pimple. Later that day, it became bulbous and thick, so I gave it a good squeezing, and some pus (not a lot) came out, with a little bit of clear liquid. It looked okay for a while, then turned into a hard red lump.
), I found that that evening my eye was itchy. The next morning my upper eye lid along my eye lashes was red and swollen. No eye make up or contacts here. I also do not have dry skin near my eye at all. and I have never had any problems with allergies. I want to rub the heck out of it and am trying to refrain. I'm not sure that this is the same as everyone else but just thought I'd add in case anyone has any ideas for me.
Hello ThisOnePerson, It seems that you have been having some kind of fasciculation. This might be an initial symptom of localized epilepsy as well. Consult your neurologist for further course of action.
I had the same problem - red swollen itchy eye which started on the skin just under my left eye as the weeks went on it spread to the eye lid, the bridge on my nose, between my eye brows and to to skin round my other eye. it drove me in sane it was so imbarassing going into work. On the days it wasn't as red it was very dry bumpy and scaly horrible. The attack lasted months and the skin was starting to look wrinkly!
Three days ago I developed a red painful bump under my right eye on the cheek area. Today the bump is still there and now it has spread under the skin to develop an red puffy area under my eye. Someone said when it first happened that it looked like a bug bite but I had a white bump on my left eyelid about 6 weeks ago which was very painful, swollen and red for several days until I went to the Dr and he prescribed antibiotics.
woke yesterday to my left eye swollen shut. this is the 2nd incident in the past 30 days. first time swelling reduced throughout the day & was 95% normal following day to 100% normal by 3rd day. this time, there has been some decrease but only about 50%. still noticeable difference between left side & right side of face. using ice & sudafed as prescribed by patient first doc.
By the end of that night my lip was swollen badley and my cheek. I started amoxicillen that night and by the next morning I was swollen up to right below my eye. and now i am on the second day of antibiotics and it seems to be starting to swell on the other side of my face to and my lip and cheek and roof of my mouth is in extrem pain, what else should I do?
It felt like there was a worm crawling through the entire right side of my face and tickling my ear with it's tail, it was gross and nauseating. Gland under my right ear also swollen, red, and throbbing. I didn't want to wait to get an appt at my last dentist, then have him send me to the endo and wait for an appt there, this was too severe and I couldn't wait. I went to a new dentist that was also able to perform root canals.
I am in my 60's and have only just started to have either a swollen face or, on the last two occasions, a swollen tongue, which all started in September. The first time I had a swollen tongue was 4 weeks ago and I ended up in hospital. I had already taken Piriton but it didn't help. At the hospital they gave me Prednisolone which worked very quickly and I was packed off home with another 2 days supply.
What did you mean when you say that the eye is smaller? Are the lids around the eye swollen giving the appearance of the eye being smaller? With regards to the pain you describe, I've had 19 sinus infections in 24 months, and the pain in your cheek and close to your nose sound a lot like sinusitis. I was told that by my ob-gyn once that hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause inflamation of the sinus cavities.
facial wash the next day i noticed my cheeks begin to itch and it started out as a pimple and accidently squeezed it once or twice trying to pop it however after doing that my cheeks got red, swollen, and it feels hot to the touch and feels like theres a heartbeat i'm terrified because its close to my eyes and head. Not to seem conceded but i do have beautiful flawless skin and now my face looks like i will have a scar because of this monster. On Mar.
The night before that appointment his check had swelled and was turning red. So I called the emergency number and they called in a 3 day prescription for Azithromycin. Saying that will bring down the swelling. So I gave it to him that night and the morning before his appointment. Coming home from the dentist he was screaming in pain so I called the dentist and they said that was normal because of the pressure from the infection and the novicane.
The cold did seem to be gone, but then swelling started in the cheek under the eye, the third eye lid was swollen and the white goop was back. We then tried Cephalexin orally, Gentamicin Sulfate eye drops and an anti inflammatory/pain pills. The swelling in her cheek went down and the white goop from her eye got better but her third eye was still showing. Within a few days off the meds, it was getting worse, a really swollen third eyelid and cheek and white goop.
