Avatar f tn He wants to try to treat the symptoms for now and I have to say at this point I agree because I am so cautious about meds. He started me on Nuvigil for the fatigue and cymbalta for the pain. Are any of you taking these and if so are they helping? I have another apt in a month to review how they are working for me. I will start them tomorrow. I have been told or read not sure which at this point that the nuvigil can keep u up all night. That is really one extreme to another.
Avatar m tn Not good. You definitely want to look for a specialist. Might want to scope out your throat to see if there are also problems down there. Under side effects for Nuvigil it says, "Skin and mouth sores, blistering, and ulceration have been reported with modafinil and NUVIGIL in the postmarketing setting. Recurrence of signs and symptoms of serious dermatologic reactions following rechallenge has been reported in some cases.
1142551 tn?1264736930 Well I notice the one common thing so far is that well all are not on DMD's and we all take Gabapentin. Me? Im also taking amitryptaline (spell?) prozac and nuvigil. And occasionally percocet for pain.
Avatar f tn org) I know you can get help on the Oxycontin, (its a $20.00 copay) Provigil, and Prozac. The only med that is not covered is the Endocet. But if your Dr. is flexible OxyIR is available. Use must not have any pharmacy insurance and meet the income requirements to be qualified. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any additional information.
Avatar f tn I have struggled with fatigue for years, and the one thing that has helped me the most is a medication called Nuvigil. I have sleep apnea and depression and anxiety. I was put on Seroquel and Lexapro. These last two helped lessen the depression and anxiety but made my sleepiness and fatigue much worse. Also, I was putting on a lot of weight due to a strong craving for sweets every afternoon.
433485 tn?1321813390 Now I am noticing that my anxiety and depression are coming back....I have researched on the internet about Nuvigil and one of the side effects is anxiety and depression, so I am going to stop taking and call him. My question is has anyone else experienced this? I go see him in December for my med maintenance appt. I want to add that this is a bad time of the year for me as my 19 year old son was murdered in Dec. of 1997 and his birthday is coming up on Nov. 29.
1147609 tn?1263583431 Two weeks ago, I weighed 135. I've weighed that for most of my not pregnant adult life...but all of a sudden I now weigh 130. It fell within two weeks. I've started so many new drugs and am new to MS...so I'm not sure what could have done it. It certainly was NOT diet as I had a very hearty Christmas. :) I'm on Copaxone, Celexa, Nuvigil, and just finished up a round on 1000mg of Medrol for an exacerbation. I started both the Copaxone and Nuvigil three weeks ago.
797195 tn?1240579823 I've been on both Provigil and Nuvigil. There is NO comparison. Nuvigil is hands down MUCH more effective to me than Provigil. Provigil always gave me a "rush" upper feeling. It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil.
295756 tn?1247125892 Is Nuvigil supposed to be a drug for Fibro? you're saying? I've been trying to find a new doctor for over a year since my old one left town, and I don't have my appointment until August, so I haven't heard of it yet. I think I'd better write this one down is they're saying its for Fibro and you had such an adverse reaction. I also find that allergic reaction to meds or other things often, as in your case, affects my face and scalp (aren't we lucky....
620048 tn?1358018235 I tried a free 7 day supply of Nuvigil; I found that it lasts longer than Provigil, and seems pretty powerful. I found myself a little irritable, and had some rapid heartbeats, but that's something that can happen with me if I take a decongestant, so I wouldn't say that you would have the same side effects. I would suggest that you take it pretty early in the morning, as I really had a hard time sleeping, even with meds to help that.
2288403 tn?1339564728 Did you both get it thru/paid for by your insurance? I've heard they won't cover it unless you have nercolepsy. I have Cigna. I've been on Amantadine for a year and a half and it definitely could be way better. I'm soooooo tired all the time.
Avatar m tn I also have severe obstructive sleep apnea, and use a CPAP at night. The provigil does keep me from napping during the day, and I take it when driving longer distances. I would caution you that taking a stimulant does not make up for lost sleep, it may work for a couple of weeks, months or so, but the lack of sleep will come back and manifest itself and make things worse. You should get treatment your sleep apnea.
Avatar f tn The pharmaceutical company that makes these two drugs (nuvigil and provigil) has a program that your neurologist should have the application for to help you pay for the prescription. I will try to find out what the name of it is (I am on it). I ended up getting my provigil for free. I will look and hopefully post back later today!
Avatar f tn hi olly, despite what we might call it, there is no such thing as a MINOR heart attack. It sounds like maybe you are in the same way as I was - little heart damage and fortunate to get medical attention quickly to prevent something larger happening. I take modafinil (provigil generic) which is pretty close to nuvigil, with no problem and my cardiologist knows I am on this drug. They key is to talk to all of your docs and make sure they know and approve of the drugs you are taking.....
572651 tn?1530999357 We have had many discussion about Provigil vs Nuvigil - I just received an email with the offer from Nuvigil for 7 days free and a prescription card that will cover the co-pay (up to $50) for many people. Though it probably has the usual exclusion of rx's filled with govt. programs. I thought this was worth sharing. You should find the link off their home page at nuvigil . c o m - take the spaces out, of course! be well, stay alert!
620048 tn?1358018235 For me there is a wonderful difference between Provigil and Nuvigil. Nuvigil starts to work faster, lasts longer, and really gives me mental energy that I haven't had in several years. The only down side for me is that Nuvigil has basically returned my energy and mental skills to normal. That is good. However, my body has lost so much conditioning over the last 2 years that I will have to work to get my strength and conditioning back. Now I have the energy to do that.
729135 tn?1247495402 My neurologist ordered the genetics test, just a blood test, although now I'm finding that it isn't the only proof. I've had a spinal tap testing for MS, which was messed up, but I hear that that is another way to find out. If I go ahead with the tap again, which is horrible, I will have them test for everything possible. My neurologist just wrote me off saying she can't help me, and made an appt. with a Neuropsychiatrist.
Avatar f tn ( I was prescribed Nuvigil by my neurologist and between the dislike of taking another pill, and the side effects and addiction possibility of the Nuvigil I am VERY hesitant to take it. I am at wits end! I have done ALL the steps and done everything but the Nuvigil and I am still fatigued. ANY Suggestions??? Poker247 a.k.a.
Avatar f tn ) There was an uncomfortable transition period when we stopped the Adderall and hand not yet started the Nuvigil. I forgot the doctor had a plan and felt I was being jerked around. Someone reminded me the doctor had a plan and I felt better. Hell I can easily withstand suffering a few weeks of transition, that's nothing compared to what I've been through! I'm doing fine on Nuvigil now and hardly ever need Ativan, though I still have it. Every patient is different.
Avatar f tn I am reading a lot about the drug nuvigil and it seems it can cause insomnia. Has anyone experienced this? I am also going to take cymbalta so it may counteract it a bit. I am a little nervous to take them tomorrow. Oh my .. nothing about this disease is easy. Thanks for all your advice and knowledge. I appreciate it more than u know. love to all .....
Avatar f tn I have taken both Provigil and Nuvigil. The neuro that treats my sleep apnea prescribed Provigil for me several years ago before I was diagnosed with MS. They are expensive meds but do more than any other drug I take to noticably improve my daily life. I'd give up many other things to continue to afford either one. Neither drug gets rid of my fatigue or boosts my energy (wish they did). What they do is help to keep me awake and alert during the day.
Avatar n tn I have severe sleep apnea and use a sleep apenea machine and I can tell you it is not a perfect science using this machine it is not a cure and has imperfections, even using this machine I too have day time sleepyness and I have black outs driving my car it is very scary blacking out while driving I need help, I told my doctor and he prescribed me nuvigil and it cured my blackout outs and I felt awake for the first time in years, I felt alive and was able to think clearly and thought I was on cl
Avatar f tn Ive been on lyrica and nuvigil fro fibro pain and fatigue, and just found out I'm pregnant. I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken either one of those while pregnant. I've stopped them for i was on only 50 mg of lyrica and about 100 of nuvigil. but I'm still worried, and i feel like I've been hit by a train once again, the pain is almost unbearable, i know my doc personally, have an appt. with him for the 12th.
635835 tn?1272539383 I was prescribed Nuvigil today by my MS doctor and wanted to see how people liked it. I searched and found some posts, but mostly from people who were just starting it. This is the first medication I've ever been put on for symptom management, so I am excited, but don't want to get my hopes up.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have a script written for nuvigil? They are trying to get more people to take it and I pay 5.00 with insurance right now. It is one of those cards that has limitiations but ensures you have some discount. I hope that you are able to figure this out soon.
