My partner was today prescribed Propranolol for anxiety. Can you tell me how long it will be until these take effect? He was hoping immediately. Also, I was concerned to read that Propranolol may lead to depression. Can you shed any light?
I just got Propranolol prescribed to me by my doctor for anxiety. I was reading side effects online and decreased sex drive and having a hard time orgasming were listed. I used to be on Seroquel and for the 3 years I took it I could not reach an orgasm. Will Propranolol have the same effect? Or is there a better medicine for me?
I was on Xanax for many years for anxiety and panic attacts. I'm also a nurs. My dr prescribed propranolol 10mg twice a day. Yes it does make me tired BUT......it is so much safer than Xanax. Getting off Xanax can have fatal results. So I think taking Propranolol is thebetter choice. My heart rate is slower and feel so much more relaxed.

You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
Because of my symptoms, my doctor is ruling out physical causes before diagnosing it as stress (which will be his diagnosis if my daily adrenaline levels turn out to be high). He put me on Propranolol for a month for anxiety and my other issues.
I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
I have been on Paxil for 9 months and my dr just changed me over to propranolol 20 MG 3 times a day. I have felt weird this week and have not been able to sleep at all at night. This has been a long 9 months...anxiety seems to be the root cause. I was having terrible panic attacks. Any advice? I'm very new to all this.
I slowly got off propranolol 2 weeks ago after my surgery for hyperthyroid and after i did i starting getting really bad anxiety attacks, this whole week has been horrible, from day to night i havnt been able to relax. How long does it take for someones body to adjust off being used to propranolol? Any one else have this problem?
Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
i have recently been taking prozac 20mg per day and 40mg of propranolol for my anxiety since the prozac has started kicking in ive started to notice servere lack in concentration and feel on edge all the time, kind of a high feeling, but then sometimes i can feel really tired all of a sudden..are these normal side effects? will they go away when my body starts getting used to the med?i also feel very on edge like i need to let the steam out.
They also help slowing a rapid heartrate due to stress, and they prevent panic and anxiety. Other beta blockers lack this effect. The aching can't be heart related if you are 18, and your echo and stress test are normal, so the beta blocker won't help you there.
Of course all blood work came back ok and I didnt have a heart attack but they said that when I just casually walk my heart rate is to high so they put me on Propranolol. I had a bad bout with Amytriptaline 3 years ago and Ive never taken any meds but 1 since out of fear of dying. Since I have been on the med things are much better but its like my heart is fighting the meds to skip. I just feel uncomfortable and still out of breath when I walk.
Hi, i am a 19 year old girl and weigh approx 8 and a half stone, I am taking a dose of propranolol 10mg twice a day for anxiety, I don't do cocain that often but I was wondering if there is any possibility it can harm me or kill me in any way if the two were mixed?
Hello, i'm taking about 3 months propranolol 10mg for migraines - twice a day, morning and evening. I suffer from social anxiety, but the doctor does not know .. The problem of migraines is separately When i have Anxiety attack i am sweating a lot, especially the plams. My doctor wants me to go on 10mg lexapro I am very afraid of medication and was wondering whats the best time to take this medication morning or night and can you take these two together. I now take Propanolol and Citolopram and still no problems. Propanolol is used to treat anxiety, high BP, cluster headaches, tremors, aids in sleeping, and maybe more. It has a short life which means it doesn't stay in your system very long, probably much like the Xanax. But they're safe together.
My husband, who has Type I Diabetes, was recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder II. His doctor prescribed Oxcarbazepine (daily) and Propranolol to use as needed for anxiety/mania attacks--but I see Oxcarbazepine AND diabetes drugs listed in the "caution" section of interactions for Propranolol. My question is, of course, are they safe to use in combination if he is also a type I diabetic, and secondly, why didn't she prescribe a more specific anti-anxiety medication like a valium?
Will any doctor prescribe propranolol to me for need based public speaking anxiety, or is the only place the psychiatrist?
I assume you are taking vyvanse for ADHD? A side affect of vyvanse is anxiety symptoms. Propranolol is an anti-anxiety medication. So your doctor may be giving you the propranolol to help counter any of the anxiety side affects you may get with the vyvanse. The best thing to do is to call your doctor and to ask him/her what the drug is being prescribed for. It is always a good idea for your own benefit to know what you are taking and why.
During the first week I had countless flutters and thumps while swimming and playing tennis but I told myself it is anxiety and I continued. After a week flutters stopped and now I am swimming 1,5km everyday without a single ectopic or any panic. When I do not listen to my heart I do not get them:) But the problem that I still have is my work. I work in private company and I train people.
So, I started researching it and have found that it is not generally used for someone with generalized anxiety but usually for those that have anxiety in certain situations. I wake up and go to sleep with a lump of anxiety in my chest. I also read that it is not good to use regularly for someone with asthma. Any suggestions or feedback on your experiences with this?
Hello, I am a twenty year old girl. I was diagnosed with palpitation and anxiety problems three years ago and was prescribed to take medicine, which constituted mainly Hipress 50 or Telonol 50 or Dizeral, according to availability. I started taking such medication since then, and recently I have got to know that the main compound, propranolol, present in these medicine pills, is also used to treat PTSD which is a cure for the said, by erasing memory of the patient.
propranolol does not help with the anxiety itself (the anxious thinking and negative thoughts) - it will only help with the physical symptoms of anxiety. To confirm this, you can google propranolol and find for yourself.
I am 22 and I've been on propranolol for about 3 years starting at 160mg for panic attacks and anxiety. I have weaned myself (with the help of my doc) down to 10 mg in the morn and 10 mg at night. It's taken about a year and a half! Last week I found out I was pregnant! Unplanned but exciting! however I have to come off my propranolol now for good. I've started to miss my evening dose and then next week they want me to do 10mg on alternate days, then cut it out completely.
I've been on Propranolol for HBP, Tachycardia and Anxiety for 3 weeks. Before Taking the drug, my BPs were always around 140-150 systolic and 85-90 diastolic and my pulse hung around 100. After 3 weeks of taking Propranolol, my blood pressure remained about the same but my pulse had gone down to around 70. MY question is: Can a non-selective beta-blocker reduce pulse but not blood pressure.
I originally was taking it for anxiety, but now i feel as though it is good for my drug problem and saves me from having a heart attack. Is this true? Because I feel as though the propranolol slows down my heart rate and makes my pulse lower than it would be if i just did coke. I'm trying to fix my problem but i want to know if the combination of coke and propranolol is dangerous. Please provide me with an answer.
I want to make sure I still don't have a lot in my system before I take more. Also, I suffer from migraines and some anxiety (mostly due to pvc's) and have thought about taking Propranolol on a daily basis. Can you tell me more about the safety of Propranolol and it's long term use? I know it causes fatigue etc... but how about the more serious side effects like bradycardia and bronchial spasm etc...? Are these very rare occurances?
