peg-intron

154668 tn?1290115995 I don’t know which meds you’re taking; Pegasys or PEG-Intron, but you might consider calling their patient hotline and bring this up with their educating nurse. From the years I’ve been in here, I don’t believe an *excursion* to room temperature for a day or two will break down the proteins involved. Northern hemisphere=cool ambient temperatures? Better to confirm this with someone authoritative, though :o). Can you ask the flight attendant to put the container in the on board refrigerator?
Avatar m tn ve never used them. When I was the Peg-Intron in the past, I never used the pen, I always used the other method of Peg-Intron (a vial or Prefilled syringe - don't remember which it was). It's been a few years since the Peg-Intron for me. One time, I had this Pen-like device for another medication - not an interferon drug and I did not do well with it. I was a device where you pushed it up against your skin and pushed a button and the drug was dispensed with a 'click' sound...
Avatar f tn Yes they are different molecules. Pegasys (alpha 2a) is a larger molecule and stays in the body longer at higher concentrations. Pegintron (alpha 2b) is a small molecule and a week after injection the concentration in the body is very low. if you search you will be able to find studies that support either one being more effective. some people don't cure with one, but are able to cure with the other.
Avatar m tn By removing the packaging you are also removing any barrier to help protect your ready pen and making it easier for germs and bacteria to infect your ready pen. I agree the boxes are bigger than they need to be but I'm not will to risk infecting my needle to get around that problem however unlikely that might be.
862235 tn?1336060295 I had a jam last night and called the nurse. She had me use another redi-pen. She said they either work or they don't work. Since I couldn't get the plunger to plunge, I did not release any medication. I'm bringing it back to her to inspect. (Since I'm on a clinical trial she dispenses all my meds.
Avatar f tn Do I take the three drugs all at once? I know the Peg-interferon Redi-pen is used only once a week. And, the Ribavarin everyday, twice a day. The Savaldi is to be taken once a day everyday. But, am I to take them all at the same time for my initial dosage?
Avatar m tn Ive been on peg /riba for 12 weeks .now with a new carrier ,they wont cover the pen part of the treatment .all help groups tell me ,I make too much for assistance . Is this the end of my treatment ? I cant afford what they want .
Avatar n tn I am past 72 weeks but still have several months of meds prescribed. A few here said maybe use these to taper off the peg. Why is it beneficial to taper off? What is a good schedule for tapering the redi-pen? How 'bout the Riba. Should it be tapered as well? Thanks for any feedback. You all are great!
543518 tn?1245322027 I had 5 failures with the redi-pen, it seems I got a bad batch, where the product was mixing incorrectly. It is quite stressful when it fails, if feels like you have "wasted" something, but my wife is a nurse, and we were definitly mixing correcty. I actually gave up on redi-pen, and mixed myself (which is also an option). In saying that, it may have just been dumb luck, perhaps the batches are better now?
Avatar m tn In all the weeks i tx i have had that happen a few times, i use the redi-pen so you can't pull back which doc thinks is a waste of time as long as your giving them in your normal areas....... Good luck with your tx.
541844 tn?1244309824 I asked my doctor for pegasys over peg intron. He addressed my concerns and told me sx's for me would be similar with either drug and kinetics were similar for both with regard to initial suppression of the virus. I had read about peaks and troughs with peg intron. He said that was dated info. Ok, so we decided to stay with peg intron. Now...about dosage. Can anyone explain why pegasys is one dose fits all and peg intron is weight based? I will get 80 mcg with weight at 114 lbs.
Avatar f tn t mind, for those who injected all alone for first time, who used the syringe and who used the redi-pen? I would think the redi-pen might be easier to use, but seems like it would hurt... Thanks again!!
Avatar f tn I just took my first shot of Peg Intron Friday night, and I got pretty sick, but thank God after I stayed in bed the next day I felt better. Do these reactions happen every time you inject it or does your body eventually get use to it. Also my viral load is only 300 and I have genotype 1. Can anyone give me more information about my Hep C being cured after this treatment or does it ever get cured?
410850 tn?1229178711 I don’t know if this helps any, but it’s not possible to ‘pull back’ on pen delivery devices, such as PEG-Intron’s ready pen, or any of the currently available insulin pen devices. It’s really difficult to mess these injections up—as long as it gets under your skin and stays there, you’re good to go :o).
335297 tn?1210597884 t have as good as a viral load drop as I did with the Peg-Intron. I had more sides with the Peg-Intron but a bigger viral load drop. I hope for you, that all the rest of your treatment day are sides free.
442340 tn?1326817417 He uses Pegasys and my GI doctor (whom I love) uses peg-intron. My question for all peg-intron users is how bad have your sx been? The doctor I saw today said pegasys seems to have less sx, but of course not all people react the same way. I love my GI doctor and want to treat with him, but am I making a mistake by going Peg-Intron? Thanks for your input. My stats: 26 years old, really healthy, active female, geno 3a, VL 949,000. No biopsy done Thanks!
901131 tn?1293744553 As a result of its controlled-release mechanism, Locteron was dosed half as frequently as PEG-Intron. PEG-Intron is one of two currently marketed pegylated interferon products for the treatment of hepatitis C, a market that currently exceeds $2.5 billion in worldwide sales. Additional results from SELECT-2 demonstrated the substantial tolerability advantages of Locteron.
Avatar n tn Just confirm that she had used Peg-Intron (pegelated) or Intron (simple interferone) previously. I think your mom should consult with good specilaist as he/she will first assess the condition of your mom whether she is in condition to support Treatment or not. seems to be from Pakistan or india ???
Avatar m tn If you seen dribble then its a safe bet the redi-pen worked and the meds went in. I used the redi-pen during my first tx and there was times i couldn't tell where i had given the shot and other times i would have a nice red spot...
Avatar f tn However, there are newer versions called Pegulated interferons (Pegasys or Peg-Intron), which only need to be injected once a week. There is also Infergen, which is most often a daily injection.
335297 tn?1210597884 I found out two weeks ago that the HCV virus is back and so I have begun Week 1 of treatment. My doctor has prescribed Peg-Intron since I had so many side-effects with Pegasys. Does anyone have any experience with both Pegasys and Peg-Intron? I am genotype 1, stage 3, grade 0-1. I took my first injection a few days ago and Peg-Intron completely wiped me out with feel and aches and pains but I am trying to accept what is to come and hope that my experience with the first tratment will help me.
422881 tn?1257603579 Well, if your HBV DNA wasn't all that high before your Peg Intron, it's not surprising that you would go UND. As long as you stay HBV DNA UND on Peg Intron, your HepB is being managed well. It's obviously the desired outcome. Here's the thing, you have a timeframe for Peg Intron for HCV treatment. I think your doc will stop Peg Intron based on HCV because there's no timeframe for HBV.
Avatar m tn I finished treatment with Peg-Intron and Ribavirin in 2007, after a 24 week course. I acheived non-detectable levels of HCVRNA after 4 weeks of treatment. I have, however, since relapsed. My current doctor would like to retreat with Infergen and Ribavirin, with the belief that the HCV virus has developed some form of immunity to the pegylated interferon.
Avatar n tn s weight is 60 kg and dr. recommend her 80 microgram dose of peg-intron injections with 400mg Virex capsulse. While I have read on Peg-intron literature that its dose is given by weight. For monotherapy use 0.5 microgram/kg/week. For combination therapy 1.5 microgram/kg/week...i think my mother case is combination therapy (injections + capsules). And for 60 kg weight injection dose should be 100 micrograms. Please advise.
