7058746 tn?1393435420 I'm in the same situation, I found out last week and don't meet the diabetes educator until Wednesday. Its all about the sugar and carbs and counting them. Carbs turn into sugar so you have to make sure your not eating too many. I've found some great recipes on the diabetes association website. The internet can be scary to read but also you can find some very helpful information, there are so many recipes to choose from. Hope that helps and good luck!
Avatar f tn It seems to go beyond normal, the part of feigning to be sick to get you to do what she wants. My brother is in his sixties now and still hardly eats anything, and my parents let him get away with it because he had a tremendous temper and it was just easier that way. Kids figure out what they can get away with. But as her way of getting what she wants is getting out of your control, it might be time to pursue some counseling whether professionally or in-family.
Avatar n tn This type of diabetes is generally an eating disease. I would see a good nutritionist for some hands-on advice, and read read read -- lots of books on eating to control blood sugar. There are also many supplements that have been used to control blood sugar, such as holy basil and cinnamon. But since you have to be in control of your blood sugar, you want to learn how to use them properly and an internet site isn't the best place to do that.
1943833 tn?1349276589 Thank you for your reply. I'm a bit surprised by the resistance in the veterinary's office (or at least mine) to the idea of home cooking for animals. With so much research available for humans on the benefits of less additives, higher quality, less processed, etc food, you'd think they would be more open minded to the idea.
Avatar f tn I totally understand! I was diagnosed early as well and started shedding weight like crazy. Also had a total meltdown one night because i just wanted to 'eat normal' lol. There are some great recipes out there for diabetics. Try some chilis or chicken quesadilla soup with just a few tortillas on the side, maybe. I find baking with splenda really cuts down carbs without killing the flavor, as well. and find a good nutritionist.

Avatar n tn I totally agree with ggreg. Go to the grocery store and buy some Activia brand yogurt. You will probably have to take this for 2 weeks before seeing any results. If you do see results after 2 weeks, don't stop taking it. Take it for a few months. Every single day. If you tested positive for C. Albicans, you have a real problem. The anti-biotics knocked out too much good bacteria in your gut making the bad bacteria in your gut get out of hand. Sugar feeds candida, making it worse.
Avatar f tn They fall below the allotted carb intake for each meal. Did your doctor send you to a nutritionist? Mine sent me to one who specializes in diabetes and gestational diabetes and she was a huge help!

Avatar f tn Anyone know of any good websites with diabetic friendly recipes? My mom has diabetes and I'm trying to help her out with a few meals.
Avatar f tn lol I stay googling all kinds of recipes and stuff. From Chinese foods, to soups, to Mexican foods, salads, Italian foods, quick meals, ALL sorts of things. lol Mainly because I crave so many different foods. Nowadays I'm always cooking. I used to NEVER cook. lol Am I the only one?
Avatar f tn My Mom (68 years old very healthy otherwise) has been diagnosed with carcinosarcoma stage 3C ovarian cancer. I'm trying to find information on nutrition. She is undergoing chemo every three weeks taxol/carbo. I'm getting so much conflicting information on nutrition. I've been told she should have soy milk instead of cow's milk and another nutritionist said no soy milk and no rice milk! Milk is just one food that we are getting mixed info about.
Avatar f tn Soy products, such as tofu and tempeh, are derived from the soybean, and can replace meat in some recipes. An expanding market for soy products means you can find soy hot dogs, burgers, bacon and sausage at your super market. Beans, like black, kidney, lima and baked beans all have more than 10 grams of protein per cup. Include chickpeas, split peas, haricots and lentils. Eggs are a complete protein source and a good source of energy. They contain vitamin D.
Avatar n tn There are many diet plans for diabetics, but the ones that work best are usually custom-made for individuals, tailored to their specific needs by their nutritionist/dietitian. Was the diet plan your doctor gave you created with your input and have you discussed your concerns with him? I think it's very important to be able to communicate with our health providers, although I know very well that sometimes it's difficult.

After this daunting exercise, we believe Dog Food Scoop is likely the best dog food resource you'll find for comparing KD dog food brands and other low protein dog food for canine kidney failure, or different dog illnesses.
Avatar m tn I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), so I have all these symptoms and some others when I'm around any amount of chlorine, so that means I can't be around public pools either. There are natural cleaning and disinfecting alternatives you can use in place of bleach that you can find recipes for on a site called care2.com. Just use the site's search engine for "natural cleaning recipes" or "green cleaning recipes".

Avatar f tn Since then, I have been to two endocrinologists, a dermatologist, a nutritionist, and have had two or three thyroid panels. Thyroid problems run in my family, but I have never had positive panels. I have been going to the gym since April five times a week for an hour and a half. Some days are cardio, some are weight training, and most days are mixed about half and half. Always keeping my hear rate between 169 and 182. I pretty much only drink water or tea. I rarely drink soda or sugary drinks.
Avatar f tn Nothing screwed up my body more than working the night shift. If one is available to you, possibly at your school, consider talking to a nutritionist. They can help you even if you're on a budget. Stay away from pre-packaged diet meals or processed foods of any kind. They're full of garbage and a waste of what money you have. To lose the weight you have to commit 120% and do what you need to do because its not easy for us PCOS sufferers...
Avatar f tn m going through or has any ideas as to what is it or what else I should do? My next step is to see a nutritionist and then go on from there. Any help will be appreciated!
