Avatar m tn Then he prescribed Doxycyline Hylcate pills which are used for staph infections. It got rid of the the bumps for a few months like the Mupirocin, but they came back a week ago. My doctor has said the previous tests may have been false negatives since we may not have caught it early enough. I really don't if it is Herpes or a Staph infection. Can anyone assist?
Avatar m tn I am a female and recently was diagnosed with a staph infection. I took medication, was allergic to it, but the dots seemed to go away. They then came back and the doctors said that I tested negative for a staph infection. I do not know what it is though. They seem like small pimples and are itchy when they first appear on my skin. They started in my crotch region and have occurred in other places such as my butt or arm. I am not sure what it is though.
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis or bacterial infection by staph aureus which is highly contagious. Apply warm compresses on the lumps and keep the area clean. Topical antiseptic treatment and topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment is very useful.
Avatar n tn I am curious if you can develop a staph infection from close contact to someone with strep, considering I was nursing to him all weekend.
Avatar m tn A month and a half ago, a staph infection appeared on one of my temples. It started with a simple boil that formed and then disappeared in a couple days, and after that a large lesion and several others formed in the same area. Three days after finishing 10 days of Bactrim, another small boil appeared in the same area, so I took another 10 days of Bactrim and was put on 5 days of Altabax ointment. Since then, I have not seen any new boils.

Avatar m tn Hello, Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus. . Hair follicles that are blocked by greasy creams, petroleum jelly, or similar products are more vulnerable to infection. Bacterial skin infections can be spread by shared cosmetics or washcloths, close human contact, or by contact with pus from a boil or carbuncle. Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.
Avatar n tn Could this be some sort of folliculitis or staph infection from the waxing and friction from sex in hot weather? I also have a slight fever.
Avatar n tn Hi, This could be a bacterial skin infection like Impetigo or an allergic reaction. Impetigo is a superficial skin infection, caused by staphylococcus ("staph") and streptococcus ("strep") bacteria. Though it is more common in children it can be seen in adults. The non-bullous variety is the common form, caused by both staph and strep. It appears as small blisters or scabs, which then form yellow or honey-colored crusts. These often start around the nose and on the face.
Avatar m tn It was originally identified as staph and treated with Mupirocin and Clobetasol by my Dr. Unfortunately 2 weeks of use has done nothing. I haven't been able to see her again so I figured I'd post here. I have a feeling this could be fungal, but am not sure. As you can see in the pic, it is a red irritation and slightly raised. It has shown only minor response to both clobetasol and mupirocin. It has never itched.

Avatar n tn Hi Differentials for this may include folliculitis, an ingrown hair or pseudofolliculitis barbae, or a fungal infection. I suggest that you avoid shaving the area. This may only worsen the condition. Shaving may cause hairs to grow and bend inward. This leads to ingrown hairs which may cut and irritate the skin. Wash the area with warm water and keep it dry and clean at most times. Apply mupirocin, an antibacterial cream over the area once daily and see if this responds.
Avatar m tn The progression generally is from red bump to clear fluid-filled blister then to ulceration and saabbing. Third, as you seem to know, the initial infection with HSV usually is associated with lymph node inflammation in the groin and often with fever, headache, etc. So my bet is that the culture/swab tests will be negative. If so, and if your clinician believes herpes is a reasonable possibility, you could have a blood test in a few weeks.
Avatar n tn I had that problem for over a year. It turned out to be staph infection. I was told to clean with peroxide every day and leave open to air as much as possible. Also, you need ant-biotics. The dr needs to do a culture to know which anti-biotic you need to clear it up. They keep coming and you have to get them to drain and continue using perioxide til it heals. It is best to go to the dr because it will go to other parts of the body.

Avatar m tn Earlier this afternoon (july 7th), i ended up going to urgent care and the doctor said i had impetigo, and he wrote me up a prescription for antibiotic ointment (Mupirocin Ointment USP, 2%) and sent me on my way. I still have some questions though! 1.) i read that impetigo is highly contagious. How contagious is it? i always wash my hands after i apply the ointment, and I don't touch the area at all, except when im putting the ointment on. 2.

Avatar n tn Hi, Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions. This seems to be a case of folliculitis from your description. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. Folliculitis of the buttocks is common and unimportant. You might try putting an antibiotic ointment like bacitracin or neosporin in your nostrils every night for a month, because staph germs hang out there and sometimes "seed" other body parts. Do not pop these lesions.
Avatar m tn The Description you gave of your Throat w/ the White Streaks, along w/ the Symptoms of Fatigue & feeling run down, as well as having a Loss of Appetite Sounds like Strep Throat or Mono, but did you have a Sore Throat or Fever at any point?? Taking Antibiotics, like Penicillin/Amoxicillin would've Helped if it was Strep, & IF it was Strep w/in 24hrs of starting Antibiotics you're no longer Confessors. I actually just learned all about Strep, bc about 1.
Avatar n tn Free heath care) She told me that the bumps were pretty normal in teens and that I could be having a yest infection, or like you said a staph infection. She gave me a anti fungal cream and ant biotic fro the yeast infection because she wasn't completely sure what it could be yet. She took a urine sample for my uti also. So, I'll be getting results soon, in a day or two.
