Common Questions and Answers about Mupirocin for infection

bactroban

Avatar n tn So i went to the doctor again because the bumps came back on my vagina, and he stated that i have a common skin infection that is common amoung men and women. I am still worrying even though i got the cream. There are 6 bumps and one of them is bigger than the others and it has white puss inside. I was wondering if it is a common skin condition?
Avatar f tn In case of boil inside the nose which is infection of the hair follicle inside the nose, it takes its own course for a week or so in healing and no treatment may be required. Apply warm moist compresses three or four times a day over the tender area. This will help to bring the boil to a head and encourage easy drainage. Along with the warm compresses, you can take OTC pain killers and a course of antibiotics. I hope it helps.
Avatar m tn So I've had what I thought was balanitis on and off on my penis for years. But no fungal cream ever worked. The only cream that worked was Mupirocin 2% - fast forward today, I was masturbating and its always triggered by friction and this thing came back. However it seems like I was too late in the getting the cream this time because whatever infection is happening isn't going down. Here are my symptoms below...
Avatar f tn Thank you for the information! The staff infection has crossed my mind and I do believe that may be what I am dealing with here. Are the topicl medications that you noted above available over the counter or do I need a prescription for these? Thanks again!
616582 tn?1225068601 The ointment is called Bactroban (Mupirocin). So if you took the bactrim pill for your sinus infection you usually break out all over or at least on the chest. Perhaps you are allergic to the bactroban (mupirocin) ointmnet. Since you applied it locally to the penis area. Personally, I am allergic to the Bactroban (mupirocin) but not the bactrim. Let me know if you have any more quesitons.
Avatar n tn You have told here to apply mupirocin (Bactroban®) twice daily for a week. I want to know that if application of mupirocin (Bactroban®) shows improvement but is not cured fully in one week, can I continue its application for longer period? If yes then for how long. Please give these details. I am looking forward to your reply. Regards Abhi.
Avatar m tn Sometime within the next week, I recall one instance of my scrotum being very itchy. Later that week (August 7th) I left for a vacation which included bathing in the ocean, lounging in a wet swimsuit, sweating in wet swimsuit, etc. By the 10th or 11th I noticed the bumps in my groin were gone and now looked like 4 ulcers, two one each side of my groin crease symmetrical to each other. I also noticed maybe 5 small ulcers on the left side of my scrotum.
Avatar m tn Hello, Since the skin tests have come positive for the bacterial infection, so you can continue with Mupirocin which is a topical antibiotics. For specific antibiotics the culture sensitivity test will come positive and then only can they be prescribed. An oral course of antibiotic can be taken for very severe cases. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I immediately went to urgent care and got full std panel done and it came back negative and i was told it could be fungus infection and used clotrimazole. no improvement for 10 days. so i get tested again and all tests came back negative. doctor prescribed econozole nitrate. 4 days in and no improvement, i went to skin doctor and he prescribed cifron + mupirocin ointment. slight improvement for a week. so he added azythromycin+gentamicin to the existing treatment.
Avatar m tn I have read and been told that antibiotic treatment is usually the best treatment for nose boils. What I would like to know, is WHICH antibiotic(s) is recommended, at what strength, and for how long? You should also know, that I am allergic to Penicillin. I live very near a clean and safe Mexican border town and have shopped there many times. Nuevo Progresso, Mexico, is known for its quality pharmacias, and I could quickly and safely go there to purchase antibiotics without a prescription.
Avatar n tn He gave me a steroid (nebulized) to decrease the internal swelling and I am about to start trying mupirocin (nebulized) for 3 weeks to see if that helps. I do have my doubts if this will work (mupirocin precisely). I have "klebsiella ozaenea" infection and I was under the impression mupirocin is effective on gram positive bacteria and the Ozaenea is a gram negative bacteria. I wanted to ask if any doctors on here can tell me if this is a good try.
Avatar m tn Then he prescribed Doxycyline Hylcate pills which are used for staph infections. It got rid of the the bumps for a few months like the Mupirocin, but they came back a week ago. My doctor has said the previous tests may have been false negatives since we may not have caught it early enough. I really don't if it is Herpes or a Staph infection. Can anyone assist?
Avatar f tn They did clear up entirely after about a week.I had them for two weeks previously before I had gone to doctor.I now have boils popping up again, but around my bellybutton area. What could be causing these?I also had a case of the shingles in this same area when I was eleven years old(many years ago).I am very concerned about whether they are contagious or not as I have seven kids and do not want them to suffer with this.
Avatar f tn finally i consulted a doctor and he said it was Balinitis. he gave me ointment and 6 different medicines for 20 days. still the infection is not gone. then again he chenged the medicine and ointment and advised me another 7 days course of the 3 new tablets. why it is not being cured even after so many days of medication ?
Avatar n tn If this is an antibiotic lotion, or cream, can I use it indefinitely? I have had follicullitis for years, for what I seem to find out...and I keep a very good hygiene. Will it help with the scarring on my legs? Thank you!
Avatar n tn This January my son (2 years old) got a rash in the pelvic area that became infected, having a white top on each spot. He was prescribed mupirocin and he got well. The rash came back, also in his legs (like spreading) Everytime he has the rash (looks like pimples 5-6 at the time in the pelvic area and his penis very swallen and red) The rash came back for the 3rd time and the doctor said that was yeast, now he was prescribed nystatin, got better.
Avatar m tn why did they give you the mupirocin cream? and where are you putting it? i do not know why you would be prescribed this; do you know? the only comment i can make that i have experienced...do not take any antibiotics before ruling out a fungal infection. this will exasperate your symptoms and allow the fungus to grow wild. i also suggest you get a magnifying app on your phone, with a good light and take close up pics of the flare up area.
Avatar f tn Hi and so sorry you are going through all this. You are probably allergic to the sulfa drug in the Bacterim (ampicillin/sulbactam) and the Keflex I don't know but can be allergic to any drug/antibiotic. I'm allergic to Murpirocin, neosporin, bacitracin, clindamycin, metronidazole all topicals and had a syncope from a tetracycline type drug. My brother is anaphylaxic to penicillin. It sounds like you can tolerate Mupirocin but the topical isn't enough for your tissue infection.
Avatar f tn Well she had a surgery about 6 months ago and we received mupirocin ointment for it. I was curious to find out if the mupirocin ointment would have any affect on her sores? I know it's to fight infection and bacterial growth but I was hoping it would alleviate her pain and sooth her raw hot spot. Thanks in advance!
Avatar m tn s yesterday and he game me an antibody shot, and put me on Cephalexin (500mg) and Mupirocin ointment. It looks exactly the same as yesterday, but I think my stomach and back has gone down. I was wanting to know what it was? (Docter said it may have been an infection) They can be itchy at times, but not always.
