The rls has calmed down now...it's just the horrible aches that feel so deep in my bones.
1794183 tn?1315493788 Does Methadone get into your bones and stay in your system for the rest of your life??? I just heard this from someone but i have never heard that before? Hope someone knows the answer because it kinda freaked me out!!!
Avatar f tn What do you mean Methadone gets in your bones ?
Avatar n tn OMG!! After TWO SOLID months in withdrawals from Methadone, I am finally able to WALK from one end of the house to the other.....3-4 days in hospital..still WICKED headaches and SEVERE depression and anxiety. And oh, the PAIN. I can honestly describe in great detail SATAN'S Seventh Circle of Hell!!! I had nearly a 400mg/day oxy habit(records to prove it) and routinely, every month in fact spent about 5 to 8 days in withdrawals. EASY comparedly to coming off of Suboxine at 24mg/day.
Avatar n tn Methadone produces no serious side effects, although some patients experience minor symptoms such as constipation, water retention, drowsiness, skin rash, excessive sweating, and changes in libido. Once methadone dosage is adjusted and stabilized or tolerance increases, these symptoms usually subside. From what I was able to read, there are no real side effects of Methadone that would cause the issues you are experiencing. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn ll feel sharp sticky pains right on top of my shin bones often and its starting in other places like my shoulders but mainly on top of my shin bones. Sometimes my fingers dont move right like they are locked in place or double jointed in a way and I just have to work it out. They feel like they are so dry inside and its just bone. My legs and my feet hurt in the evenings especially if ive been on them more than normal every single day in ways they have never.
Avatar n tn I can tell you from experience the sooner you get out the better. The Meth literally stores in your bones and tissue. You should take a calcium/magnesium supplement along with a multi vitamin. Try to get started on a good high protein diet to help your body adjust and cut back on sugar!! Drink lots of water and hang in there. It's still early enough for you to get out. As I said the sooner you get off the better. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I have been in the clinic on methadone for a little over 90 days now and i am on 110mg a day . Since starting i have noticed that i wake up with dry mouth and when i eat everything has no taste and i have the same taste or feeling in my mouth no matter what i eat. I asked the nurses and they tell me they have never heard of that and its not the methadone. Am i imagining this or has anyone else had this issue?
865676 tn?1239712169 i recently went to jail & had been on either opiates, bupe, or recently methadone....for 15 years. I got on methadone about 4 months prior to jail. I am not sure if its because i never detoxed from the heroin & opiates when i got on methadone or when but the detox from methadone was THE WORST. My legs felt like they were gonna jump through my skin, i was fine for days 1, 2 & 3, then day 4 - day 12 no sleep.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I’ve been on Methadone for about 4 years I take 40mg a day and sometimes 60 or 70 but I have had so many adverse reactions and it really isn’t helping with my pain. I have had problems with getting erect, sweating, hot and cold flashes, forgetfulness, being ill as hell, and now I’m starting to not care about anything!! What should I do?
454371 tn?1221297385 So some of you may know I am trying to get off the methadone. Not have alot of luck.LOL.. Can not handle the pain in my legs and knees. Not RLS... Pain in the bones.. Afer reading many post. Yesterday I contacted a rehap place. take to a guy who had a 25 year herion addiction. He like alot of us is not a fan of methadone..He thinks I just made my problem worse by taking it. I was told that if I get the suboxone. I can do this pretty pain free. As long as I do not stay on it very long.
Avatar f tn t as strong as methadone she had to take the max dose of sub to counteract the methadone which i believe is somewhere around 32mg..(not positive) so ,you are taking a really small amount of sub compared to the methadone. I am sure that the sub you are taking though is preventing full w/d..as for prolonging it?? In my opinion i believe that it is prolonging it. But hopefully the methadone is completely out of your system by now and the w/ds won't be super bad..
707491 tn?1234709038 Methadone attacks bone marrow and bones so one usually encounters a severe depletion of calcium in methadone users, characterized by severe pain in joints and bones, teeth problems, hair problems. Getting calcium into the system (in the acidic solution in which it can operate), along with magnesium for its effect on the nerves, helps to relieve these conditions.
Avatar m tn Many people have come off methadone and they will answer this better than i can.....Do you have a quit plan in mind?? We are always here for support........
Avatar f tn ve even been told that Methadone destroys bone??? Two months ago, all I did was trip and my left foot broke in 3 places. It was a very bad break in a bad place in my foot and 2 doc visits ago, my foot broke again all on it's own. And, I guess my question is this: Should I attempt to get off of Methadone? Does anyone know if it truly makes weak bones, weaker? I've actually had people say to me, "Why would you let anyone put you on Methadone? That's an awful drug!
598922 tn?1219867388 I have an article written by a dr. in my journal about methadone..this dr. was also an addicit for 18 yrs..maybe it will give your husband some things he can do to help alleviate some of the symptoms a tiny bit..this dr. reccomends plenty of vitamins and amino acids etc..similar to the thomas recipe..His pain is going to seem worse at first but then should subside a bit..This is difficult but it can be done. I quit cold turkey off 65mg..
374225 tn?1269899262 I truly wish there were an alternative-for both of us! The great thing about methadone is: It works for pain management. The bad thing is: it can destroy your body with its evil twin sister 'calcium leach'. I've been researching methadone for the past 2 weeks as a result of some head banging information re: side effects and have come to the conclusion that we are helping and harming our bodies at the same time with methadone. It helps-you gotta work right?
Avatar n tn t stand to hear is Methadone gets in your bones which is why Methadone withdrawal is the worst of all opiate withdrawal, both of these are false. There is not evidence based studies to support that it gets in your bones, Methadone is actually stored in fat cells. As for the horror stories of how terrible Methadone withdrawal is, please know that methadone withdrawal is the same as other opioid withdrawal.
Avatar m tn Also, about your other question, I think it's because methadone has such a long half-life and it's the only drug that stays in your fat cells, muscle tissue, things like that. Most drugs are processed through the liver and then taken out of the body the natural way. Any addictive medication is going to stick around somewhere but for some reason methadone binds to anything and builds up and builds up. That's the best way I could interpret what my psychiatrist told me.
Avatar f tn along with flexeril and anti depressants and stuff .she was in a horrible CSR accident in 2001 with barely functioning kegs Cuz they both exoded and she had all the bones rebuilt from her knee down ....so anyway ..the new pills prescribed to her today was clonodine and something else that starts with a b for abdomen pain .... Is that a lethal mix with the clonidine ? ( 1mg 3x a day) ..
Avatar f tn Methadone is a BEAR to get off of as it seeps into the bones and tissues. 10 mg of methadone is approximately equivalent to 30-35 mg of hydrocodone. So one dose of methadone at 10 mg would be like taking ALL 3 of your hydro 10's at once....with the benefit of the long half life (how long it stays in your system). We have a Pain Management Forum, too, if you are interested in that. Let us know how we can help, ok?
Avatar f tn t do the tapers, as they are more interested in keeping people on methadone.
737319 tn?1232048945 Do I not have a choice in my management? I have heard horrible things on Methadone, that is why I chose against it. The only meds that I haven't had an allergy to has been oxycodone and oxycontin. Everything else effects my cardio/resp/neuro/plasma systems. Anything would help here. I am scared to death that I am going to be left untreated and I can't keep on this way.
1127040 tn?1289718662 However, when the heart is in distress it can make it seem like pains are eminating from anywhere in the chest, back, shoulders, arms, neck, jaw. All the local areas to the heart. A friend of mine had chest pains for several months and he swore blind it was a pulled chest muscle in the ribs. It wasn't until he had a heart attack/stenting that the pains finally went. His pains only occured during exertion, NEVER at rest.
Avatar f tn And 40mg to 140mg is a huge jump,is a doctor prescribing you these meds? Also yes, methadone has a very very long half life,so it stays in your system a long time. In your fat cells, blood and bones. Not a good drug at all.
Avatar f tn I just started a Methadone program about 5 days ago and I am on a very low dose, but I have already gained like 5 pounds, but the kicker is, is that I have also been on Lithium for mood disorders, and I hear that's a drug that will make you gain the mist weight out of the two...So I am going to drop the Lithium obviously because of the two Methadone is the one I need the most, because I don't feel like being deathly ill at the moment..Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Hi I was originally given methadone for pain also but I was taking aim point shots in my spine when I told the doctor I was not willing to take the shots he cut me off and I wound up at a methadone clinic my dose skyrocketed to 150mg in no time and I stayed on it for almost 7 years the best way to get your life back is to slowly taper off there is life without methadone but you have to work for it just know it is so so worth it to get your life back we will support you as you slowly detox this
Avatar m tn Hi, I am not a methadone patient but I am a very concerned girlfriend of a 30 year old male who has been on the methadone program for the last few years.
