Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and have been researching that pregnant women with PCOS have a higher rate of miscarrage. Does this rate of risk decrease if you are taking clomid or have ovarian drilling?

Avatar f tn this is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome right? I had that and my son is now five years old. My doctor gave me metformin.. I know weird.. but I think it contributed to me getting pregnant aside from all the tests I did. also took three rounds of clomid. HOpe that helps.
Avatar f tn Metformin is a drug to treat insulin resistance which can lead to diabetes. That, along with the "enlarged ovary" makes it sound like you have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome." A strand of pearls pattern of cysts on the ovaries is one of the classic symptoms of this metabolic disorder. If you are overweight, I've read that losing some weight can normalize the menstrual cycle as well as restore insulin resistance.

Avatar f tn I am 32 and was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. I'm terrified I will never have children. Unfortunately I am allergic to Medformin, which could help. Just hoping to hear some PCOS success stories!
1360237 tn?1351816181 This treatment results in a dramatic lowering of male hormones within days and is often performed in women who have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Studies have shown that up to 80 percent of patients will benefit from such treatment. Many women who fail to ovulate with clomiphene or Metformin therapy will respond when these medications are reintroduced to the system after ovarian drilling.
Avatar f tn The medical literature suggests that the endocrinopathy in most patients with polycystic ovary syndrome can be resolved with insulin lowering therapy. This is clinically very important because the therapy reduces hirsutism, obesity, blood pressure, triglyceride levels, elevated blood clotting factors and facilitates reestablishment of the normal pituitary ovarian cycle, thus often allowing resumption of normal ovulatory cycles and pregnancy.

Avatar n tn I do have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome so I do have cysts and metformin actually helps quite a lot in keeping them well, well, well, under control. But cystic teratoma I don't know about. If it's similar then maybe something like Metformin (i.e. Fortamet, Glucophage) would help. All in all I would ask my OB/GYN to refer me to a fertility specialist and I would have him/her address these concerns about a possible infertility situation.
Avatar n tn I Just found out today i have polycystic ovary but not the syndrome umm what is the difference?

Avatar n tn This can be perfectly normal - I know lots of people with it. I know one who has this and have been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and is being treated with Metformin - same as used for Type 2 diabetes. She has lost weight and the darkness around her neck and underarms has faded. Have you seen anyone about it? If not, make an appointment with your Health Care Provider and have this checked.
Avatar m tn she said i might have polysistic ovary syndrome but she just said to loose weight then come back and talk to her but im really worried that if i have it then i will get disqualified from joining the military.
7212629 tn?1389234563 i was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome on 2008 when i was 20 years old. with weight of 75kg back then and height of 1.56m. i have coarse hair under my chin, leg, on the upper lip, legs, thighs, and stomach. the doctor gave me Diane 35 pill for 3 cycle. when i'm on that pill, my menses came accordingly, but when i stop taking that pill, the menses stops as well. then the doctor gave me Metformin together with Diane 35 for 3 cycle as well.
Avatar n tn Ovaries are not painful with polycystic ovary syndrome, and so one cannot attibute your discomfort to polycystic ovary syndrome.
Avatar f tn Many many women have polycystic ovary syndrome. It does not necessarily mean that you will end up having to have them removed, there are many good medications to treat PCOS now. Part of the syndrome includes irregular periods. This is caused by a failure to ovulate regularly. If you don't ovulate regularly, your fertility is decreased compared with women who do ovulate monthly. Recently, we have been having good success treating PCOS with Metformin.

Avatar f tn It is possible that you have polycystic ovary syndrome. PCOS is often detected by an ultrasound which shows many small follicles in the ovaries. Typically women with PCOS have irregular menstrual periods and are often infertile. Women with PCOS DO get pregnant naturally, but it can take a long time. There are some excellent medications that are fairly simple to take and can speed up the process.
