Avatar f tn d call your doc that is prescribing your medications. Are you on metformin for polycystic ovarian disease? Long cycles and abnormal bleeding is common for this disorder. Not sure how metformin would impact that. But do check in with your doctor. If the bleeding goes on past 7 days, I would also call your doc or if the clots are bigger than a quarter. good luck and let us know how it goes. I'll be interested to hear back from you as to how this resolves!

394610 tn?1326725395 ALSO, I do am Insulin resistant and I do have diabetes.. but I do take METFORMIN (Diabetic Meds) for POLYCYSTIC ovarian disease it also helps and it has made me lose 50 pounds in the last 7 months. I was told the only way to really diagnose POCS was to have a internal sonogram or surgery ..i've had both . But if hse is having painful periods, or insulin resitant you may want to look into this further . I know in my case my excess hair gets worse with age.

1358263 tn?1277379213 Birth control is not an option for me since I am TTC. I am not back on Metformin 500mg TID (three times a day), I have also taken Clomid. I got prego last year, had a M/C at 6.5 months, and then again this year but MC at 5 wks. There is hope, and there are many women on this website who have PCOS and are or have had healthy pregnancies. See your doctor and get your body back in control. I wish you a lot of luck!
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and have been researching that pregnant women with PCOS have a higher rate of miscarrage. Does this rate of risk decrease if you are taking clomid or have ovarian drilling?
Avatar n tn PCOS is a syndrome There is no obvious causal link between polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and ovarian cancer. Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses.
Avatar n tn Would like to know the Permanent remedy for bilateral polycystic overies, since need to get Pregnant
Avatar f tn Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is related to insulin resistance. It's often treated with metformin, which is often used to treat Type II diabetes. The best "natural" treatment for PCOS is the elimination of processed foods such as breads and bread products and eat lots of veggies, lean meats, healthy fats, nuts, seeds, etc. Avoid fruit, except for one serving/day, or any simple carbs that spike the blood sugar, which, in turn spikes insulin levels.
639213 tn?1223005577 Is it common for a physician to give you several tests and not tell you what the results of said tests were and when the results are negative or unfounded, not to continue with anymore tests? I believe that I have polycystic ovarian sydrome. My OBGYN prescribed clomiphene and birth control. Won't one cancel out the other? I hve facial hair and its spreading. It started on my chin only, now its on my entire face. My OBGYN did not do an ultrasound to look for cysts. What am I to do?
Avatar f tn I had an abortion 11 years ago (when I was 16) and now I am trying to conceive with my husband. I have been diagnosed with POS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which basically means I am not ovulating. I am on metformin and most recently added femara. Is there a link between my abortion and not being able to ovulate now? Clearly I used to ovulate. What happened? thanks!!
Avatar f tn Endogest is used to restore normal menstrual periods which have stopped for several months and it progesterone .Metformin is used in polycystic ovarian disease for managing insulin resistance. Irregular ovulation can affect your periods. It is best to get a pelvic scan done and discuss your concerns with your gynecologist. Do keep me posted. Best luck and take care!
Avatar f tn Metformin may lower the risk of miscarriage or gestational diabetes in women with PCOS, but this has not yet been confirmed by research. Metformin is probably safe to take while you are pregnant. But because metformin is only FDA-approved for the treatment of diabetes, you should talk with your doctor about the use of this medicine for reducing your risk for miscarriage or treating PCOS symptoms. Side Effects The most common side effects of metformin are: Nausea.

Avatar n tn I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and was on depo to help with the pain, but now I would like to have another child I only have one and he is 9.... I'm off depo now, what advice would you give me on trying to conceive?!
Avatar f tn Hello, The cause of irregular periods could be due to hormonal imbalance, stress, chronic illness, polycystic ovarian disease, thyroid gland disorders or diseases, pituitary gland tumors or cyst, galactorrhea, prolactinomas etc. You should consult a gynecologist and get examined and investigated as soon as possible to know the exact cause of all these episodes.
Avatar f tn I have been treating with an endo because I have the symptoms of PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome). I am 28 but at about 18 I started to develop facial hair & it has gotten worse thru the years. I have never experienced any ovarian cysts and was able to conceive without trouble. Also, I have weight gain problems and difficulty losing weight.
Avatar f tn I have been on 2500 mg of Metformin for 13 years now due to being insulin resistant BC of Polycystic ovarian syndrome. Have been on several other medications for insulin resistance that did not work. The Metformin doesn't really work but works better than anything else I've ever been on. My sugar still runs 200 after fasting for 12 hours. Are there any tests that can be done to tell if you really need insulin?
