Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and have been researching that pregnant women with PCOS have a higher rate of miscarrage. Does this rate of risk decrease if you are taking clomid or have ovarian drilling?
639213 tn?1223005577 Is it common for a physician to give you several tests and not tell you what the results of said tests were and when the results are negative or unfounded, not to continue with anymore tests? I believe that I have polycystic ovarian sydrome. My OBGYN prescribed clomiphene and birth control. Won't one cancel out the other? I hve facial hair and its spreading. It started on my chin only, now its on my entire face. My OBGYN did not do an ultrasound to look for cysts. What am I to do?
Avatar f tn I suffed from ovarian cysts since I was 14.. I'm 34 now and have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome.. though I haven't had a cyst that has caused me pain or discomfort in years.. The best thing to help combat and minimize the occurrence and severity of an ovarian cyst I found was exercise!! The release of serotonin somehow helps.. but I've become an avid Zumba goer and not only did it keep the cysts at bay, but it's a lot of fun..
Avatar f tn I had an abortion 11 years ago (when I was 16) and now I am trying to conceive with my husband. I have been diagnosed with POS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which basically means I am not ovulating. I am on metformin and most recently added femara. Is there a link between my abortion and not being able to ovulate now? Clearly I used to ovulate. What happened? thanks!!
Avatar n tn s possible for metformin to cause severe food sensitivities and colitis. I am a 36 year old female with polycystic ovarian syndrome. After initiating metformin, many of the hormonal problems, including weight gain despite daily exercise and healthy eating habits, have greatly improved.

Avatar n tn I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and was on depo to help with the pain, but now I would like to have another child I only have one and he is 9.... I'm off depo now, what advice would you give me on trying to conceive?!
Avatar n tn After the babies were born I went back on the metformin. My children are now 8 and 9. As far as I know, this medication is the best help for PCOS. The fertility doctor wanted me to go on birth control every other month. To me, that is just not a good solution. If you do not currently see an endochrinologist you may want to consult one. Most times PCOS goes hand in hand with insulin resistance.
Avatar n tn Please note, multicystic ovarian syndrome is different than polycystic ovarian syndrome. My doctor has seen fit to start treating me with Yaz, a diffeent type of bith control than I was already on. He said that I should stay on it until I'm ready to get pregnant, then get off it for a few months then try to conceive. Anyway, that's how I'm being treated.
548915 tn?1214881993 i have pcos (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), and i have been pregnant before and didnt know it, i ended up having a miscarraige/ectopic pregnancy, the doctors dont know which one it was b/c i have cysts on my ovary. anyways when i was pregnant my emotions were out of control, i was depressed and crying ALL the time and yelling at my boyfriend and everyone i love. and i just was going crazy!!
1360237 tn?1351816181 This treatment results in a dramatic lowering of male hormones within days and is often performed in women who have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Studies have shown that up to 80 percent of patients will benefit from such treatment. Many women who fail to ovulate with clomiphene or Metformin therapy will respond when these medications are reintroduced to the system after ovarian drilling.
Avatar f tn Metformin (Glucophage) is a pharmaceutical drug often prescribed for women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). It is an insulin-sensitizing biguanide commonly used to treat elevated blood glucose levels in people with Type 2 Diabetes and often employed as an off-label prescription for PCOS. This means that it was originally used only for individuals with Type 2 Diabetes but is now prescribed for PCOS patients because it has similar actions in both groups.
635774 tn?1222751413 Hi My husband and i are currently investigating infertility. I had a transvaginal ultrasound and need some help to understand the doctors report about my results. I am desperate for someone to explain it to me as i dont have an appointment with my gyno for another 4 weeks!! Please someone help me understand?? The report reads as follows: REPORT: The uterus is normal in size and echopattern measuring 74 x 47 x 37mm. The endometrium is 7mm in thickness and exhibits a secretory pattern.
Avatar f tn it means you having polycystic ovarian syndrome thus is diseases of hormonal inbalance meaning more on male hormone lack of ovulation and insulin resistance. lack of ovulation results irregular period.
Avatar m tn re overweight). I would highly recommend asking your doctor more about polycystic ovarian syndrome - or even researching it on the internet.
Avatar n tn Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the prime reasons many women gain weight/can't lose it. Very often, hypothyroidism and insulin resistance accompany PCOS; have you been tested for those? For hypothyroid, you need to be tested for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Monitoring blood sugar levels will help identify insulin resistance. Recommend that you get tested further. Often metformin is prescribed for PCOS; has your doctor mentioned that?
Avatar n tn I do have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome so I do have cysts and metformin actually helps quite a lot in keeping them well, well, well, under control. But cystic teratoma I don't know about. If it's similar then maybe something like Metformin (i.e. Fortamet, Glucophage) would help. All in all I would ask my OB/GYN to refer me to a fertility specialist and I would have him/her address these concerns about a possible infertility situation.
1442873 tn?1284246187 My boyfriend and I have been TTC for over a year and have had no luck. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome back in 2005, I was also diagnosed with insulin resistance. Since then I have been taking the drug Metformin. I am overweight and recently joined a gym hoping that this would help my chances of conceiving. Lately I have been feeling hopeless and depressed. What are the chances of someone with my medical problems having a baby?
Avatar f tn Well I too have pcos and I take metformin 500mg 2x and yasmin bc pills. I've been on the bc pills for close to 2 years and metformin i started in september 2008 (taking them everyday). Metformin is the only known drug that is given out to pcos sufferers.
Avatar f tn I am taking 2000mg of metformin and I have been on it for almost 7 months now and last month my doctor started me on provera to induce a period because I haven't one since September of last year and I finally had one in August and come October my gynecologist is putting me on ovulation medication so that me and my boyfriend can try and have a baby. I'm excited about this because I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and and this isn't curable it's only treatable with medication.
