lyrica

Avatar m tn has anyone ever been perscribed Lyrica for cronic pain. If so how much do you take, and how long did it take to notice any results. I started taking 50MG's 3X's a day. I started last Tuesday, and haven't noticed any difference in my pain. any feedback would be great.
Avatar f tn Physical therapy, water therapy and massage w/tens unit. I was taking up to 5/10mg Oxycodone daily and still in massive pain! When Lyrica was advertised I asked the specialist to try it. They started me with 2 pills a day (don't remember the mgs.) and the drowsiness was really bad so I only took 1 at bedtime!! For 2 weeks then increased it to 2! Slow is better!! I now take 75mg 2/day, am/pm, I also wear a Butrans patch 20mg (chg every 7 days) and take Oxycodone 10mg up to 3x day!
Avatar m tn ve been diagnosed with RSD and have been on Demerol, hydrocodone, oxycodone and Lyrica. After seeing what works and what doesn't, I am currently only taking the oxycodone(2-7.5 every 4-6 hrs) and Lyrica(3-75 mg a day). The side effects I'm experiencing are constipation and my libido is mia. I can deal with the constipation, but at 45 and married, the libido change has GOT to be corrected.
Avatar f tn I went to my PMP the 1st ofJanuary, 2012, to get my MSContin and Oxycodone scripts. He gave me a random UA test for MSContin, Oxycodone (for breakthrough pain), and Lyrica. This is the first drug test from him in 2-3 years. I had been taking less of my MSContin and Lyrica because of being in the"donut-hole" of Med.D script plan and , also trying to resolve co-pay of MSContin-generic back down to tier exception lower cost co-pay.
Avatar f tn I had a Maligram two years ago they hit a nerve, the pain ran down the right hip all the way down the right leg and into my r foot, it thru me over the table, I am on Lyrica, gabapentin and Oxycodone, my back surgeon wants me to take Norco, but the primary has me on Oxy, 5/325 Norco 10/325, I want to wean myself off the oxy, so if I took oxycodone one day and Norco the next, would there be a reaction?
Avatar f tn For neuropathy and other sensations I had relief with both Cymbalta and Lyrica. The only downside to the Lyrica was difficulty with cognition and drowsiness. Savella (milnacipran) is the new medication and it works much the same as Cymbalta...it is an antidepressant. As uk2 mentioned, the patches help with pain as well. My current treatment is with Ultram for both FMS and RSD and Trazadone for sleep. It's much a 'trial and error'...
Avatar m tn Are prescribed lyrica or Neurontin? They seem to keep you calm and really help with the cravings and side effects for some. Your not taking much so u may want to just have someone u trust taper u. I know if your like me, I have no one I can trust. LOL.. found that out the hard way.
Avatar n tn This past September he had spinal fusion surgery and prior to entering the hospital, he was taking perhaps 12 oxycodone per day - prescribed by his doctor. He is also taking pregablin or lyrica for pain. It is now 6 months after the surgery he is still taking between 8.5 and 11 oxycodone perday and 2 pregablin. He is going for physio and the therapist is encouraging him to reduce the meds. I had tried getting him to drop his 4 hour dose by half a pill but that did not work out too well.
1326416 tn?1370927001 ----- My pain doctor has stopped writing any and all prescriptions for oxycontin and oxycodone. She was suspicious why some patients only wanted oxycontin or oxycodone for their pain, as well as patients claiming it's the only drug(s) that helped their pain. I understand the suspicion, and would wonder about the same thing myself, considering all the different pain medications available nowadays.
669241 tn?1236264344 I was taking both Lyrica and Ultram. I found that should I miss a dose of the Lyrica the pain was intensified and I didn't like the cognitive difficulty that it caused. I recently discontinued the Ultram after being on it for 3 yrs. Honestly, I am still achy and in pain, but I now see that the Ultram did little to begin with. I never had the dosage increased during the time I was taking it. Take care.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been prescribed lyrica? I have, and have had great results with it for nerve pain in my right arm and hand. Opinions, please. My two other posts with more description vanished, so I will leave with this lol.
Avatar f tn A lot of people gain weight from Lyrica. Has anyone gained weight and then been able to lose it again? I've gained 15 lbs and I really want to get rid of this extra weight.
1577364 tn?1296689784 I have tried celebrex, Lyrica, Cymbalta and Savella and none of these provide me with any relief. The only thing that helps is Oxycontin, but drs. are relunctant to prescribe on an ongoing basis. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
Avatar n tn what type of meds did your pain doc prescribe you. i have a hx of oxycodone addictions so i am fearful as to what they can do for me as far as pain control. any info would be very helpful. thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn Percocet has oxycodone in it rather than the hydrocodone in Vicodin. Oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone. In my experience, the oxy worked better and I had less side effects (upset stomach and "dumb" feeling).
Avatar f tn Took 250mg of lyrica morning and evening on day one, had WD but the lyrica took about half the edge off. Day two, usually the worst, 300mg morning and night, same deal, had wds but they were manageable. Day three, 300 morning and night. Day four, feeling better, 150 of lyrica morning and night. Day five, still a bit fuzzy, but no lyrica and made it through the day. I tried this as I had to work and take care of kids during wds. I also chugged water and oj like crazy. And exercised at home.
Avatar n tn m also on Lyrica along with methadone and oxycodone for chronic low back/leg pain. The Lyrica is for my leg pain, which is caused by "nerve pain" as my doctor tells me. I think it may also have some antidepressant qualities, or something like that. I should know, since I have been taking it since the drug went on the market! I'm going to do a little research and find out what I can about Lyrica, just "for the fun of it"!.
Avatar f tn Hello all, I haven't posted for a long time. I was wondering the difference (strenghtwise) between oxy & hydromorphcontin ( long acting). I was on hydromorph last year and switched to oxycontin & oxy IR this spring in an attempt to keep overall dosages down. The oxy seemed to escalate quite rapidly vs increases needed when I was on hydromorph products. Which is stronger? Which is slower to build up tolerence to? Is it different for different people?
Avatar n tn To make a long story short my PCP was perscribing Lyrica and Percaset to me. Dont like the Lyrica and the Percaset 5/325 is just not helping like it use to. So I decided to call the Dr. that I trust the most and that is my Oncologist. I told him I dont like the Lyrica and the percocet is just not helping. I also told him I do not want to see my PCP anymore. He then gave me scripts for Cymbalta and 10mg straight oxycodone and told me to back it up with the acetomenaphin I need.
Avatar m tn The only thing I can think of is I took my Lyrica cause it helps me sleep.I took 150mg. I take Lyrica for my foot pain. Anyways, please tell me Im out of the woods an oxy doesnt carry a half life.
Avatar n tn ve tried gabapentin several times in addition to being on oxycontin and oxycodone (and some other meds at the same time.) I did find it helped with the pain but I had a bad side effect in that it made me slur my words (to the point people thought I was drunk and I don't drink.) Also, you cannot stop it cold turkey due to a seizure risk but it's not like you have withdrawals like you do with narcotics. I would also make sure you see how it affects you before driving.
Avatar f tn Hi - and Welcome to our Pain Management Forum. I'm glad you found us and took the time to post - and share your pain issues with us. Please excuse my tardy reply. The Season finds me a bit busy. I tire easy. I have taken OxyContin. Indeed I took it for several years. I didn't feel it was a awesome pain reliever - it was effective but not the end all be all. Initially I was on Hydrocodone for beak-through pain.
9258244 tn?1402972453 I stopped the Oxycodone and Lyrica as well on my own. How can I get off this patch? He told me I would only do it for 2months then I would go to something else to taper down ......but he lied. When I went back 2,months later, he wrote a prescription for the patches and told me to wear them longer till I eventually didn't need them. Yeah.......right! Stupidest thing I ever heard. I am extremely serious about this people.
Avatar f tn I have neuropathic nerve pain from a botched neck spinal fusion 2013. After 2 more spinal fusions to correct the problem it was determined that the problems i am having cannot be corrected. I am left with permanent damage and neupathic nerve pain. To add to it my lower back has disc compression issues. I have been getting injections for this when its unbearable, but im apprehensive about surgical treatment.
Avatar f tn Neurontin, Lyrica for the nerve pain, and Baclophen or Flexeril for the muscle spasms. Hope this helps.
