Lyrica and urinalysis

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and urinalysis

Yesterday was a day which left me in complete and utter shock, to say the least. You see, last month my pain management doctors office performed "urinalysis" testing on ALL patients. I am 100% honest with my doctor and we have always had a good patient/doctor relationship. With how extreme the damage is to my back and the nerves they have said "it is inoperable and all we can do is try to keep you comfortable".
I now have started to have issue with my hands where it will start to hurt in my wrist and radiate into my pinky and next 2 fingers. This has been gradually getting worse over the past 10 years and I have seen a ton of doctors. General doc, neurologist, chiro, podiatrist, homeopathy, acupuncture, pulmutalagist,. I have had MRI leg, ankle, back, X-ray, blood pressure test, nerve conduction test, lots of blood work with nothing has been found.
Was normal both times Cortisol (salivary) tests normal (adrenal) all bloodwork is normal. urinalysis normal, pelvic ultrasound and pap normal Holter monitor and echocardiography is normal My naturopath put me on the following: Magnesium 120mg 4x/day fish oil niacinamide 500mg 3x/day b12 2500mcg once daily b6 complex once daily (all for anxiety that my symptoms were causing) Can anyone give me any ideas about what may be causing this?
Sent me to a urologist who thought maybe Prostate - found nothing upon exam, urinalysis and CT scan of the bladder. Both GP and Urologist couldn't explain so I got the old Dx with Hydrocele and epidydimitis. The symptoms subsided around March 05. I stopped smoking about 2 months ago (after 20 years) and experienced numbness in my tongue and mouth - thought maybe it was normal for stopping smoking. Then the numbness appeared bilaterally in both hands and feet 1 week later.
C) Did they generally (upper extremity) check your orthostatic blood pressures and pulses (lying down, sitting and standing)? If so, was there any evidence of any kind of orthostatic intolerance (problem with standing with the numbers)? D) If your lipid panel, magnesium level, CRP, and peripheral doppler testing were fine and your did any of the doctors suggest trying compression socks/hosiery? E) How long did you try acupuncture for?
I have been cured and off all meds for two years but still suffering and do not know where to turn. I have been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue, Systemic Yeast Infection, crazy weight gain (50 lbs), gurd, muscle weakness and the list goes on and on! At my last liver docs appt they "apologized for destroying my life" and said that maybe I would recover in 6 or 7 years. They gave no suggestions for a speedier recovery saying my system was in chaos.
I suggest that you seek consult with a rehabilitation medicine specialist for further evaluation. Aside from a urinalysis and urine culture as well as a prostatic secretion culture, you may benefit from physical therapy. I do not think there is an association between the dermatitis and the burning pain at this point. Unless the previous rash was a herpes zoster or viral infection , then we may be able to find a connection between the two.
They only last a few seconds. The build and peak like labor pains. Say I'm in the kitchen and I'll feel it coming on so I have time to brace myself. I'll set down whatever it is i'm holding and get ready. I have to cross my legs, bend my knees, hold on to something, clench my body tight, and try to breathe. Thank God it only lasts a few seconds. My 14 yr. old son witnessed it yesterday and tried to call 911. I kept signaling him not to. I knew it wouldn't last long. My gyno.
Hello, I am a 41 year old female and I am looking and searching for answers and came across this forum that I am hoping someone can help or provide advice. I have had several surgeries over the past few years - c-section (1997), gallbladder removal and hysterectomy (2008)and then last year (Dec 2010) a resection rectopexy for rectal prolapse. Over the last few months, I have been developing pain in my right lower abdomen.
Simple question here, has anyone ever had a negative blood test and negative urine test and went on with their daily routine and a month or so later found out you were in fact pregnant while having ultrasound done. If this has happened to anyone or perhaps someone you know, please respond, I'd appreciate the information. Thanks.
I am taking Atenalol, Lyrica, Celebrex, Zocar, Zetia, Niaspam, Synthroid and Ativan. I recently had my regular check up, but saw a different MD due to my MD recovering from surgery. There were a few (lab sheet reported 6 - 10) white blood cells in my urine. This MD said not to worry as I had no fever and no other UTI symptoms. He disregarded the WBC's, but told me if I had exhibited symptoms he would have prescribed an antibiotic. Could the back pain be related to the WBC in urine.
Yes, I agree with horselip. Perhaps the codeine is creating a false positive. Your doctor should come to the same conclusion.
---- I am taking Tramadol, Vicodin, Xanax, Klonipin, Zanaflex, and they just added LYRICA about 3 mos.ago. - It's alot of med's. BUT, they understand it IS NEEDED. for this Condition. Persons with this MPS.... DO NOT become addicted to their Rx's...Because We are 'CLINICAL' CHRONIC PATIENTS. The Chemical reaction IS Different.--- The person who comes in with a broken ankle and takes High Pain Med's.for 3-4 mos. Become Addicted. THEY ARE NOT "CLINICAL' PERSONS.
the last year I have been taking methadone, percocets, lyrica, welbutrin, setraline, omeprazole, loritab, topamax, ultram, chlorzazone 800 ibuprofen and tricor Last year and this year I ordered my own blood test and this was out of range or different 11/06 12/03/07 trigycerides 297 235 HDL 33 36 VLDL 65 47 LDL 43 93 C REACT.
The urine sounds like it may have crystals in it and/or you have a urinary tract infection. You may want to get a urine culture done and urinalysis. Are you taking all your medications as prescribed? Glad your breathing is getting better. What are you worried about with your son? Are you saying his HIV test was undetectable? or was he positive and then it was undectable with medication?
As mentioned above, it might be a new relapse. You should have a CBC and a urinalysis to check for signs of infection - the most common cause of a new relapse. Or you may be getting worse sleep. A sleep study might be beneficial. Also have your thyroid checked.
I was put on Lyrica(75mg x 3) and Hydrocodone (10 mg 2 x's daily). I was kind of just dealing with it until things became unbearable for the past 8 weeks or so. My feet are screaming with pain and burning. I get zingers of pain to my toes. I have stiffness in my ankles and weak feeling in my legs. My arms tremble with fatigue after simple tasks. I have also had two short episodes with inner hip pain so severe that I could not put weight on my leg. I was perscribed Celebrex for this.
I just want to go somewhere and have a good cry... I am unwell with a flu thing and tired and fed up.. I still feel like something else is wrong. Why the leuckocytes, protien, blood etc. I tried to jump up and down on the phone to my GP and he mentioned ringing my neuro and he has ordered some blood tests for tomorrow and I know one of them is diabetes but mmmm I don't think it's that. Cheers, Udkas.
Remember I was worried about my urinalysis? Well guess what... After taking hydrocodone 4Xs a day and soma 3Xs a day and ms contin 3Xs a day, the lab results came back NEGATIVE for ms contin (morphine), and AGAIN TODAY!! I explained to my doc that #1 Whenever I have been in the hospital or in any traumatic incident that required the administration of morphine, the morphine never worked. It really felt like nothing was administered, and I'm talking about multiple injections.
I spent a year going to the Nephrologists who ordered kidney ultrasounds and told me my kidneys didn't look too bad. I was Cindy1972 when I last posted and somehow I couldn't use that name or password any longer even with password reset so here I am again and wanted to tell you all that the nephrologists told me that heavy usage of NSAIDS like Ibuprophen, Celebrex, Daypro, Aleve, etc was probably the cause of my damage.
Hi, I'm a 49 y.o. man with many years of chronic pain that every MD I've been to can't diagnose. In 2000 I had a L5-S1 laminectomy in which I have had pain/burning in my legs every since. It has gotten worse that for the past 3 years I can't work any longer.
Hydorochlorot 50 mg/1xday;Lyrica 100 mg/1 tab 2x day; Zetia 10mg/ 1x day; and Ultram WR 100mg/1 tab a day as needed for pain. I have been having blood in my urine on occasion since Dec. of 2007, which does not show any indication of infection. I had a bladder and kidney ultra sund with the results coming back normal. I only have this blood when I do more than I normally do or when I have high level of stress.
Please make yourself at home and snuggle down. It will be a bit bumpy, but worth it!
Then my feet swelled up to twice their size, and they haven't gone down since. The tops of my feet are raised up swollen and my ankles and calves are swollen severely. Needless to say they hurt like crazy. I became very worried about the swelling as everyone was telling me there were serious reasons feet and legs can swell, so I finally decided to go to the ER and find out what was going on.
I don't know the specifics, it's just that one month everything appeared to be fine, the next month various aspects of it were elevated, and the next month it was back to normal.
Blood tests are also common in order for doctors to measure levels of vitamin B-12. Other common tests include urinalysis, thyroid function tests, and a nerve conduction study that includes electromyography (to measure electrical discharges produced in muscles). Physicians may also recommend a nerve biopsy, where a small portion of nerve is removed and examined under a microscope. Here is a link to the full article:
i sometimes faint for no reason at all. i do get tingling in my legs, feet and hands alot. i'm on lyrica for this. the docs think it may be my back causing this. i also have heart palpatations, went to a heart doc but they found nothing. i get fevers for no reason. and the newest symptom is my breathing. it started around easter. i went to the hospital and they treated me for asthma. i went to the doc, and guess what, i dont have asthma!! i feel like i forget to breath or something sometimes.
I am really glad that I found this forum...I am currently in as state of shock over what just took place at my own pain management doctors office. I have herniated lumbar discs which have also caused nerve damage, degenerative disc disease and buldging cervical discs. I have been on morphine for about 4 years, extended release and instant release. Last month the doctor gave ALL patients a urine test and when I got there today he said "we have a problem"...
my soles are always red and esr and crp values were elevated. My esr was 36 and crp was 48....
And just want to add - I have never been prescribed anything other than Hydrocodone, neurontin, and a week of Lyrica for my pain - except for a few weeks after my surgeries. But then again I never ask for anything else. maybe I am the clown (the one jumping through hoops, balancing balls on her nose... wearing big RED shoes..LOL).
