Exercise plays an important role in maintaining a healthy body, and it makes it possible to create a calorie deficit and lose weight without starving your body.

Avatar n tn A bad or loose tooth can make it very difficult for them to eat, and they will try to eat, which gives it the APPEARANCE that they are eating and all is well, but in reality they are just pushing the food around their bowl. The fact that your other cat has gained so much weight during this same time says that he's not eating the food and she is.

It doesn't seem possible to gain weight with what you're eating, unless you have a thyroid condition or some other disorder such as Type II diabetes, which can complicate matters. As for exercise, get in what you can. Take the stairs, park far away and walk to the store, school, etc. Or call up a friend and take a stroll around the neighborhood. You don't have to kill yourself to get a decent amount of exercise. If you can exercise, by all means, do.
Avatar m tn (I haven't touched him like I could before this.) I don't want to hurt him, don't want to give him any reason to think he's the problem (he's really not). It's been just over three weeks since possible exposure and, nurses and drs I've spoken to tell me it's low risk but since that night (the next day) I've been really sick and now that the flu has gone, I still am experiencing sore throat, achy muscles on one side of my neck.

Avatar f tn No it's normal at during your 1st trimester for your weight to be down and up.. Keep taking your prenatals and whatever you could keep down make it healthy.. I lost 13 lbs from my 1st and 2nd trimester.. If it gets worse your doctor will help you don't worry.
Avatar f tn Hello there, It would be really dangerous to you to lose that much weight, ie 15 lbs in 2 weeks. A good amount of weight is about 2 lbs per week. The middle of August is about 4 weeks away. Even in 4 weeks, unless you go on what I would call a drastic diet or a starvation diet which would probably put your body in shock, you can't lose 15 lbs in a healthy way. Some people might think that if you drastically reduce your calorie intake, the weight will just fall off you. This is not true.

Did you know it takes about a year for your body to adjust to losing 10 pounds? It's important to remember weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. In order to lose weight and keep it off, you shouldn't look at it as weight loss but a way to become healthier!
Avatar f tn One lb of weight is equivalent to about 3500 calories. So if you want to lose a pound of weight your going to need to cut back a total of 3500 calories in three or four days and you will likely lose about 1 lb. I hope this makes sense to you. If your body is burning 2000 calories daily and you are eating 1300 calories daily that is a 700 calorie deficiency per day. So... in about 5 days you would loose 1 lb. (700 calorie per day X 5 days= 3500 calories. Now...

Also there isn't a lot of traffic here in general, so I suggest you go on to a board with a lot of people who are considering these issues and you will get a lot more info. Two good ones are: TuDiabetes.com and Diabetesforums.com Just to give you some general feedback, you don't mention what your medication regimen is or if you take insulin.
