I have been taking Lexapro for a month and I had dizzy speels for a couple of days, I take 10mg , I started with 5mg because I don't want to get started on head pills , but as I look at my self and the jobs I have lost maybe this is the answer.
I have sleep apnea and depression and anxiety. I was put on Seroquel and Lexapro. These last two helped lessen the depression and anxiety but made my sleepiness and fatigue much worse. Also, I was putting on a lot of weight due to a strong craving for sweets every afternoon.
My psychiatrist had told me if the fatigue got really bad I could cut the Lexapro in half, from 10mg to 5. I just started doing this 2 days ago.
Has anyone ever tried this combo? Did it work for you? My doc wants me to take Lexapro 10 mg for panic disorder and depression but I get sooo tired and told him that I'd need something more energizing to keep me going and get me off the couch, Wellbutrin XL works wonders in that regard. I haven't heard from the doc yet...maybe he thinks I'm crazy lol.

A lot of times, the endo's do not know (or have not researched into) that Lexapro in fact has some serious nasty side effects - although the maker (Forest Pharmaceutical) says there is no risk of addition or side effects.
If you can avoid it - do so. Even in the 10mg form it can cause you more grief and depression if used over a period of time.
I was on Lexapro then to citalopram because of costs, added effexor and still had such horrific depression I wouldn't get out of bed for days. Then I started on 5mg saphris twice a day. At first I felt great but a little too high, so went from 80 mg citalopram to 40 mg a day.
I have a borderline personality disorder, but I'm not bipolar (as far as I know) and I'm taking Seroquel (don't know why) and Lexapro (for anxiaty & depression). I've read Seroquel is for bipolar, maniac depression and schizofrenia but I'm not sure which of this three aplies in my case. so my doctor gave me a 30 day perscription of both lexapro 10 MG and xanax .5 MG the other day because i have Panic attacks and hyperventilation syndrome, he told me for the first week to take half of a lexapro pill once a day for 7 days just to get my body adjusted to the medicine and then take 1 full pill a day after that, he also said it would take a while for the lexapro to kick in so he told me to take the xanax incase i have any anxiety problems within the first week...
Why are the side affects of antidepressants sleepiness drowsiness and weight gain? So, I’m supposed to get better from sleeping all day and having no motivation with medication that has these side effects? It makes no sense! They should prescribe Adderall for people who are depressed...
Same thing happened to me when i took lexapro and I also took half a dose. The nausea and dizziness were unreal. The weird anxiety/ sleepiness combination, too. Sometimes SSRI ( like Paxil) cause these precise side effects at the beginning of treatment. When will you feel better? Check the half life of Paxil. Just for example, the half life of lexapro is 32 hours and it took me 3 days to go back to normal after a single dose.
My doc has me started out on 2.5 mg of Lexapro, roughly that is, I'm breaking 10 mg's into 4th's, so basically it is not exact so someday's I might be getting 3-3.5 while other days I might be getting 1.5-2.0. She says to just stick with this until I feel comfortable bumping up to 5 mg, and then doing the same going to 10mg. She is not very specific about anything. I've just started going to a doctor mainly to help with excessive daytime sleepiness that sometimes comes on very strong, as I'm a teacher and can't perform feeling like this. No amount of sleep or napping will remove the sleepiness. We have done bloodwork and everything has come back normal (we did not check t3 though), pulse ox was fine according to them, but here is my question- My O2 levels are always around 92, my pulse averages 35-40, and blood pressure generally ~105/70.
For the past three months, I have been falling asleep in the car (as a passenger) or while reading the morning paper(basically any time I sit down). If I drive, I have to stop after 20 minutes and take a nap. I'm wondering if it is connected with any medication I am taking. The medication has been decreased after my last blood test.

Part of the process in making that determination is assessing for any other sleep disorders that could be causing the excessive sleepiness. Anything that interferes with the proper proportion and cycles of sleep stages can result in sleep that is not restful or restorative. Some medicines can be the culprit.
