However, a side effect of some of the SSRI's is actaully increase anxiety (I know go figure) but that is why a lot of doctors often pair it with something else in the beginning like Klonopin just until you get use to the SSRI.

Can you take lexapro with birth control? I've heard so many wonderful things about lexapro in that it just takes the edge off. I plan on asking family doc. about it, but just wondered if anyone new about taking it with birth control. Thanks!

You need to start somewhere to get some relief, Lexapro may just be the right medication for you. If not, there are many others you can try.

I was on Prozac for several years with excellent results. I had to eventually switch to Lexapro because I had built up a tolerance to it, which tends to happen with these types of meds. I was prescribed Lexapro (daily basis) and Alprozolam (Xanax) on an "as needed" basis. So the way I see it, you dont need to take the benzo unless the anxiety gets overwhelming, just hold on and wait for the Lexapro to take effect. Personally neither medicine did absolutely nothing for me, even after a month. So, I am not a big advocate for the effects of Lexapro, to me it's like sugar pills. I have currently started Prozac....still waiting on results.

Though different receptors are targeted, many people get good results from Celexa for anxiety, many get good results from Paxil, many get bad results from both. As for snris, they can be very stimulating because they also target norepinephrine, so be careful there. ssris can also be stimulating, however; we all react differently.

still have some fatigue and some anxiety on lexapro now seeing a therapist for it . other than that symtoms are gon just anxiety and fatigue not as bad but still there. my back is much better did physical therapy and chiro. plus 3 coritzone shots.

7 weeks on lexapro. keep improving . anxiety is real low now. still tired not 100 percent on energy. sleeping well. started talk therapy. doing relaxation exercising. and stress anxiety self hypnosis, overall. much better.

I've been on and off Lexapro since 2004 with excellent results but I relapse only when dealing with relationships issues. I could lose my job, my house and not get anxious. When negative stuff appears in the relationship, I get bad anxiety. Part of it is that I've had bad luck with long term relationships. How can I control obsessive negative thoughts,? Only Lexapro seems to calm me down.

Hi. I was put on Lexapro 10mg for anxiety. Well, my doctor started me with the trial packs. Me being scared of going on the medication split the pills in half and only took 5mg a night. When I went back for my follow up to see how it works, I told my doc what I had done. She said she wanted me to go ahead and move up to the 10mg of Lexapro and wrote me a script.

Since then I have been on about 7 different AD’s (lexapro, Zoloft, Effexor, Cymbalta. Currently Wellbutrin, Etc.). They’ve tried mood stabilizers. Nothing has helped. I’m getting worse instead of better. Around Christmas 06 I fell apart and missed 4 weeks of work going to group sessions……They said it was the depression.

You never hear or see the posts from people that had great results from Lexapro. You know why you never see the good posts about them? Because people tend to only write in experiences about the negitives they had with any particular drug. The people that had a good experience never write, why should they? The drug worked for them and they feel much better. Better enough not to bother posting about it. Leaxapro has been around for several years. It is a time tested and safe SSRI drug.

I took Lexapro for 3 years and LOVED it. It is one of the "cleanest" anti-depressants around, meaning it has fewer side effect and is one of the safest to take. It worked wonders for me but I relapsed into a bad depression in October of 2007 while on them. I needed a back up to Lexapro but most people dont. Don't fret.
