lexapro

Avatar m tn Has anyone tried escitilopram ? How are the side effects?
Avatar n tn Hi Folks, A couple of years ago I visited a Neurologist due to what I finally learned was GAD / with occasional Panic Attacks. He put me on Lexapro—10mg and low dose Xanax—.25mg as needed. Well, the Lexapro worked as advertised and I didn’t even need to take the Xanax. Problem was the all too familiar sexual side effects of Lexapro. So I opted to doctor thyself and cut the Lexapro’s in half making it a daily dose of 5mg. Did this for about three weeks.
Avatar f tn she did not want to leave the house, afraid to go to school, and was becoming recluse, I was not happy to put her on Lexapro, but i knew all to well what panic Attacks can do to a person. I also took her to Therapy so that she could get professional advice, and not just have my experience. As of today she takes the Laxapro cut in half, to 5mg 3 times a week. She has no Panic attacks anymore.. Please understand Therapy is very important to find out why they even came about.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine takes Lexapro and loves it. She does have to use Xanax every now and then with it when anxiety/panic attacks arise more full blown. I have been on Effexor XR for 6 years for panic attacks, and love it. I too...went through a depression period after my first panic attack and the effexor completely brought me back. I recently went through a small depression pd. in April because I tried to wean off my medicine (under Dr. supervision) and I relapsed...
Avatar f tn Still have anxiety and breakthrough panic attacks. He has given me the choice of lexapro or Zoloft. Since Celexa and lexapro are so similar, I'm concerned that the lexapro won't work given that the Celexa stopped working. On the other hand, he has warned me that Zoloft is more activating, which is not good for anxiety and panic. Thoughts? Advice? Similar experiences?
Avatar f tn So, I thought my lexapro was keeping my panic attacks at bay... LAst night I was on an ambulance run and got one bad attack that I could control for awhile then it would come back and go away, this went on for an hour or so... I got home and took 1mg of xanex, which I only take 1/2mg when needed, I woke up about an hour later with my heart racing and finally after 15 min or so got myself calmed down.
Avatar m tn Made My Anxiety Worse,This Time Seems To Cause Tiredness. Do You Have Much Improvement After A Month?
Avatar m tn yes i started lexapro from panic attacks and been on it for years and discover now i have a pituitary tumor..
Avatar n tn I was prescribed the Lexapro for panic attacks I was having after emotional trauma from having a hemiplegic migraine. Had I known what this one pill would have done to me, I would have taken my panic attacks magnified 10x over this feeling. Its been 2 months, and I still feel like my life has been completely ruined by just one small dose of lexapro. I've almost committed myself to a mental hospital 3 times. The first day I took the lexapro I felt "off" for like 2 hours after.
Avatar n tn hello, i am a 25 year old healthy female with moderate-severe anxiety and panic attacks. i just got a prescription for lexapro from my doctor (10 mg a day) and have been on it for 2 days. already, i am experiencing heightened anxiety, severe panic attacks (a rushing feeling in my body and a sense of doom), hot flashes, and a bit of insomnia (been up since 4 AM this morning). do these side effects dissipate? i am so hesitant to be on an anti-anxiety drug that actually increases the anxiety!!!
Avatar f tn I have been taking Lexapro for 2 days now. Do you still have anxiety attacks when you start this meds if so how long does it take for it to start working.
333664 tn?1220800790 Lexepro started panic attacks and still have them one year later. I still have spotty panic attacks and depression with the use of said drugs. Upped the dose of lamictal from 25 to 50 mg. a day and now have insomnia with depression. Klonopin seems to work well for anxiety but not the panic attacks. Still waiting for a depression med that works. By the way .5mg klonopin mornings and evenings. Any thoughts anyone?
Avatar n tn re trying to get you to understand how important it is to get this under control. Lexapro will stop your panic attacks and improve your overall well being. Fortunately you are young enough that you can prevent this by getting your anxiety down by taking the medication and also with therapy. You can't handle this on your own if you are panicking over everything, and that's okay. Many of us have felt we could do this on our own but needed help.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have just (yesterday) started Lexapro. I have been getting panic attacks for a while now coupled with a very strange 'who am I' feeling. I looked at the box for weeks and after a massive panic attack whilst I was running 3 miles form home I decided to start the program. I see that you are also a runner and wondered if these attacks happened whilst you were running. At first my attacks were in supermarkets, freeways etc. and I could always go to the gym, run.
Avatar f tn Dr. Forster - I started on Wellbutrin two days ago for depression and feel great! However, I'm also being treated for panic disorder and had 2 panic attacks today, despite taking my Klonopin 1 mg/day. My doc originally put me on Lexapro but it made me so sleepy, drowsy, and even more depressed so we switched to the more activating Wellbutrin, What would ease the anxiety associated with the Wellbutrin XL 150 MG? Maybe up the Klonopin to 2 gr? or add another SSRI at night? Thank you!!

Avatar m tn Has anybody successfully dealt with major panic attacks due to anxiety? Please tell how.
Avatar f tn This morning I took Xanax and later I had a major panic attack, should I stop taking Lexapro? I have to work and I can't stand it if I have panic attacks while teaching, just seems weird. I read that it's possible to have these within the first few weeks or so but how can I function at work if I'm having major panic attacks?

1979360 tn?1328143865 i've been experiencing panic attacks for the past year or so now. after they happen, i keep telling myself that it was no big deal and that i got through it just fine. but when they're going on, i feel like i am going to or about to die. i hate to say it, but i do not wish these on my worse enemy - if i even have one. are there any techniques that you all use to calm yourself down during one of these?
488191 tn?1210285779 ive just started lexapro and it seems that i a even more anxious, my doc gave it to me for anxiety, i do suffer from some depression but anxiety and panic attacks are my major problem...im already not liking this lexapro and its only ben 4 days.
1390847 tn?1344657468 An intense fear of throwing up, missing school, your grades slipping, panic attacks, anger, stress and depression. The Lexapro will help with some of that, but I believe you have a great deal of emotional baggage that a therapist trained to deal with young people could help you with very successfully. The pills will help you feel better, but they won't fix your problem. And your problem IS fixable. Please discuss therapy with your parents or another trusted adult.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply. She is just a gp with a masters in mental health. I definitely know it's the Paxil that's making me more anxious and having severe panic attacks because I don't feel myself and don't feel anxious about anything in my life right now. It really does get worse few hours after I've taken my dose. And during the day I sort of alternate to feeling uneasy nervous then feeling ok.
