lexapro

443862 tn?1237999439 When I decided to go off lexapro I started having hot flashes. So for me, somehow they are connected. Good luck! You are definitely not alone.
Avatar f tn I have never had hot flashes. If it is a hot flash, I read that anti-depressants can trigger hotflashes on one article but then on others I read they help with hot flashes. Was this a hot flash? I know for sure whatever it is , it came from the Lexapro.
Avatar f tn I took Effexor XR for 2 years along with my Tamoxifen, It really did decrease my hot flashes and also some of my down moments. Effexor XR you have to make sure you do not miss a dose, it is a very strong antidepressant. I would start crying and couldn't stop, could not figure it out until I realized it was the medicine. So I weaned myself off with the help of my doctor.
Avatar f tn There are several antidepressants that can reduce hot flashes. Accupuncture was rated equal to Effexor in one study for reducing hot flahes. Regular exercise had been shown to both increase bone mass and decrease hot flashes. If you are concerned about BC, it makes sense to try some of the (probably) safer alternatives...
378102 tn?1215571666 Finally my hot flashes are almost gone... maybe one a day now down from 1000 a day last September.... Avatar f tn I have been taking Escitalopram 10mg (aka Cipralex / Lexapro) for 31 days today. For this past week Ive been having repeated very bad morning anxiety/ morning terror. I wake up in a state of panic, palpitations, difficulty breathing, hot flashes, feeling of extreme terror, and I'm afraid to start my day. This sometimes continues for 3-4 hours and improves gradually if I take my Seroquel 100mg. But some days it continues until I go to bed.
Avatar m tn The best answer coming from a guy with a biology background is that the medication u r on does simply make you have hot and not so hot flashes, but direct exposure to the sun can cause a higer temp and therefor a hotflash like feeling, stay out of the sun for long periods and once your body excepts the new meds all will come down to a normal avergae daily temp, i know this for sure.
11852 tn?1216841443 Just got from the endo. Good news is all my scans came back clean, so it looks like I'm cancer-free. I would be doing the happy dance, but I'm too dam tired to really care. Sad isn't it! Doc ask me how I was feeling and I told her about the extreme fatigue I've felt for a long time. I asked if there could be other causes besides thyroid history and the menopause. Her theory is I'm depressed and Effexor (taking for hot flashes) isn't working.
Avatar m tn 2 days ago I took 20ml of liquid musinex dm I'm currently taking 20mg of Lexapro I read online that I could cause serotonin syndrome I got really anxious and threw up. I called poison control several times and they said I'd be ok. The next day I was having hot and cold flashes.
Avatar f tn That seems to work great, no more real low moments but the last week I have noticed ( been off hrt now for 16 months ) that I am experiencing alot of vaginal dryness, cotton mouth, breast tenderness and the dreaded hot flashes. I do not know what to do. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am a breast cancer survivor for 8 years now; I have severe hot flashes; every 45 minutes day and night; it has totally affected my quality of life...and ability to sleep; I recently found out I could take this drug. I am on 200 mg nightly; so far I have been waking up and had insomnia; will this get better and go away; I have only taken it for two nights; also how long does it take before one might notice their hot flashes have decrease? My dr. said I might have to go up to 400 mg.
Avatar f tn The sensation like a weird feeling allover my face the was for one day..The hot flashes like a fireball being thrown at my forehead...the nausea was all day food was tasteless..
Avatar f tn Then today all of a sudden it felt like someone was burning the skin on my chest, neck, arms, legs, feet, etc. It was very painful. I see people have hot flashes with Lexapro, but I didn't think a hot flash would be this "severe" or painful. Anyone have a similar experience? I'm trying to decide now whether to run from SSRIs, drop my dose to 2.5mg, or keep fighting the fight.
Avatar n tn About 2 months a go my gyneocologist put me on Effexor and told me to stop prozac for hot flashes. I was on the Effexor for about 5 weeks and had an allergic reation to it.. rash and all the worst side effects you could have. I tapered off that which has been horrible. I am now left with a bad headache and extreme fatique and lack of strength. What can I do to feel better, without having to go back on the meds.
Avatar f tn to be honest my doctor is adamant that i start taking lexapro as for hrt she wont prescribe it for me, i havent had a gyno evaluate me as i dont have a gyno i feel stupid saying that but i will look into making a appointment with a gyno im ashamed to say i didnt know i can get a gyno to evaluate me, when i feel ill i just go to er or my doc and its always the same story theres nothing she can do for me only take the lexapro i have even considered changing my doc thanks for your reply
Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn t, or especially if you find yourself getting new emotional problems you never had before going on the drug in the first place, go back on it and taper off more slowly. As for the sweats, this is actually a common side effect of being on Lexapro, so it would make sense to also be a withdrawal side effect as well. I didn't get it going off the drug, but did while on it.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Lexapro 10 mg back in September for GAD. I took 5 mg till Christmas time. I was off of it for about a month and got back on. I developed a weird rash and decided it wasnt for me. I have been off of it for about a week now and I am feeling horrible. I have nausea, headaches, dizziness, blurry vision, weird hot flashes, skin burning and itching and backache. Has anyone experienced any of these when stopping Lexapro?
Avatar f tn combination of medications for someone who needs to suppress menstrual periods and is also taking Lexapro and Lamictal for Major Depression with Bipolar 2 ? My daughter tried taking Yasmin continually (not taking the "fake" week of pills for 3 months) but experiences almost daily cramping, hot and cold flashes, nausea. The gyne was stumped as to which BC pill would be best, as Yasmin is for the PMDD, but causes the side effects for her.

I am 18 days post surgery and feeling much better but still sore and easily tired.... Idiot Dr. sent me back to work tomorrow.... will see how it goes!!!
Avatar n tn no good for me, i ended up using the patch which has worked for the past 9 months, but now it seems to have stopped working, and i get hot days not flashes they last for days on end. I would try the patch first. good luck......
Avatar f tn My doc mentioned estrogen too, if my hot flashes were too much but I declined. The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods.
Avatar n tn 1. Accupuncture 2. Relaxation therapy 3. Regular exercise 4. Reduction in weight/body mass index (If overweight, try to lose 10% of weight. This may also lower risk for BC recurrence in hormone receptor positive BC.) 5, Clonodine (also used for hypertension) 6. Gabapentin ( also used for seizure disorders) 7.
