lexapro and oxycontin

I broke my neck some years ago so sustained nerve damage although I am still mobile. I have been on Fentenyl, Oxycontin and now Methadone. I am taking myself off Methadone, with my doctor's knowledge and have been told that my lexapro is a dangerous mix with methadone as well. I stopped titrating down off methadone and now am at 30mgs per day but I am now titrating down my lexapro dose. I'm finding that both drugs are hell to detox from! Has anyone come off Lexapro or an SSRI?

t keep avoiding people and staying home and isolated. So what do I do? Try the Lexapro? What if it causes insomnia? Or messes me up. I'm pretty sensitive to medications too so I really hope it doesn't. But I need this terrible anxiety and avoidance to stop. My doc assured me that Lexapro is safe and he said take Melatonin with it if it caused sleep problems. I already take Melatonin. Maybe I could ask for some Remeron/Mirtazipine to take with the Lexapro?

In the past month, I started abusing opiates, mostly Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycontin, and Roxies. I saw myself getting dependent on the drugs, naturally, so about three days ago I stopped cold turkey. I went through all of the typical physical withdrawal symptoms and now I am physically fine, but I have been left with almost unbearable depression and constant suicidal thoughts. I have been battling depression for 8+ years now, but the last year it has been hell.

I was just discharged from my hospital about 2 days ago. I have this crawling in my skin and curling my spine feeling and it hasn't gone away and its getting worse... The hospital I was at did not give me any detox or start me on any methadone. So I have been sober from pain killers for the past 6 days. Until today. I took a 10MG Hydrocodone. (I was use to taking 4 of those daily for the past year or two along with Oxycontin and Roxicodone) It eased the crawling skin for now.

He increased my Lexapro to 20mg per day, and then told me to STAY ON THE CLONIDINE for two weeks (.1mg twice per day), and then to take .25 Lorazepam three times a day for seven days. I had to have the pharmacy cut those things in half...they are TINY. He said the lorazepam (ativan) will work on the anxiety and will help any anxiety caused by increasing the lexapro, too.

In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .

No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.

Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.

Is lexapro and xanax the same? If not, what is the difference and does the lexapro make you feel the same as xanax do??

also remember most docs try to start you out on like high does of anti depressants don't do that try a low dose first. I was on 10mg of lexapro for along time I went down to 5mg and it is the ****!

Hi all As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression. Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me?

I was taking lexapro and felt it was doing fairly well. Recently I had surgery and this doctor changed the lexapro to a paxil and buspar. At first I felt fine but now three weeks of the new meds and I am tired all of the time and very down. I have a medical condition that I have to take several meds for ex: fentora, oxyliquid, fentanel patch. perscribed through a pain management doctor. There is not much follow up with the new medicine and I wonder if all of this is good.

Hello and welcome! Your doctor prescribed you a common regimen. The Lexapro is an SSRI antidepressant that will take some time to become effective (typically 4-6 weeks, sometimes up to 8 weeks, especially when starting on a low dose as you are). The Xanax is a benzodiazepine, anti-anxiety medication that is being Rx'ed to treat the symptoms of anxiety while you're adjusting to the Lexapro, and waiting for it to become effective in reducing your anxiety.

if your main symptom is palpitations, then a beta blocker might be more appropriate than Lexapro. But if you had a lot of problems and most have gone away, then stick with the Lexapro -- drugs don't cure, they just mitigate the symptoms. You'll always have symptoms unless you find a cure through some kind of therapy work.

Started Lexapro today and I am quite "jittery" and shaky. does anyone know if I can take a small benzo to help calm me down until the Lexapro takes effect?

I am now on Bupropreon (sorry for the spelling) which is the opposite of Lexapro and it works better for me as it treats my ADD and my mood swings.

Has anyone ever taken Lexapro and Abilify together? I've been on 10mg Lexapro (for chronic dysthymia) for about 2 years now. I've always had positive reactions to Lexapro: great sex drive, great mood, slept okay (I do take Lunesta for sleep). my sister has been on 20mg per day lexapro and stopped cold turkey. why she has been put on such a huge dose - apparently lower doses didnt work and she has been on 240 mg for five years now. who does one go and see about this sort of thing because i fear psychosis for her. she no longer feels safe in her house and has also developed agrophobia. her GP doesnt seem to do much other than prescribe further drugs. should she see a psychologist ? or psychiatrist? yours in confusion.

Several years ago, I went on Lexapro 10mg and in therapy for about a year. I was on it for 5+ years and was doing great. I went off of Lexapro and did great for over a year. My anxiety started to creep back in periodically, but I worked through it. I was on the bc pill Aleese at the time I went off of Lexapro and still did ok, but I did get more anxiety around my period.
