Just read a bit about it. It seems to be one of a new class of drugs that began in Europe that are basically looking at melatonin rather the usual suspects. But melatonin will only work well if the problem is your Circadian rhythms are off -- if your sleep problem is from another cause, this might not work. One thing about using melatonin is the dose -- most people take too much, thinking more is better.
Over the past 4 months, I have tried zoloft, lexapro, celexa, buspar, and now Zoloft again. I was given the 25mg tabs and told to take half (12.5) due to my body is apparently very sensitive to these type of meds. I was taking it at night, but i could not fall asleep. I would be dog tired, but couldnt flip the switch.

Thank you so much for your input Paxiled. I needed to hear that because deep down I know that I don't need these medications. I don't have a mental problem just went thru a phase of mixed emotions. I fell in love and fell hard for someone. The relationship was a toxic one and we both knew it. Yet, we couldn't end it and just kept dragging it further on. My heart aches still. I just don't know how to snap out of this.
m wondering if there is anyone else out there who is dosing at 2.5 mg of lexapro and is seeing results or if this is just to low of a dose to expect any results?
I am a 180 pound male. When she tried me on zoloft at 50mg by day 3 I couldn't sleep and I felt my skin crawling, I dropped down to 25 mg, but after about 2 weeks I was starting to feel frazzled again, so she took me off. This is why she started me low on the 2.5 mg of lexapro, she felt that maybe I would feel some effects.

Go back to the doctor and have her give you a proper weaning schedule. The Lexapro shouldnt be as bad. It normally takes about 4 weeks to even notice a difference in how you feel after starting it. Ativan will be tougher but with a proper schedule it can be handled. Just dont take it in your own hands.
Lexapro is an anti-depressant, with some positive affects on anxiety, but it also has side effects, so it seems strong and wrong for what you have and it can be hard to quit taking if you're on it a long time -- the body has a hard time readjusting to not having serotonin artificially affected. I wouldn't think that's a good choice for a start here, nor would I Lunesta, in my opinion, since sleeping pills can leave one drowsy and bother REM sleep, as can Lexapro and clonazepam.
No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.
Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.
Hi All, I am a 30 year old male suffering from obssessive thoughts, I had a stomach ulcers 6 years back and i use Rabeprazole 20 mg daily as a maintenance therapy, My GP suggested escitalopram (Lexapro 10mg) daily, after 2 weeks using the medicine i feel much better and my thoughts have come down, however 2 weeks into the medication i started having severe stomach burning sensation especially in the upper stomach behind the breast bone and the center of the rib cage, i recognise its the same fee
