kidney-stones

Avatar f tn I'm 38 and have been diagnosed with oxilate stones/sponge kidney. I was told years ago that some birth control options could actually make it worse. I have managed to adjust my diet but I desperately need to figure out a birth control that will not make it worse. I've been told the same about antibiotics. Can you recommend a birth control and antibiotic that is ok to take? I don't smoke, don't plan on anymore children and have no allergies to medications.
Avatar n tn My husband has a history of kidney stones (like his father who has suffered with them for over 30 years). This time however, he didn't experience the pain in his side, back or abdomen. Instead he has pain in the tip of his penis. He doesn't believe he has passed the stone yet but has not been straining his urine (strainer is lost - been a while since last stone). Is it possible he passed the stone and the pain is the remnants of this? He is not vomiting nor does he have fever.
Avatar f tn I didn't now that frequent kidney-stone formation was a symptom of Sjogren's syndrome. Or are you just mentioning the fact that you have Sjogren's syndrome, and that you make kidney-stones as well as having it? Anyway, besides ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) to break up the stones, they can perform a cystoscopy or a ureteroscopy, and pull the stone out.
Avatar f tn This past friday at 1:20am I was rushed to the ER from sudden back pain that was unbearable I was so scared for my baby.. Came to the conclusion it's kidney stones and I became more terrified because there's not many pain killers they could give me other than tylenol and morphine, so about the last one I asked if it was ok for my baby, first they said not sure!!
5900973 tn?1396064391 I found out monday I have kidney stones for the 2nd time this pregnancy... :( I am going in friday for my csection and just hoping the pain eases up for me or that I just pass the dang stone... I dont want to be dealing with that after the birth. It just seems like bad timing, not that there is a good time for these things... Tmi but my urine looks like cranberry juice, kinda scary but I know its from the stone. I have been drinking tons of water.
Avatar m tn Hello, Method of treatment of kidney stones depends on the size of stone. A 4 mm stone has an 80% chance of passage spontaneously in the urinary tract while a 5 mm stone has a 20% chance. a stone of 7.7 mm needs other methods of kidney stone treatment. I’ll suggest consulting a urologist for the same and seeking treatment depending on the size of the stone.
Avatar f tn My mom swears that grape seed extract breaks the stones down. You could try that I guess. I had 11 stones that had to be recovered from my kidney and my urologist chose to do a ureteroscopy with laser since he was concerned about damaging my ovaries. We were going to undergo ivf again after I had the two kidney surgeries in Feb this yr. I did have ivf done and am 7 weeks along today so he must of chose the right method for me. I hope you get your issue resolved.
503291 tn?1229419521 I'm in a similar stage of things, myself (ultrasound results came back today -- "several" stones, but I've no clue of exact numbers nor size, and the gallbladder itself apparently is a wee bit tattered from the passage of earlier stones, but nothing terribly horrid; my GP is hooking me up with a specialist in the next few days/weeks for the next step) and as far as I can tell, there's four primary methods.
Avatar n tn Also, specifically, lemon juice appears to break down CaOx stones. I pass a kidney stone at least once a month, so I completely understand what you are going through. No doctor would expect a 9mm stone to pass on its own, its just too big. I personalyl wouldn't be that anxious to break it up though, because a 9mm stone can make quite a few smaller ones. Luckily, in some blessed individuals, stones can stay in the kidney painlessly for many years without causing any trouble at all.
Avatar f tn My husband had stones in kidney. Till know it occurred three time.We are removing as it found but there no solution for this. can any one help us .thanks in advance!
Avatar m tn Drink plenty of water! The following is for Kidney stones There are nutrients you need to add—and to limit. Vitamin A (not betacarotene) promotes healthy functioning of the urinary tract, so people who are deficient in it sometimes form kidney stones more easily than others. You’ll find vitamin A in most good general multiple vitamin and mineral supplements (which you and everyone to take even when you supplement with individual nutrients).
18533109 tn?1465640552 Get It but ,Usually, an imaging test and an analysis of urine are done to diagnose stones. Tiny stones may cause no symptoms, but larger stones can cause pain in the area between the ribs and hips in the back. Sometimes stone formation can be prevented by changing the diet or increasing fluid intake.
Avatar f tn I am 43 and want to concieve naturally. I would appreciate your input and stories of success with natural methods. Thank you!
Avatar m tn Recurrent kidney infection can be due to diabetes, some anomaly or defect in the kidney or due to the organisms developing antibiotic resistance. Recurrent kidney stones are found renal tubular acidosis, medullary sponge kidney, Dent's disease (genetic disease of the kidney), hyperparathyroidism, primary hyperoxaluria and Crohn's disease. Since the pain comes before periods too, it can also be due to endometriosis.
Avatar f tn As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Avoid the foods mentioned and browse the web for more information on oxalate rich foods that you should avoid or eat less of. It is also very important to always stay well hydrated. Your urologist may have advised you to drink 2 litres of fluids (4 pints) during the day, more if you are doing exercises that make you sweat or perspiring in hot weather.
Avatar f tn Hi mommies and mommies to be, as of Saturday I was 22weeks and admitted to the hospital for a reoccurring kidney issue. ( about 2.5 years ago I almost died from ecoli in my left kidney and was in the hospital for 12 days with Iv anti biotics and 3 months out of work and on meds by mouth) I came in 3 weeks ago for kidney pain and was found to have a bacterial infection, was given bactrum in a very high dose for 3 days...
394610 tn?1326725395 Try to get stones out is risky. Stones can get stuck in the bile duct and that could be a trip to the emergency room. There are some gallbladder flush methods on the internet, involving epsom salt to sooth the muscle, and pectin from Apple to soften the cholesterol stones. There is no real proof that it works. Cholecystectomy is best if stones are present, since the stones often returns.
Avatar f tn I had some pain in September 2016 and a diagnosed kidney stone at that time. But the pain didn't really start until January this year. I had severe flank pain on both sides and abdominal pain especially after eating. Was admitted and treated for kidney infection. A few weeks later they found out my Gallbladder was overactive and removed it. Now I just have the flank pain on both sides. It is killing me.
Avatar f tn I have a similar problem but have a defect in my kidneys called MSK, that increases my infections and kidney stones. The problem is most of our current culture methods are based on 100 year old techniques that are based on colony count or number of bacteria etc.. Though these methods are great for the standard acute infections, doctors are now realizing that they do not work for those of us with low level chronic or in some cases biofilm infections.
4801019 tn?1359345412 Here recently about is this time last year I had a bout with a bladder infection, I was put on 3 different types of antibiotics, I was checked for kidney stones and bladder stones and those test results came back negative. I recently just had an epydimitis which is an infection in my left testicle & got that cured. now I went today to the doctor and she checks my prostate and said it was fine and not swollen.
Avatar f tn I had x-rays showing I had a small kidney stone proximately 2 mm in my upper left kidney. I had some signs of blood in my urine now are four months down the road and every once in a while, I will still show blood in my urine and I don’t know if I’ve ever passed the stone. My question is if a stone is forming, but not moving can it cause blood in urine?
Avatar m tn First off, many of the herbs and supplements suggested for kidney stones, at best, may aid in urine flow to some degree, but there is no plant or vitamin that can MELT kidney stones, because all stones are made with varying amounts of CALCIUM, which cannot be dissolved without risking losing other things made of calcium such as bones and teeth! Only Uric acid stones have the least amount of calcium content and therefore CAN be reduced in size through medication.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. My kidney stone problem is a problem with oxalate. I think I will stop the turmeric for now. I am disappointed, as I thought this would help the arthritis. I certainly don't want kidney stone problems again. The calcium supplement I take is calcium citrate (not carbonate). Since I already take a prescription potassium citrate (Urocit-K), I guess the turmeric would be keeping that from doing its job of breaking down the oxalate.
