540521 tn?1221699706 s a urinary tract infection, or it could be kidney stones as well. The kidney stones could be hiding, i have heard of that. Has your doctor given you anything for the pain? I hope everything goes well on Wednesday and hopefully they will have more answers for you. I know it's frustrating, and i am frustrated as well but i just take it one day at a time and i would tell your doctor just how much pain you are in, maybe he can help or give you a stronger medication.
Avatar n tn kidney stones develop by dehydration, weight loss, exercise and diet, if they are not treated they can grow and just cause more and more pain if you dont get them treated the pain may go away but it will come back believe me i have had them myself and the treatment is absolutly nothing well worth having it doent hurt its just lazer treatment which sounds scary but isnt its just like someone is tapping in the same spot repeadedly for about an hour and thats it.
Avatar n tn Hi, Kidney stones form when the components of urine are out of balance. When this happens, the urine contains more crystal-forming substances, such as calcium and uric acid. Kidney stones are also prone to develop in highly acidic or highly alkaline urine. Sometimes, the underlying cause is an inherited metabolic disorder or kidney disease. Gout, inflammatory bowel disease and some medications promote specific types of kidney stones.
Avatar n tn If your husband has persistent proteinuria additional tests must be done to evaluate his kidney function. In addition to blood glucose and blood pressure control, the National Kidney Foundation recommends restricting dietary salt and protein. The extent of the damage to the kidneys must first be evaluated by his doctors. An oral steroid may be prescribed for his proteinuria proteinuria.
Avatar f tn Hi and WELCOME to our Kidney Stone Community. I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.
Avatar f tn I had kidney stones with my first and never peed blood..got kidney stones again this pregnancy was peeing blood they said bladder infection but I ended up in hospital 3 days later with kidney stone attack so I either had both or was trying to pass stones..I would call my doctor so they can get a urine sample while you are peeing the blood out..
Avatar n tn These agents aren't known to cause kidney stones. Most kidney stones in the US are caused by our diet which is rich in meat protein. Calcium supplementation does increase the risk of kidney stones. As far as the blood pressure goes, he should probably have his dose of the lisinopril reduced. Alternatively, there are other agents such as calcium channel blockers, beta blockers or Angiotensine receptor blockers that can also be tried. I would probably avoid diuretics at this point.
Avatar n tn I may not know much about kidney stones, but I've had multiple bladder infections and risked kidney stones before when I was 18. One thing I can say, I'm not going to be 100% positive on it, but if your son drank cranberry juice (lots of it) check into the effects of the oxalates(in cranberries) and the calcium(in your urine) building up to possibly form kidney stones, the last question on the linked page will be helpful if that's the case. http://www.uti-cleanse.com/faqs.
Avatar n tn E with severe pain in my back right hand side just underneath my ribs. After many scans, tests and ultrasounds I was told I had kidney stones. After months more of scans and wasted time I saw a kidney stone specialist who has said the stones are still in my kidney and that the pain I am still experiencing is not caused by them. I'm now at a loss as to what it can be as I was sure the two were related, especially with so many people confirming kidney stones do cause a lot of pain.
Avatar f tn If the stone is moving and tearing the linings of the urinary tract that causes bleeding then depending on the loss of blood and for how long the blood loss goes on for can cause anemia. As you have had kidney stones and have been feeling unwell, your food intake was probably not the same as when you were well. When I had my stone I was not able to eat and lost a lot of weight. I had no appetite at all.
Avatar f tn i have groin pain, addo pain and pain in my back all on left side i also suffer from severe case of bile acid malabsorption, doctors think kidney stones awaiting ultra sound. im in agony.

Avatar f tn Hi everyone... Okay,so for the 7th time this year I have kidney stones again - I am a 20yr old female (and I live a healthy life) ... Doc put a stent in my right ureter cause my kidney is PACKED with stones! I had a UTI but that was treated in hospital when the stent was inserted... I am battling with my period, its like it just ran away or something... Can it just disappear? Like for 2months or longer?
Avatar n tn I have had kidney stones since 2001. Currently (as of May 1) I have had a 15 mm and a 10 mm (as well as several of their babies) in my kidney. I have been scheduled for a systoscopy but when I went for my pre-op, I had extremely (dangerous) high blood pressure. I have never had this high blood pressure in my life (even when I went to the emergency room for kidney stone attacks).
11610581 tn?1419814808 If they did a urinealysis and found that your urine was clear (your words) then they probably meant that you had no blood in your urine and therefore you did not have a kidney stone. Usually with a kidney stone, although many times you can't see it with your naked eye, there will be blood in your urine. That is probably why they didn't do a Cat Scan, as they felt there wasn't a kidney stone causing your pain and problem.
Avatar f tn In February I underwent two surgeries to get rid of 10 stones. Stones sitting in your kidney can cause kidney infections. Your best bet is to see the urologist and take care of those stones. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn I had kidney stones just a week ago but the blood in your urine means that you might have pregnancy diabetes.
535822 tn?1443976780 First of all I have kidney stones ever present inside my kidney. They don't usually cause problems. About 3-4 weeks ago, I started having symptoms resembling a stomach bug (diarrhea) and fatigue for a couple of days, then started having flank pain. Went to urgen care and they gave me 3 days worth of cipro. She said I had a "few" white blood cells in my urine, but that was all. She also ordered a CT scan.
Avatar m tn Everything was fine until about last week when I began to feel a slight pain in the same kidney as before. My urine (like last time) had some visible blood in it, but would go away once I began drinking a lot of water like in December. I also notice every once in a while when I urinate, I see a very small, red tissue/speck in the toilet. So, since I had many small calculi, I figure I just have another stone coming but the tissue threw me off/is worrying me.
Avatar f tn Since there are several posts on Kidney stones, Id like to share my research results that could possibly afford relief to kidney stone sufferers. I am a recently retired ICU RN and I did not realize until now how important Magnesium is in our lives. Its important to know whats the right kind to take as well. This knowledge could help so many people out there .. if they only knew so I wanted to help spread the word......
Avatar m tn i have been to see my gp a month ago with kidney stones, painfull cramps ,the pain has gone but im passing alot of blood when i urinate and it also stings when i urinate which is about 20 times a day im male and 29 years old any help please
1534233 tn?1523388856 Sine this afternoon my urine had a red/ping tint to it. I and my wife both think its blood. I've had kidney stones before and when I passed then there was a little blood but this could be seen in the urine clearly, today it seems all mixed. Its the bank holiday and no doctors for another 4 days, I'm not going to A&E but wonder if I should visit the local walk in center or not.
