prozac

Avatar m tn I am taking fluoxetine 40 mg and Bupropion 300 extended release. I started a new job about a month ago and have been going full steam ahead. I have had 4 days off and have woke up anxious the last three of them as well as feeling a little depressed. Doc seems to think I was keeping my mind very busy and now I have time to think I am crashing. Anyway it got me thinking about my meds. The Fluoxetine has put about 5 kilos on me.I really don't like this.
Avatar f tn t think about it for a few days and see if it is gone, in which case it was likely just in your imagination.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that in the prescription of the fluoxetine tablets it says that fluoxetine should be spread out and be taken one in the morning and one in the night. But the doctor said that he should take them all together at the same time. So, today we gived him two fluoxetine tablets together. But me and my parents are really getting confused as to whether we should listen the doctor or should we follow the instructions written in the prescription of the medication.
Avatar n tn Scientists in the United States and the Netherlands reached opposite conclusions at the annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Oncology. The antidepressants, known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), are a class of drugs that includes fluoxetine (best known under the brand name Prozac) and paroxetine (Paxil). One particular group of these antidepressants works by inhibiting an enzyme known as CYP2D6, which coincidentally helps the body process tamoxifen.
Avatar m tn i just started on fluoxetine and it depends on when you take it, if your taking it in the morning then switching to the evenings should solve the problem.
Avatar n tn Yes you can just stop if you want to. Just two pills means nothing has happened yet anyway. Do know that Prozac stays in the system about a month, unlike the other ssris which leave the body in hours. But that's actually a good thing as far as quitting usually, as the brain gets more time to adapt to being without the drug, just in case you ever reconsider.
Avatar f tn Hi, everyone. I'm posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?
1817640 tn?1323045243 Of course if your nausea turns into vomiting, then you need to call your doctor ASAP. You should see a bit of relief in the side effects as the days go on...if you don't then again, call your doctor. We have all been in your shoes. We have all wanted to throw in the towel before the benefits are really achieved but when you perservere through it, you will feel so much better. Try an over the counter heartburn med like prilosec for now.

535822 tn?1443976780 The New York Post today has said that there is a push for the 9/11 Trial to go to Govenor's Island , A lower Manhatton Community board called on fed officails yesterday to move the trail of the terrorists to Govenor's Island and passed a resolution demanding the shift, in a hearing with Downtown Residents who loathe the idea of the threats that would ensue and the lockdown it would involve, this makes sense to me , what say you ....
527657 tn?1214051850 Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.
Avatar f tn I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.
Avatar n tn Oh, see in your title you say chlamydia. It wasn't clear from the body of your post. You need to have your doctor decide what you should take to treat. Fuoxetine is an antidepressant as are others. Indicating that you probably should just share this information with your doctor and allow them to select the most appropriate drug.
Avatar f tn Inositol is a vitamin and the way it helps is thought to be by affecting certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Your fluoxetine is an SSRI so it is affecting Serotonin. The last thing I would want to see is you going through serotonin syndrome, i.e., too much serotonin. So before you start this I think you should just check it out with your doctor first. It could be that an increase in your fluoxetine may help with the skin picking.
1063764 tn?1272821064 Hello, I have a question about taking melatonin and fluoxetine in the same day. I've been on fluoxetine for almost a year now. I stopped taking melatonin when I started it because I read a few articles that it might potentially interfere. I was jw if anyone here take the two, and what your doctors have said or side effects you've had. Thanks.
Avatar n tn If you suddenly stop taking fluoxetine, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as mood changes, irritability, agitation, dizziness, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, anxiety, confusion, headache, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.
Avatar f tn Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.
Avatar f tn About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.
Avatar f tn Your doctor is your partner in getting you better, and it would serve you best to let the dr. in on what is going on. Pick up the phone and ask him/her the post question and lean on the expertise and not on the depression. When you are thinking about taking a lot of pills, the depression is driving you, not you. Let the dr. help you or if you are still wanting to take all the pills, go to the ER and bring the fluoxetine with you.
5601775 tn?1370714517 That's great news. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Yes, it can take awhile for the meds to start working. We're all so different it's really hard to say how long. It may be within a week or it could be a few weeks. You do sound much better.
Avatar f tn I take 40mg of fluoxetine a day in the mornings. I didn't start leveling out until after I had been taking it a month. So, just give it some time. Make sure you take it at the same time every day, that is really important. And don't drink alcohol, that is important too. If you think it's not working for you after two months, then I would go back to the doctor and discuss it with them.
543959 tn?1301315419 we just started the lexapro slowly as i slowly decreased the fluoxetine. fluoxetine stays in your body for several weeks, so withdrawal effects are less likely (and/or less severe) than with other SSRIs. i would speak to your dr. about a slow transition from one med to the other... or give the buspirone a try. buspirone is supposed to be similar to valium in terms of it's anti-anxiety properties. so if you are having trouble with anxiety or panic, this might be a good combination for you.
