I was involved in a serious car accident in 2007 resulting in 4 cervical and lumbar disc herniations, in 2009 another serious collision herniated 4 more disc herniations including 2 thoracic discs. 4 of the 8 herniations are compressing my spinal cord....I am being treated at a local pain management clinic with flexeril, cymbalta, an anti-inflamatory, trazadone to help me sleep, and percocet 7.5 for pain. Injections in my back and neck failed.
The only significant finding so far based on your post is the presence of WBC in the urine. At this point, I think the urine culture is negative due to the intake of antibiotics. Interstitial cystitis may be a differential here however, do you experience increased urinary frequency which seems to heighten at night? Any pain with sexual activity? The pain of IC is located in the lower abdomen to the perineal (area between anus and genitals). Is this similar to your case?
It is certainly possible that something may have developed in the interval period. In any case, any possibility of blood in the urine (hematuria) in a 55 yo male needs to be comprehensively evaluated. Causes includes a kidney stone, intrinsic kidney disease, urinary tract disease (i.e. infection), or bladder disease. I would first evaluate for a kidney stone, either with an ultrasound or spiral CT scan. If that was negative, then tests for cancer (i.e.
Hello, I am a male 23 yrs old and have extreme testicular pain and what feels like swelling in both testicles at the top and bottom for 12 weeks now. I have had 3 urologists see me. all 3 did ultrasounds of my testicles. All came back clear. I have had complete blood work urine work, all clear. I was diagnosed by the 1st with epidydimitis and put on 6 weeks of levaquin and an anti inflammatory with no help.
Its considered a muscle relaxant (yea i know valium is too) but then how can you get somas off the net (when you cant get valium or other benzos) and the sites only sell stuff like flexeril, etc...plus in california (at least back in 02 it wasnt even a controlled substance).
After my 2nd visit to the chiro, that night I developed pretty extreme pain in the left lower side of my back. Told my chiro about it the next day and she said it could be just soreness from the chiro treatment or a kidney issue. I went to urgent care that night because I coulnd't sit, lay down, fold clothes, ect. due to this pain. Urgent care doc said I had a UTI - urinary tract infection.
I got home and woke up with a raging UTI and blood in my urine. It was the weekend so I had to go to the emergency room. I tried to talk to the doctor about the possibility of the mattress being the cause, but he was not remotely interested in listening to me. After I see my GP again I will update as to whether I got her to order a urine elimination test for me. If she does, maybe I'll see if I can lie down on a gurney at the test center for the whole day. heh. Good times.
A month ago, I developed urinary frequency and urgency and thought I had another UTI. They did a urinalysis and found I had a bunch of microscopic blood in my urine, but no infection. The urologist had me do a CT of the abdomen that was normal. A few weeks ago, I developed a funny buzzing feeling in my lower pelvis that came every few minutes. It wasn't painful but just very annoying. A week ago, I had a cystoscopy to make sure I didn't have any cysts or cancer in my bladder.
I feel like I have hit the wall. I'm at the complete end of my rope here, holding onto the very last thread. I have been having some new and interesting symptoms over the last couple of weeks that have put me a little on edge. I have had 2 urine tests now come back positive for blood and protien. I understand this can be normal for some people, but I know that this has never been the norm for me.
I will list them all and can you please tell me if they are safe to take with one another? My husband is only 38, he had a stroke last year he had a stent put in, now he is on plavix, atenolol, hydrochlorothiazide 25mg, last week his doc added niacin 500 mg, simvastatin 20, flexeril and tramadol, also his one aspirin each day, these are just so many meds, are they safe?
for the past 6 months I have been experiencing a sore tightness in both of my calf muscles sporadically. It does not seem to be related to exercise since I can go for a run and feel nothing... but then I can be sitting and all of a sudden my calves (always both at the same time) start to ache and feel tight. Sometimes they feel so sore that I can almost not walk. Water seems to help on occasions. I can't understand why all of a sudden I may be becoming dehydrated so that doesn't seem logical...
The meds he has taken in the last 30 days are Flexeril for pulled back muscle, Ibuprophen, Tylenol, Ceftin (Antibiotic) due to a tooth being pulled the absecessed and Lortabs. Can any of these give a false positive for the Darvocet. And how can I prove it to his work place.
I am on Cymbalta, Ultram, and Flexiril- I don't really think it could be medication related
-increase in back (lower and upper) and neck pain -increase in fatigue -much harder to exercise than normal -occasional dizziness -hard to concentrate and focus Other: -I was put on Flexeril during an episode of Costochondritis a few weeks ago. I went off it about 5 days later because it really blurred my vision, so much that I couldn't look at a computer/iPad/phone screen or read. about a 2 foot range was completely blurred. My left eye has always been worse than my right eye.
I take one flexeril and one/two Darvocet daily. I try to use it as little as I can. I am in the process of looking for a new job. I work in the healthcare field and am subject to drug screening. How long does it take to get these meds out of my system? I know this sounds fishy and I assure you it is not. I have only been taking these meds for a short time, and hope not to have to take them much longer. But, I am concerned.
It is a PITA trying to hydrate fast enough to give them urine in time for their pick up. I drank liquids from 9-11 before I could pee. 1- Can I request my tox screen be done by blood work? Is this practical? It would be much easier for me. The nurse stated that Tox screens cannot be done by blood, but my research shows that is false. 2- Can they store the Urine over night and send it the next day for testing without compromising the results? or is this just SOP?
he put me on this pill because he found no trace of vicodine in my urine??????????????? can't believe that,,,,,,I take more than I'm suppose too........4 a day, and was doubling that.....and it didn't show in my urine.........so zap. no more pills for me, just live with it......
I have went to a doctor once but she said I didnt have any bacteria in my urine and that she wouldnt know why my back is hurting. She gave me flexeril for the pain and ran a sediment test to see if i had kidney stones. (She also ran a few blood tests) I never heard anything back from them, even when i tried to call. So i assumed everything came back negative. I have no insurance at all and I live paycheck to paycheck so i havent been able pull out the money again for a second opinion..
I had that same problem starting a few months back but it was a pain under my left rib cage in the back. They tested my urine and then did blood tests. Doc guessed it was GERD and I totally disagreed and didn't take the Nexium he gave me. I asked for an ultrasound to check for gallstones and they came up clear. They said they checked the pancreas and liver and all but I believe it's my liver. I used to take a lot of Acetominophen PMS pills and I believe that did some damage.

SO TO MAKE A LONG DOCTOR VISIT SHORT SHE ENDED PUTTING ME IN AN URGENT STATUS FOR THE NEURO AND GAVE ME TYLENOL 3 FOR THE PAIN AT NIGHT IN ADDITION TO FLEXERIL (MUSCLE RELAXER)!! I TOLD HER I WOULD TRY IT BUT IF IT DIDNT WORK I WOULD BE BACK. SHE LAUGHED WITH HER HUMOR AND AND SAID OK.
I'm clean from Oxy's and Percs for a little over 30 days now, but I have alot of medical issues. My urologist put me on Baclofen to help me get rid of urine retention which will put me in kidney failure if not addressed. Now I'm going to have to have surgery, just not sure what my choice of two surgeries are yet, but in the meantime he wants me to take these. I've read the warnings/precautions and honestly these things sound pretty scary. Does anyone here know anything about them.
Yesterday was the 25th of July 08,....at 8:45am My room mate and myself showed up at my doctor's office for my appointment. I went back rather fast and was put in room 3 along with "Lisa" my room mate (as a witness) and we waited. Prior to this visit I had figured out that the drug test results a few months back was "indeed false" and this visit would actually testify to my calculation of events..............
I really can't answer your question about demanding in-patient treatment. I live in England where we have socialised medicine i.e. we don't pay for any visit to the GP or consultants, just have to pay a nominal fee for prescriptions when under retirement age. I have never had to "demand" in-patient observation, it has always been prescribed, usually because I have had a flare of my Crohn's and need IV medication and occasionally, blood transfusions.
Hello All , Ok where to start well 3 yrs ago i was diagnosed with fibroid tumors ,which lead to a hysterectomy ,but while awaiting for hysterectomy i was having lower back, side and front pains on left side around the base of my ribcage ,in the mean time thinking it was cause of these fibroid tumors pushing on my insides ,and my gyn thought the same so i let it be , well its been almost 2 yrs since my surgery and im still having those pains and in the front of my left ribcage i have a mass of so
i have skipped beats, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, and constantly lightheaded and fatigue and feeling really weird like its weird to walk as in it feels im kind of floating or im off balence? 24/7 .the lighthead just will not go away. ive been to the er 8 times and the doctor once a week in this time. the tests i have had are numerous ecgs, blood tests including full blood count, echo, ct head scan and chest xray and lung function test. all of these tests come back clear and normal.
I am not med seeking and have turned down opiates because they do not help. If my blood or urine were tested it would only show the flexeril and Ambien. My prescription history would show only opiates prescribed for the bariatric surgery which had 1 refill that I did not use, and two prescriptions for Vicoden. Once was for a run-in with a table saw, the other for a misdiagnosis of tendonitis. I am just frustrated with medical professionals in general and I am feeling very hopeless.
Here are my symptoms: flank/side/back pains, elevated liver enzymes, pain in the liver area (right quadrant near ribs), painless spasms near kidneys and liver, headache, chills Here is my history: 28 year old female, non-smoker, hardly ever drink, no children and relatively healthy.
So, in June of this year, I went in for my scheduled appt. Since the beginning of 2012, random urine drug screens along with another urine test to measure if the correct amount of the prescribed narcotic level is within your urine are of routine now, expected, no less. Ok, I get it, I completely understand the DEA is coming down with guidelines being severely strict on physicians. So, this day was no different. He gives me two months supply of prescriptions and on with my day I went.
