Avatar f tn I have been in surgical menopause for six years now. I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind.
Avatar f tn On another note, think blood tests are to be done day 18-21 for best snapshot of estrogen/progesterone balance. FYI - would also follow a whole food type diet (meats, nuts, fruits, veg) to help maximize your improvement. Eliminating grains, dairy, soy, sugars will do wonders to help minimize some of the symptoms while you're working through the right path for you.
Avatar n tn The highest concentrations of Isoflavones are found in soy bean and soy bean products followed by legumes, whereas lignans are the primary source of phytoestrogen found in nuts and oilseeds (e.g. flax) and also found in cereals, legumes, fruits and vegetables. Phytoestrogen content varies in different foods, and may vary significantly within the same group of foods (e.g. soy beverages, tofu) depending on processing mechanisms and type of soy bean used.
Avatar m tn Hi, My friend, who is a woman of 45 years, has been receiving a prescription diet from many years ago that excludes nuts (almonds, tree nuts, etc), peanuts, strawberries, chocolate, coffee, saussages, among other things. This diet is to prevent formation of cysts, which she is prone to produce under the right circumstances. Since I usually do the cooking for both, my question is about what compounds these foods share that could be acting as a cyst trigger.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm 41 and underwent a total hysterectomy 1 month ago. The Dr. started me on the patches right away. I just can't sleep! This is driving me nuts since I'm a teacher and need my rest. I look horrible and feel exhausted. Is that a side effect of the patches? Yesterday I was desperate and removed it to see what happens for a week or so. What can I do? I am desperate and of course do not want to age early nor break a leg if tripping on the street. Help!
Avatar m tn Has she has her thyroid checked? That's a common cause of the weight gain and possibly, hot flushes returning or getting worse after 10 years. Also to mention that a weight gain of so much weight also can be a cause of a heightening of the hot flushes. Fat stores estrogen and it's believed that estrogen is partially to blame for the hot flushes.
Avatar f tn It drives me nuts when doctors give these reports and don't explain it. I'm hoping your doctor has a meeting set with you to go over it all. Disordered proliferative endometrium means you had an anovulatory cycle (no ovulation). High estrogen, low progesterone levels. stromal refers to cells of the organ such as uturus, ovarynot sure what break down means though. Tubal metaplasia I have read is common and not a concern. Now, I'm not a doctor!
Avatar f tn I do remember reading somewhere that eating alot of nuts in your pregnancy can cause nut allergies but i dont know if this is true... it was on the internet.. I was never advised by my doctor to avoid them.. If its true though, my poor baby is screwed becasue I had peanut butter and almonds all through my pregnancy... it was difficult to eat meat at times so having nuts helped me stick to a more holistic diet.
1661682 tn?1313135396 can you eat nuts in pregnancy? My partner bought me a box of chocolates and some of them contain nuts.

759027 tn?1234208801 I know I need to see my doctor and I have been and I will go back after this estrogen regiment does not work but I driving myself nuts and just hope someone can shed a little light on my problem.
Avatar n tn I was low in Estrogen and really low in Progesterone. In a few months it went away. Progesterone converts to Estrogen if your body needs it.
417564 tn?1287982827 Perhaps it is not gender related, I realize that men experience it as well but many women seem to be plaqued with those particular symptoms for a longer period. I assumed it could be due to the presence of estrogen in our system so I wanted to see how other women feel about that.
3046028 tn?1340538562 I believe it took about three months to kick in and all her estrogen deficiency symptoms went away. She took this product for the next three years until she found she didn't need it anymore.
429647 tn?1249753429 only to find out that her cancer is estrogen postive and probably caused or in some part aided in the growth of her masses. This is a very touchy subject on this forum, and as much as I love and adore Mary, she and I are on opposite sides on this one. Flashes are horrid, I will agree that I have had a really tough time with them as well as the other symptoms of menopause....but, you know what....I am alive. Gather all the facts you can....best of luck.
Avatar f tn The estrogen is kicking in with a vengeance and my poor husband has to just grin and bare it all. I think after this pregnancy he will think carefully before attempting to make number 2. Are you experiencing the same?
Avatar f tn Then I went to another gyno who said that recent studies have proved that estrogen only with uterus in tact is safer that in fact it's the progesterone that is toxic. Is anyone receiving the same advice?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your last response. I did see a dermatologist and she said the marks on my legs were sun spots. However now I have many other questions. Mt Melanoma was "in situ", which I hear is great. But now I am trying to do all I can to prevent it from coming back. I have recently read that both estrogen and vitamin C have been linked to increasing Melanoma. Is this true?
Avatar m tn Endometriosis feed off estrogen. The estrogen-dependent endo lesions, if left unchecked, will begin to create their own estrogen. I do want to clarify that the pill or any other form of HRT does not prevent the Endometriosis from growing. The reason it is used is to help stop the pain by stopping the periods. I was on a low dose BCP (Marvelon) for 8 yrs continuously and did help with my pain. However it still continued to grow even after deep excision surgery.
587083 tn?1327120262 With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause. After my diagnosis of breast cancer (estrogen positive) my oncologist recommended I avoid soy products because even the weak phytoestrogens may stimulate cancer cells. Research is not conclusive but better to be safe. As the addage goes, 'all things in moderation.
Avatar f tn My son is 10 and nuts. He keeps asking if he can be in the delivery room. Begs actually. While I think it would be a good learning process and great birth control I don't know.. he's gone mad..lol what would you all do?
Avatar f tn Did you eat a lot of leafy green vegetables before testing? Also found in some seeds and nuts, etc. It can also mask B12 deficiency in testing. I think I would look more into that with further testing of B12 testing. It consists of more than a B12 test...there are others to be run to check enzymes, etc. There are more than 1 type of estrogen to be tested in bloodwork too. If all aren't done you cannot get a complete profile. Also have to be done according to cycle. Are you on any hormones?
919877 tn?1250462550 I'm 19, I've grown up with addicts in my life, I've seen the massive impact that one person's actions have on an entire group of people. I began recreationally taking pills, mainly abusing my sleeping aid (ambien) and the occasional norco/vicodin. Well months after that I ended up getting an ultimatum from my friends mother who I live with that I needed to get my act togther and attend an outpatient program and a meeting a week or get out.
Avatar f tn Breast soreness comes from an increase in the level of estrogen. Causes of estrogen dominance include birth control pills, estrogen replacement therapy, stress, poor diet, obesity, xenoestrogens (excess estrogens found in anything from pesticides to plastics). Estrogen dominance can affect conversion of T4 to T3 as well as increase thyroxine binding globulin (if there is too much thyroid binding globulin, thyroid hormone is bound and unable to get into the cells).
Avatar m tn Elevated levels of estrogen in men cause them to take on more feminine characteristics. In fact, when estrogen levels in men are higher than they should be, it can bring about a whole slew of unwanted and potentially dangerous side effects. Enlarged breasts are one of the first and most noticeable side effects to appear in men when estrogen levels are elevated. This is known as gynecomastia and a few other names in the gym too.
Avatar m tn Interesting the spotting has the odor of human menstrual blood. She is as healthy as can be. Everyone, the breeder, vet, etc., thinks I am nuts, say they never heard of such a thing. I feel like cutting the fresh stains out of my sheets and taking the fabric to the vet;except I don't want to cut up my sheets. Since she has been so healthy for so many years with this ongoing spotting; I can only assume it is benign. What do you think?
Avatar f tn I've suffered with PVC's for a couple of years and have been to the cardiologist once. I'm actually going again in a couple of months because they seem to be quite a bit more frequent and different patterns. Anyhow, I've been trying to pay attention to possible triggers. I've noticed the past two months that around my period is when they are soooo awful. I've see on this forum that other women have experienced this as well.
Avatar n tn Am I allowed to eat like peanuts and walnuts and all nuts basically. My husband says he doesn't think I'm supposed to but I wasn't sure because my Dr.
