Avatar f tn I was dx with this too best to be proactive. I looked up diet samples before I had my appt bc it was 2 weeks out before I met with a specialist. Calories will be different for you I'm sure but carbs should be the same. Make sure you eat 6 times a day each snack no more that 15 carbs. Breakfast 35 lunch dinner 45. 3 meals 3 snacks eat a protein before bed I did yogurt Greek kind but the ones with 15/17 grams carbs.
Avatar n tn last year i was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian disease. i need help in managing my diet plan. i daily do cycling (static) for 10 min. please help me.
Avatar n tn Why are you posting and not your father? Can you explain "precautions"? Do you mean prevent his diabetes from progressing? If yes we need to know what he is doing to control and manage his diabetes - foods he eats, exercise program, blood sugar levels and when he tests? "the good diet plan for them...." Changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes. India leads the world in diabetes. This is mainly due to poor diet/nutrition.
383382 tn?1323487391 Glucose Tolerance Test Around 24-28 weeks of pregnancy your doctor will likely want to screen you for gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a form of diabetes that may develop during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes is distinguished from other types of diabetes because it occurs during pregnancy, it was not diagnosed prior to pregnancy, and it usually, but not always, disappears following delivery.
Avatar f tn t pass your 3hr then the doc will decide the best course of action for you (based on how high your numbers were). Treatment of gestational diabetes can range from just a modified diet to oral medication to insulin; it varies depending upon the severity of the diabetes, access to medication depending upon where you live, the doc's preferences, and what the patient can tolerate. I've had gestational diabetes with all three of my pregnancies.

Avatar n tn Along with avoiding sugary foods a low to no carb diet plan is recommended for t2 diabetics. Carbs to t2 diabetics are the same as sugar - elevates our glucose [blood sugar] above and beyond acceptable levels. A very good place to look for low carb recipes is the Atkins [diet] web site http://tinyurl.com/atkins-recipes . Replace sugar with artificial sweeteners such as Splenda or Stevia.
Avatar f tn Also, if you do the three hour test and its determined you have gestational diabetes, the doc will put you on a diet. You can look up a diet plan on the Internet and save time and money. I don't think there are meds to control this either. I have cut out a lot of sweets from my diet. I actually feel a lot better. I felt weak and tired a lot before. I guess this was partly why.
Avatar m tn When your blood sugar is on border line, then it is always good to control your blood sugar level at that stage itself with proper diet plan and with regular exercise. Have regular checkup to see your sugar level. You can even try for GlycaCare tablets containing herbal extracts and nutrients that would help you keep your sugar level in control.
Avatar f tn m glad you found this helpful! I did lose weight with being on the new meal plan and especially in the beginning of the diet. Now my weight is basically leveled out. I'm 37+2 and have barely gained weight since having GD and being on the new diet. Oh, and I know for me, my water intake has increased a lot! Maybe that has something to do with my weight, but I have noticed I'm more thirsty and mainly for cold water. So, if this should happen to you ladies do not worry and it is normal.

Avatar f tn I was really scared at first, but if you follow the diet plan and you control your sugars you will be fine. My daughter is now 6 yo and was born weighing only 7lbs and didnt have sugar problems. With this pregnancy I have maintained my sugars since January and havent needed any meds just diet control.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed met with a nutritionist so I can control it through diet. If you aren't on meds then you have to watch the carbs you eat per meal. My diet plan consists of 30 g of carbs per meal. Special k exceeds that in 1 serving. You should try to avoid breads, pastas, and watch your carb intake. Veggies and protein is alright and no limit on it. Try googling a diet to follow online and good luck.

Avatar f tn Yes I have it I'm 31 weeks pregnant. It's not bad at all its just they put you on insulin you have to see a nutritionist and they give you a meal plan. It's ok I thought it was the end of the world but it's ok. It made me drop a lot of weight tho and its a good and bad thing because my experience I had to go to the hospital because me and babies heart rate was above 200 and this was after I took my insulin. Not saying it will happen to you just be careful.
