A new book, The Fertility Diet, may offer a low-tech, low-cost solution for some. It's based on research from the well-respected Harvard Nurses' Health Study suggesting that diet may play a role in women's efforts to conceive.
Avatar n tn So your doctor should be right with you in wanting your weight to be normal. I would ask directly for a diet plan and for help in lowering insulin dosage when the carbs are changed (as I assume they will be if you lower your calorie intake). A change in diet should start the weight loss and maybe adding some regular exercise (even walking around the block each morning or evening) should help.
15375805 tn?1441615985 Your doctor may initiate a plan in order to better control your diabetes as treating the underlying condition can sometimes have a positive effect on erections. The ED treatments currently available can be broken down into oral and non-oral treatments. The oral medications are known as PDE-5 inhibitors and include Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Spedra. They work by relaxing the muscles at the entrance of the penis to allow a greater blood flow to the area.

179856 tn?1333550962 Since so many of us who have treated are left with one......this article was awesome, explainned it to me better than my doctor and gives some advice. Inflammation is "hot" topic in medicine. It appears connected to almost every known chronic disease -- from heart disease to cancer, diabetes to obesity, autism to dementia, and even depression. Other inflammatory diseases such as allergies, asthma, arthritis, and autoimmune disease are increasing at dramatic rates.
480448 tn?1426952138 Adopting lifestyle changes make a HUGE difference in the chance of developing pre-diabetes or diabetes. Also, if you have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, NOW is the time to make those changes, to prevent the disease from progressing. Basic Prevention Tips: 1. Weight management. If you are overweight, try to shed some of those pounds. Obviously, the more, the better. If you are at an ideal weight, maintain it and try to avoid weight gain.
Avatar n tn com and they do have several articles from the past few years about rigorous exercise and pumping/ diabetes. Here's an article about an NBA player that will likely have some good parallels for you to consider: http://www.diabeteshealth.com/read,1038,1515.html What I recall from the article I skimmed today, was that this fellow takes great pains to keep careful records of foods that "work" during the days/hours before a practice or a game.
Avatar f tn I know my hubby already thinks I'm a big beeotch much of the time- don't wanna make it any worse ;)! Oh yeah- I saw an article today on Yahoo about diabetes and heart health. It said it is very difficult to get A1C levels below 7, and that most people never accomplish it. It also said that a recent study on the benefits of diabetics lowering blood sugar to non-diabetic levels was halted due to some unexplained deaths.
Avatar n tn Just off the top of my head, I would suggest an avocado ( if, of course, you love avocados. like I do) . It has very healthy fat and many great nutrients. During tx we need to eat healthy whole foods and this fits the bill. Nutritional info below. According to this, we would need to eat almost a whole med size avocado, but one could tweek that. (it also gives us some good calories for those that don't want to lose weight) @somuchmore2....
Avatar f tn I enjoy shopping for my food and finding new ways to make it. It is a great diet for diabetes too. My daughter, who has ADHD (never on meds for it) has calmed down with just changing our food choices...so added bonus!!! Not everyone will agree with me but I know how I feel..I feel like I am in my early 20's ( I will be 40 in Dec)...and my skin looks great, too.
Avatar f tn I used to follow a low carb (atkins) diet for many many years, i maintained that way. My nutritionist changed my plan to the one your doctor put you on.... high carb/moderate protein/lowfat. so fat i've been dropping fat percentages but weight keeps rising (1 pound at a time so to speak) and I was maybe thinking to go back to low carb (not paleo) but certainly lower carb.
Avatar f tn 500 Cal diet with HCG/Simeon Plan. This is my 7th day on the HCG/Simeon diet so I figured it would be a good time to compare them (since I made it 1 week on the non-HCG plan). I have felt very well the entire 7 days, no hunger pangs until the end of the day when I took no shot (yesterday). I am not miserable like I was on the diet w/out HCG. I have lost 5 lbs (net), even with the 2 loading days, and I'm pretty excited about how this is going.
Avatar n tn A question to those of you who took it and it didn't work, did you stick to the diet and exercise program 100%, that is what I plan to do, if so, then I cannot understand why it wouldn't work. I already know that I will have success as I am so comitted to this system 100%, nutritional diet and excersice I know will play a crucial role in my success or others, if you don't do it to the T, then I don't believe the results will show.
12832842 tn?1448732401 She was taking meds but because of the awful side effects, she stopped and is using alternative therapies of a natural course. Reflexology, acupuncture, equine therapy, diet...( article on healthline) This is so awful to me because I think in literal terms. This disease seems to have no exacts. Maybe/ maybe not.. There are more indications of diet related stories on YouTube. Doesn't it make sense if we eat foods that reduce inflamation it can at least slow progression/damage.
146021 tn?1237208487 I have joked about my lousy diet leading to type 2 diabetes but I just got a call from my pcp and my blood sugar for the second time was high. Not skyrocket high but I think the nurse said 147. I don't eat well and drink watered down juice all day. I wonder if all the sugar in the juice is doing this. I would appreciate any suggestions, not asking for medical advice. They did ask me to stop by tomorrow to get a fasting finger stick. Thanks in advance.
1301089 tn?1290670171 Participants were obese but didn't have cholesterol problems or diabetes. Half followed a low-carb diet modeled after the Atkins' plan and half went on a low-calorie, low-fat diet. All attended group sessions to help them change bad eating habits, get more active and stick to their diets. The volunteers had periodic checks of their weight, blood, bone density and body composition. After two years, there was no major differences between diet groups, except in good cholesterol.
Avatar f tn I just found out I have pre diabetes and high cholesterol and am overweight. About 60 pounds overweight. Ugh...so upsetting..I am.determined to get this under control without meds. Please if anyone can suggest apps or anything else it would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I'm going to have to disagree with some of the things mentioned here. First, no one is selling anything in relation to this; the diet plan is available free of charge on the website. Second, I don't believe the idea that it can't be valid because most doctors don't recommend it. Almost all of the doctors that I have come across don't put any emphasis on diet, in relation to most conditions, with the possible exception of diabetes.
15298662 tn?1439720697 And also there has been at least 5 generations in a row of women that we know of on my mom's side who have had type 2 diabetes. We know for sure my mom, my mom's mom, my mom's grandma, my mom's great grandma and my mom's great great grandma all have it or did have it. I would be the first one it has skipped. Also my dad's dad and his grandpa had it as well. So I am worried that I may be pre diabetic but I am not exactly sure. So of course given my family's history it worries me.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I'm allowed to mention the name of the particular eating plan. I don't call it a diet, it's a way of life. But it's healthy carbs (vegs)/healthy protein (chicken)/healthy fats (some types of nuts, not all!) Oh, knowledge is power. It's called the Zone. It was out several years ago and while I should follow it, I admit I'm not a zealot. But the basic idea is to watch those carbs!!!!!! You have to have a protein with every meal, every snack!! The body needs the balance!
Avatar n tn It worked good for me. As far as diet I started with the Swank diet but think the Paleo Diet has shown more success in threating neurological diseases. As far as the dental thing I had 10 root canals and an assortment of fillings. My gums were bleeding and that was clearly a problem in my case. Everyone must decide this issue for theirself because this is a major decision. I have some information concerning this issue that I will post.
Avatar n tn I'm in the same situation and I have to tell you the smartest thing you could do is research the KetoDiet, ketogenesis.
Avatar f tn You have to be put on a diet and check ur blood sugars to make sure they are fine otherwise they will put u on meds, so follow the diet plan they give u. And when u get further along they will just monitor the babys growth because gd causes baby to grow larger than normal so if the baby is larger then u will need a csection. I have gd and this is my second pregnancy and I am on a controlled diet but I am having a csection because I had it with my first.
502219 tn?1311361510 I suggest you to get a dietitian (or if your GP or GI are good with this) for a diet plan. Beeing overweight is a strong factor for NASH; with appropriate diet it may resolve and help with some of your symptoms, like itching.
Avatar f tn I read the same article, but it was for a link with Type 1 diabetes or Juvenile diabetes, not Type 2. I have Type 2 diabetes and was diagnosed with it about a month after being diagnosed with Crohn's. My father has Type 2 and had Ulcerative Colitis also.

649848 tn?1534637300 per se, because I believe that our diet is simply what we eat, but for all those who like to have a specific plan to go by, here's an article that might help you decide what to try. https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/04/health/keto-worst-diet-2018/index.html We all know that the Keto diet has become very popular and that this diet says we should limit carbs to approximately 20 grams/day (or thereabout, depending on the actual plan you go by).
921323 tn?1268679412 Especially if you're trying to lose a lot of weight, it seems insurmountable. Any weight loss plan should be undertaken under the supervision of a physician, but it's all right if you take the initiative. Try approaching it by making a few small changes that you can live with and stick with. Try these on for size... 1) Sleep. Studies show that people who sleep more than seven hours a night lose weight as compared to night owls. 2) Eat breakfast. Your mother was right. 3) Drink water.
