Avatar f tn Thank you for your advice. She went to ophthalmologist and retinal specialist. He said her retina is very thin and dystrophyc. The only recommendation for the moment it was the retina nutrition with vitamin tablets such blueberry and avoiding the weight and hot shower. The advancing of the myopia shall be seen only on the next visit after several months or one year. Does exist any other option for feeding the dystrophyc retina? thank you to a comment.
1281603 tn?1283798699 The plan should be to get him to a diabetic wound care specialist for a consultation and recommended treatment. These wound care centers are very good at what they do. Oral antibiotics do not travel well to the extremities and there is no rationale for prophalactic antibiotics. If he needs antibiotic for infection they will probably be administered intravenously.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies, Hope you all doing fine.I'm ftm 31weeks today. I found out I'm preg at 6weeks . I had a job, but it was a contract job and my contract finshed exactly 2weeks after I realised about pregnancy. Then I had a horrible morning sickness,so I stayed at home.My husband is also working, when we both worked we could afford rent&bill...but know I am not working we have a hard time.
Avatar m tn Natia: Your description suggests a cornea problem, perhaps related to your previous surgery. You say you have "astigmatism" that brings light to focus in different parts of the retina and could cause rays, starbursts. I have several questions: 1. Were the 3 doctors you say Ophthalmologists? Were any of them corneal/refractive surgery specialists? 2. Did you have a refraction or glasses test and were you given a RX for glasses?
Avatar n tn Your mother requires evaluation by a wound-care specialist, commonly associated with diabetic clinics. As soon as possible. As of yesterday. Leg wounds that won't heal are common in diabetics (as well as the elderly with compromised micro-circulation) and require a lot of professional attention. The avergae GP is above his pay grade in treating these. There are various approaches, the most recent and (non-approved) is the use of a nicotine patch or smoking a cigarette or two a day.
Avatar m tn I have Type 1 Diabetes with an insulin pump, can i get a job as a nurse in the US?

Avatar n tn t), and this is within your job description, you could ask them to keep a glucogon kit at work. This is an injectible medication that will revive someone who is experiencing severe hypoglycemia and is unconscious. Oh yes, and diabetics should always stay well hydrated in heat. If they are running high blood sugars this is even more important.
Avatar n tn Well, the only jobs I have not been able to get is active military. I was a volunteer firefighter. Now I am a Police Officer and on a SWAT team. No one has told me I can't because I am diabetic, short of the military but that's fine in hind sight. I get along fine with my Humalog/Lantus combo. I keep glucose tabs with me and check my sugar often. Also, everyone I work with knows that I have diabetes. I don't try to hide it and that is best.
Avatar f tn What is everyone's experience with getting (private) disability insurance? I'm currently un-dx, but with clinical sx that support a dx (so far no lesions on MRI). I first saw an MS specialist 6.5 years ago. I'm currently seeing an MS specialist now (in a different city). I've seen recommendations to get private long-term care/disability insurance if you suspect you have the disease, but are not dx yet. What is this process like?
Avatar n tn My issue is my age 39 and initially starting to show signs of uncontrolled diabetes (bad meter false alarm). They explained that there are risks associated with our age set beyond genetics that we are prone to that pregnancy can trigger or make worse. Initially the neonatologist wanted to see me every two weeks inaddition to my ob appt I compromised to once a month and agreed to send my diabetic readings periodically.
Avatar n tn I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. For adequate management of diabetes/ blood sugar levels, it is advised to consult an endocrinologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn I just realized that I haven't seen my diabetes specialist in about three years. On my last visit she "discharged" me to the care of my internist. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 5 years ago, at age 62. My glucose levels are stable at around 110, hB!ac 5.9. I've recently lost 25 kg, do some mild exercise and feel good. I'm taking metformin twice a day (750 mg).
Avatar n tn I suspect it has to do with my new job location (3 miles from beach) where the humidity it higher than where i live. Anyway how can i protect myself from these disgusting looking rashes on my face.
Avatar f tn From your description of symptoms, it sounds that it could be a nerve irritation of back or could be neuropathy due to any underlying disease like diabetes or vitaminbB12 deficiency. People who work for long periods of sitting or standing jobs or do heavy labour work are at a greater risk for low back or disc problems. By the reason of that nerves from the spinal cord can be irritated causing leg pain and numbness, tingling, or weakness in the legs or knee.
7471685 tn?1393400778 I want to commend you, Marie, for wanting to take care of your eyes. Bilberry and Lutein are the primary supplements recommended for eye care. There are some good formulas also from health food stores which contain these two plus others that can make your eyes stronger and healthier. If you find that your eyes have a tendency to get dry, you can use some artificial tears. Systane Ultra was recommended to my mom by our specialist.
Avatar f tn Ah, sorry about the gestational diabetes. I love the attitude your approaching it with though, and have no doubt all will be just fine. Good to hear everything else is going so well. And although those are long hours on the weekend, I would love to do that...get 40 hours in in 2 days and be done with it. How perfect is that. Good to see you checking in, and take care!!
Avatar f tn Please consult an eye specialist to rule out refractive errors like near or far sightedness or the possibility of an axis problem, cataract, problems with retina etc. You need to consult an eye specialist at the earliest. Take care!
Avatar m tn I've been having problems with dizziness since Late June 2010. It feels like my head is being pulled downwards in quick repetitive motions. This started occuring when I walk. The dizziness usually goes away once I stop walking. I'm usually fine first thing when I wake up in the morning. My head usually has this 'buzzed/vibrating' feel to it before the onset of the dizziness and remains there for the rest of the day until I sleep.
