Avatar m tn I am in a "depression class" (thanks Kaiser), and they say memory loss is very common with depression. With all the physical problems & meds to deal with them, who wouldn't be depressed????? I started on anti-depressants after 3 years sober, still very very depressed. It helps for a while, then stopped. I realize my entire life I have been depressed, and now have Fibromyalgia, and take Wellbutrin for that.

Avatar f tn I want to preface I have been diagnosed with depression years ago by two separate doctors. Recently I have gone untreated due to job loss and unemployment, no income. I missed day 21 of my pill (tri-sprintec) and have had some odd symptoms since. I had unprotected sex the night I forgot the pill. I took the pill the next day, around 16 hours late. Two days later I felt very painful cramping, mostly around my uterus but it also felt like it could have been one of my ovaries, the right side.

Avatar m tn My 53 year old husband has had low testosterone for the past year. 100 or so. Monthly shots have done nothing, even when doubled. In an effort to get this figured out, he was recently seen by a urologist, who stated that while testosterone was low, other levels measured were appropriate. They also noted microscopic blood in his urine on 2 occasions in the past 2 weeks. They are sending him for more tests & have said the dreaded "C" word, along with other possiblities.
1616953 tn?1443835511 Depressing things like death in a family, divorce, losing a job, etc will certainly cause depression, it is only natural because you have suffered a loss of some sort. The only difference is the how long this depression lasts. There is no real formula for this but most experts do say that if you have depression for more than 2 weeks than you should seek professional help.

Avatar n tn If you have cut down on fat and carbohydrates then this can explain the weight loss. There are many causes like worms in stool, depression, anorexia nervosa, AIDS, cancers especially colon cancers, drug abuse, infections and loss of appetite. Loss of appetite can again be due to certain medications, drug abuse, depression, AIDS, acute and chronic infections, cancers and hypothyroidism. Either you do not eat well or there is increased metabolism as in hyperthyroid states, HIV, cancer etc.

Depression itself is a major risk factor for weight gain. Treat your depression, get to a good exercise schedule and you will see a reduction in weight.
Avatar f tn I've been having some problems for the last year or two that I am unsure how to categorize. I have memory loss, i.e. My favorite teacher that I'd had for two years was giving a presentation, and I looked at her and could not remember who she was. I knew I knew her, but I couldn't think of her name or where I knew her from. And another time, we were going to my uncle's house to deliver some dog food and we went and made a quick stop there.

284002 tn?1244547555 Hi there, Dythsmia is simply a low grade, long term depression. Underlying depression that most of us don't really recognise as depression and tend to assume everyone feels like you do. So often it is neither diagnosed nor treated as it tends to not be severe enough to cause people to be suicidal, desperate and all the other horrible things you feel when a deeper depression hits you.
Avatar f tn My dr. wants to put me on zoloft 50 mg for depression and clonazepam to help me sleep. Has either or both of these drugs worked for anyone? How about weight gain? Or loss?
Avatar f tn There are no muscle cells in the brain. You mom may have lost nerve cells, but most likely her symptoms result from losing the myelin or “insulation” around those cells. There is no way to replace myelin or lost nerve cells, although the body can sometimes find other already existing cells to do the job.
