649868 tn?1236709970 I am looking for an opinion as to whether PTSD/OCD, OBSESSIONS AND COMPULSIONS, IU AND DEPRESSION can cause a massive heart attack or convulsions.. Whether medication for these stressors can cause death...
Avatar n tn Hey, sorry, I already posted this under the medical community field but I wanted to ask a doctor about this, I guess I'll copy/paste it below: Sooo. I'm a teen who went on vacation and had "panic attacks," at least, to my knowledge. They were just tremendous feelings of fear that I've never felt before, and came out of nowhere. I really thought my life was over and that I was going crazy. I froze up the first time, my heart was beating fast, and felt horribly low.
Avatar f tn I have been sufferring with really bad GERD lately with attacks of ringing ears, heart pulpitations, dizziness, stiff neck, headache, aching joints and tiredness.
Avatar f tn There are several possible physiological causes for anxiety and depression, and should always be ruled out first. Now, they don't usually end up being the cause, but they could be, and some are very hard for docs to find. There are a group of psychiatrists who call themselves functional physicians, and before they get into any psychological diagnosis they act like physicians and rule out the most likely possible physiological causes.
Avatar m tn So many with depression, panic attacks, anxiety, suicidal thoughts. dizziness.. in these days and age, our population has had foods that are altered, non nutritive, and this is how people unknowingly get insufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals that should come from the food we eat. Depression and anxiety could easily come from lack of Magnesium. By increasing Magnesium in your body, your depressive and suicidal ideation should subside and be replaced with relaxed body and mind.
Avatar m tn Hello All, My panic attacks have returned stronger and more frequent. This after no attacks and being off meds for almost two years. Last time my attacks were infrequent and rarely strong. I was treated with Xanax .25mg 1x daily (2x if needed) 10mg Paxil and .25mg Respidal. That worked for me and along with counseling I thought I had my anxiety beat. I had weened off of everything and all was well. Then my panic attacks started to return.
Avatar f tn Yes, this happened to me. Few months back, I was overmedicated. I needed to take a week off the Sythroid and start again at a lower dose. Within just a couple weeks on this lower dose, I felt hypothyroid again. I started having panic attacks that were soo much worse at nighttime. I actually became very fearful of going to bed. I would wake from horrible dreams sweating and shaking. My heart beating very fast and hard.
Avatar n tn I know depression and lack of sleep which I think have been effecting me lately can be causes BUT the kicker is I have been feeling little twangs in my chest (heart side) and when I have intercourse or recieve oral my hand and arm go numb. Also lately my hand has begun twitching and curling up on its own. So as you can see I have a myriad of things happening but I am really worried about the ED (and the heart thing!)--does anyone think these things are related more to my heart and less to ED?
Avatar m tn I can think of few common causes related to the heart, so if you are pursuing the idea that it is heart related, I would not rule out an uncommon cause. As a mere arrhythmia patient, I am ill-equipped to deal with the diagnosis of something out of the ordinary (although there are other among us here whose ideas have really shined in the past). As for a potential common arrhythmia issue, the only thing that comes to mind is some type of paroxysm of tachycardia.
Avatar f tn We can't diagnose you over the internet. If you think you might have a health problem, start with your primary care physician. Lots of things can make you feel symptoms. Anxiety attacks are caused by anxiety cresting, so you feel anxious. You seem to be saying here that you get physical symptoms, and then you panic. It could be anxiety attacks, but to find out you have to eliminate all other possible causes.
Avatar n tn You have undergone a detailed cardiac evaluation, excluding angina and heart attacks. There is no typical cardiogenic chest pain, which is crushing precordial pain radiating to the jaw, arm and neck, relieved with sublingual nitrates. other possibilities for the muscle spasms can be chest injuries, previous chest surgery, possible culprit, any history of athletics, stress fractures , pulled chest muscles.
Avatar n tn s research has shown that people who experience these beats are statistically NO MORE LIKELY to die of sudden heart attack, heart failure or other cardiac causes at an early age. There is a SLIGHT, but negligable, association of persistant ectopics (upwards of 10-25,000/day) causing cardiomyopathy. This is not a common situation however, and if you are under the care of a cardiologist who will check on your symptoms usually annually, this is unlikely and if it does happen is treatable. So...
Avatar f tn it aint something you catch from someone it is more of a mind and physical thing,i started to get anxiety when alot of bad things happened in my life that i felt i couldnt control, there are many physical symptoms involved my biggest symptoms were pounding heart dizzy headaches and like i couldnt breath, was convinced i had a brain tumour.
Avatar f tn I get such terrible panic attacks, i'm close to 33 weeks and this has been throughout my whole pregnancy. Before pregnancy I took medication to help with anxiety and depression, and I try to breathe or drink water to calm down (since I can't smoke anymore) and it doesn't help. It gets to the point where it's uncontrollable. I struggle with bipolar, and i'm so worried about my daughters health when she's born that it gives me more anxiety.
407872 tn?1205115897 I have been having episodes of tachycardia which causes me to have a panic attack. I went to the ER Friday night after 1 hour episode of tachy that went up to 150. The gave me a prescription for Atenolol 25 mg once a day but it does not last the full 24 hours, during this episode I took 1mg of xanax with no relief at the ER they done EKG that was normal. I am scaring my kids to death and my husband thinks I am crazy. I have an appointment with a cardiologist on Thursday.
Avatar f tn An ekg is not very reliable, but offers more help if there is an episode at the time of the test. Psychological causes of chest pain are common and include panic attacks, anxiety, stress and mental duress. If one takes too much of aderall there can be all kind of awful side effects such as anxiety, Nervousness, heart palpatations, headache and more. That could mean you are taking too much, also, there may be a risk with the interaction of other medication.

Avatar f tn The two go together in most people. Sometimes depression causes anxiety, sometimes the other way around, and sometimes, probably most of the time, we have both to varying degrees.
Avatar f tn Depression, Chronic Anxiety attacks and Panic attacks. Panic attacks cause sudden nauseousness. Depression, Anxiety attacks and panic attacks tensed me which released stress hormons and made my arms/legs swell which caused the tinglings and tight feelings. It went on for so long and so constantly I didnt realize that stress/panic attacks caused my body swelling. 2. Due to stress, I clenched my body in my sleep like a shrimp.
Avatar f tn He has recently landed back in the hospital with minor heart attacks. He has been having pain ever since the bypass and has to take a nitro pill to ease it. His Dr did a heart cath yesterday and it shows no signs of blockage. They are currently doing blood test, but have no answer as to why he is still having so much pain and pressure. My question is: If there is no blockage, could the heart have been damaged permanently and can something be done to help it and stop the attacks?
