Avatar f tn I don't think I am in such a depressed situation that I need to relief. Hormonal imbalance will be fixed after my treatment, and what about fibroadenoma, that not too uncommon and not dangerous at least in my case. I just want to know different opinions of professionals not to do something in a wrong way.

1563026 tn?1295035301 I lost enthusiasm and motivation and feel a little bit depressed, could it be hormonal imbalance? i was thinking of continuing with 5htp, because it makes me feel a bit better, but i am worried about my sleep and if this is right for me anyway, because i've been on SSRI which is serotonine agonist, so I am not sure if i need any more seratonine.

Avatar n tn However, I can answer you generally that there can be a link between ovarian cysts and depression. I do not think ovarian cysts cause depression; however if your hormones are out of balance causing you to have ovarian cysts--the same imbalance can be a result of brain dysfunctions that can be linked to depression or brain dysfunctions ie a dysfunctional hypothalamic pulse generator can cause ovulation dysfunction and ovarian cysts.
Avatar m tn everything was fine except for a couple days after my period felt a little emotional and crying a bit but assumed that it was just a hormone imbalance from not getting my period for so long. then a week later i ended up taking plan b as a result of a condom slip-up and didn't know how much of a toll it took on me. that week i felt very off, just not myself. a week later i got my period and started birth control for the very first time from my doctor's orders, which was around two weeks ago.
304970 tn?1331429594 While bipolar is obviously a more severe case than just regular depression I still think any drug you'd take either 1). hasn't been tested on pregnant women or 2). is harmful. So sorry! Are you doing okay?
Avatar n tn adrenal gland dumps excess adrenaline (remember ADAPTION); RESULT=ANXIETY and HORMONAL IMBALANCE The saving grace is that hypoglycemia, even early-stage diabetes when the pancreas starts to give up, is fully reversible with diet and nutritional supplements. Testing for Hypoglycemia Standard medical testing for hypoglycemia is the Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT).
Avatar n tn If that was my only problem I may have been a sucessful quiter but I'm also lost in a whirlwind of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression and it is suspected I may even have a hormonal imbalance although that is still under investigation. My husband and I have tried for a second bub and suffered 2 early miscarriages and a late miscarriage when I was over 3months pregnant.
Avatar f tn I finally have a few abnormally low, and a couple borderline low, hormone tests that i believe support my hormonal imbalance theory. there is also much family history of endocrine/stomach/colon/adrenal/throat/breast tumors(cancerous and benign functional tumors) and/or diseases of those organs in immediate family and those over the past 4 generations, in ALL members all on my mothers side. fathers side is unknown.
Avatar n tn This stuff is the raw material your body needs to replace the serotonin and dopamine that the oxy has replaced and because of that your brain has ceased making it. The lack of it is what is causing your depression. This is a chemical imbalance you're experiencing. Nothing more. Oh, yeah, the 5-HTP? People here swear by it as well. It's a direct precursor to serotonin as well.
Avatar m tn That is the depression talking.I just watched a documentary on depression yesterday at 4am (couldn't sleep due to MY depression ha ha). It was people from all walks of life battling it. From a gang member to corporate execs. You know what, now they can see depression! MRI's can see the activity on the frontal lobe of the brain. I won't go into the mumbo jumbo, I am a nurse and I get fascinated by this stuff but they are on the edge many new treatments that don't involve meds. Hallelujah!
1385504 tn?1279724096 Ok, my story is a pretty long one with alot of points, so i am thanking people in advance if they read to the end :) My hole life has been normal. My childhood, my school days, everything. I then got into a relationship with my first boyfriend (who i am still with). We were together for 10 months when he suddenly told me that we had to break up because of his parents disapproving of our relationship. We ended up going on a "break" for just over a week and then got back together.

Avatar f tn I think there seems to be so much confusion on the internet about what a 'psychiatric illness' is - some reading of real sources will show that a real mental illness is not one that is cured or goes away - the problem is diagnosis and cause - a hormonal imbalance for example is not a mental illness even if some symptoms may look like them, likewise SLE is not bipolar but some SLE symptoms look like Bipolar and vice versa, a brain tumor can look like a mental illness but its not.
Avatar f tn I had two pituitary tumors - one was the prolactinoma and the other Cushing's - both valid reasons for hormonal imbalance and both can cause depression.
154927 tn?1205246451 I'm curious after reading that depression often occurs AFTER treatment has been completed. Has anybody gone through that? It makes me wonder because I would think that I would be happy to be over the therapy.
Avatar n tn About two hours later blood sugar crashes to emergency level; adrenal gland dumps excess adrenaline (remember ADAPTION); RESULT=ANXIETY and HORMONAL IMBALANCE The saving grace is that hypoglycemia, even early-stage diabetes when the pancreas starts to give up, is fully reversible with diet and nutritional supplements. Avatar f tn My daughter is a cosmetologist and she told me the topo causes the hair follicles to close. What has fallen out, wont grow back, but the hair loss should stop when you discontinue the drug. The Topo really messed up my cycle too. I think my adrenals took a hard hit from just two weeks on the drug. For me it was not worth it. I was stupid, depressed and started having panic attacks on it. I would loose blocks of time. Huge blocks.
445783 tn?1279810933 I have mild depression and anxiety, extreme fatigue which I think is hormonal imbalance. I am taking high grade multi vitamin and 50mg of 5-htp at bedtime. The extreme tiredness just started a few days ago. I sleep 8 hours and wake up exhausted and am tired during the day (so much so that my eyes actually hurt). It is making me very nervous. I am not sure what is causing it.
Avatar n tn I have had a hysterectomy in July 1998 and major surgery in August 1998. Since that time I have been on Premarin for hormonal imbalance. The symptoms I have been experiencing lately are joint pain (not localized), headaches, severe fatigue some days, and normal fatigue on other days, loss of libido, and hair loss (once again), dry skin, and jerky motions during sleep. I had been given Clonzepam for the night jerkiness.
Avatar n tn I am sorry it is not that way right now for you. So much of what you describe sounds like depression or a chemical imbalance -- the fatigue and lack of motivation. Also the flare-ups of anger and discontent and then times of feeling good seem consistent with depression. Having been to the deepest depths of depression I empathize with you if this is in fact what the cause of your troubles are. Do you have a doctor who is familiar with depression that might be able to rule this out?
Avatar f tn These compounded hormones do not affect fertility, they are not for birth control purposes, but can certainly help with excessive, irregular bleeding, depression, menopause symptoms and other hormonal imbalances. My heart goes out to all you having problems with the pill. I have a 20 year old, 4 months on the pill, experiencing constant anxiety and depression with anger and bouts of crying over small things. I am helping her find alternatives.
Avatar n tn - stress in the shoulders, making blood circulation more difficult - frequently washing of hands - chemical imbalance due to stress that causes less of the materials needed to keep de skin flexibel and firm. - the body natural reaction in cold to send blood to the more vital parts of the body like the head, chest, etc. But this is just my theory. I think stress is a major factor because it tighthens the muscles and decreases circulation and causes a lot of chemical imbalances in the body.
Avatar n tn I have poly cystic ovarian syndrome /which is a hormonal imbalance, I also have anxiety disorders along with depression..... and epilepsy. could these be related? if so, who would be the best doctor to help figure it out? current neurologists and endocrinologist seem uninterested, but I have read that there is a connection. my medications are topamax recently 200 mg use to be 400mg a day which I realize is allot especially for someone who is as young as I was when I was on 400mg .
