I had the Depo Provera shot back in June and was due for another in September, however did not get another due to its side effects. I did not have a period the entire three months and a couple weeks after I was due for another shot, I have been receiving discharge that's sometimes bloody and sometimes brown, typical spotting not enough for any tampons or liners or anything. I figured because I hadn't been ovulating from the shot my system was just cleaning itself out.
My mom and I were both on the depo shot at one point. Caused nothing but trouble. Nothing that severe, but I had my period but 7 months straight without a break and gained more than 30 pounds. I only got one shot. Ever since then, I've had repeated yeast infections and sometimes, I'll get pain inside my vagina. I'm 16 years old.
but yeah I called my doctor and he denied it being the Depo Provera, said it is probably just a yeast infection and to take some monistat.... though when I get the depo shot I also had a pap which came back with no signs of a yeast infection only three days before i started having this problem... though I didn't think about the fact that I couldn have gotten one afterwards, because of the dryness and what not.
What ever is going on it just has to go away.
I have been cared for by a new doctor for the last couple years now and have been treated continuous for chronic yeast/urinary tract infections, chronic throat infections, chronic bacterial skin infections with several anibiotics and antifungals having no sucess. I was in the walk in clinic almost every week for months desperate for some answers.

I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
Quick question... which Depo are you on? There are two kinds, that I'm aware of: Depo Provera or Depo Lupron.
I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it.
The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.
s not harmful at all. As for the yeast infections, some antibiotics taken over a period of time can cause yeast infections. My mother suffers with these often and she has started taking a probiotic. It evens out the good and bad bacteria in your vagina. Also, if you douche, stop. This rids your downstairs of ALL bacteria, good and bad. And you need the good. I've never heard of anyone being allergic to semen, but I guess thats always a possibility.
I have been on the Depo Provera shot for more than 5 years now. I read that the recommended amount of time that a young woman should be on Depo is only 2 years. I am 20 now and I have been on it since I was 15. I have tried to come off of it once. I bled for about 3 weeks and then got back on it. Currently I have all kinds of pain. Back, kness, neck, arms, and I have migraines. I read about a calcium deficiency when doing research about Depo Provera.
