Coughing blood in morning

Common Questions and Answers about Coughing blood in morning

coughing

About a week ago I started to develop Bronchitis. Then about five days ago, I started coughing up blood in the morning only. I went to the doctor the next day and he seemed pretty unconcerned. I am SLOWLY getting over the bronchitis (The cold id gone), but I still cough up blodd first thing in the morning. It seems to be from higher in my bronchials, because as the cough gets deeper, the blood goes away. I have been coughing rather violently since the night before the blood started.

I am a 48 year old female, 5' 7" 145 lbs. I have had a chronic cough since 1991. My son was born in March of 1991 (after I was told that It would be unlikely that I could have children) and 5 months after he was born I experienced my first episode. At that time I was in California. We moved to Arizona and my cough continued. I began going to doctors about the Chronic Cough in Arizona. I cannot name all of the anti-biotics and steroids and anti-histamines and inhalers etc.
When he does, the coughing is prolonged and intense, then it stops. This morning he was coughing again and some mucus came up with a trace of what appeared to be blood in it. He is a little slower than usual and he still has an appetite, but not the same as before. Any ideas?

On about 5 different ocasions I have coughed up blood in the morning when I wake up. This morning it was a bit different, there was a lil more of it and it seemed to be just blood. Any ideas what this could be? I'm pretty hard headed about going to the doctor. But I'm really concerned now and I think its the best thing to do. The blood scares me, but the way I lose my breath scares me more.
The next day, early morning, i started coughing again as soon as i woke up. This time, there was a little more blood. The day after, i still had the cough(phlegm) but without any blood. And now today, I suddenly woke up early morning around 6am and started coughing again. This time there was something like maybe a total of ten drops of fresh blood in my mucus. I quit smoking completely last weekend and since then i haven't touched a ciggarette. Why then is there blood in my mucus?
Once I'd finished it's left me with a very soar throat and I'm coughing up blood every now and again, it's not excessive amount. I've also noticed that the skin around my left eye had lots of dark red patches and they seem to be all over my face but less dense. I do feel slightly drowsy also. Should I be going to see my doctor on this one or can you explain why this is happening.
After it ended I began couging up a small about of blood. In all it probably measured up to almost a tablespoon, and then ended. The next morning my chest felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat, but could have been from working out. I went to the doctor the following day and he listened to my lungs, did the normal pushing of my stomach, checked ear, nose, and throat, and ran some blood tests. He did not do a chest x-ray, and didn't seem interested in doing one.
Still I feel pain in chest which is more worse on left side, pain just below my shoulder on back, blocked throat,my voice has gone low and i dont like to speak much now as i start feeling tired .When i wake up in morning my hand feels very weak.Sometimes i feel pain in my head, stomach and abdomen as well.I am very scared now as its been more then 4 months now and the problem is not yet identified and i have not taken any medicines.I have not lost weight but lost muscles around chest and shoulder.
Hello, About 2 weeks ago I picked up a common cold from my husband, just a couple of days ago, I've noticed that in the mornings when I wake up, I've been coughing up blood. It doesn't last all day, it's only immediately after waking and I start coughing. The rest of the day my phlegm is clear with maybe a tiny speck of blood occasionally. I feel an irritation and fullness in my throat, although my chest feels clear, and there is wheezing (in my throat).

Coughing up a touch of blood in your flehm is actually fairy common. Your throat can become slightly raw and spots can crack and bleed slightly. Most people when they have a bronchial / larynges infection will cough up yellowish flehm. coughing up large amounts of blood on the other hand is very bad. You will generally throw up blood though as it doesn't sit well in peoples stomach. medications that contain a cough suppressant may help over the short term to help reduce the irritation.
Have not been sick or feeling bad.I am a smoker.Again no cough really only get the urge when the blood pools in the base of my throat. The Dr.checked today and said he didn't think it was sinus trouble.Said he didn't see anything wrong with my throat.Had a chest x-ray.Any suggestions.
My nose seems to most of the time be quite stuffed, so I dont know if this is from dry sinuses or something like that, and there is no blood in the phlegm later in the day, just a small amount in the morning. Within the last two months, I have had a chest Xray and everything was fine on it, as well as hematology, where again everything was fine. This blood in the phlegm is actually starting to bother me, although I assume it's most likely a sinus thing, but cannot be sure.
my sister is a smoker for like 3 - 4 years maybe like 2 a day lately shes been coughing everyday 2-3 time a day and just this past 3 days shes been spiting blood in the morning what can this be we are very worried is smoking the cause of this
blood the only thing different today rather this evening is I brought up mucus followed by blood, the reason I say different is because the blood would only occur in the morning. Perhaps I need a stronger antibiotic? I really would appreciate any advice you can offer.
Same thing happened this morning. It only lasts for 1 /2 hour each time. After coughing up blood the crackling stops I can breathe fine again??
