coughing blood up in the morning

my sister is a smoker for like 3 - 4 years maybe like 2 a day lately shes been coughing everyday 2-3 time a day and just this past 3 days shes been spiting blood in the morning what can this be we are very worried is smoking the cause of this

You said you coughed up a little bit of blood in the morning about two days ago. You also said this has happened before. Perhaps its time to make a doctor's appointment to discuss this. Myself, I would want to know where the blood is coming from and why. Good luck to you.

I woke up this morning and coughed up phlem that had blood in it.... I am a smoker could this be lung cancer? Everytine I have coughed since it was clear mucus I am 29 yrs old been smoking since i was 15. But over the last 2 yrs cut down to a half a pack a day. Someon pls help....

Hello. I've recently had a cold and lately I've noticed that every morning when I spit out some phlegm there are streaks of blood in it. When I started coughing, it wasn't there then but after a few days of coughing really heavily it started. It only happens in the mornings though after waking up. No blood comes up the rest of the day no matter how much I cough. It's been going on four about... I don't know, 2 to 4 days now.

After it ended I began couging up a small about of blood. In all it probably measured up to almost a tablespoon, and then ended. The next morning my chest felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat. I went to the doctor the following day and he listened to my lungs, did the normal pushing of my stomach, checked ear, nose, and throat, and ran some blood tests. He did not do a chesy x-ray, and didn't seem interested in doing one.

Why do I keep coughing up mucus only in the morning? I don't have a stuffy nose either, just this problem in the morning. What is wrong with me?

Im 20w6d and was just given meds to help with nausea because I was throwing up so bad that I ended up coughing up blood. It was just broken capillaries in my throat. Nothing to worry about. But still call your doctor.

I get really scared when I see it, I have been really anxious about this and have actually gained weight from the stress. The blood seems seem to be in my mouth when I wake up, no coughing going on a night, sleep with head propped up due to the reflux...please help!!

I may be wrong, but I believe ERs have to see you even if you have no insurance and no money. You could call the hospital first and ask their policy to save her a trip until you find one that does. I am just a layperson, but her "slipping away" and coughing up blood worry me. The shortness of breath and hand tingling could be anxiety, but the slipping away and coughing up blood I know of no non-medical reason for.

I have been dealing with seeing blood in saliva (tiny specs - one or two, sometimes streaks) mostly in the morning. I have been to the doctors for CBCs, clotting times, have had 2 chest xrays and 1 chest CT scan - all normal per the pulmonologist. Never smoked. Suffer from Gerd but started taking omeprazole when this all started after going to the ER a couple of months ago. I also had an endoscopy done as well as a nasolaringoscopy where only irritation was found.

And I went 4 days of having a headache and then the next morning my eye was fine and then I got in the shower and while brushing my teeth I notice red in my eye, to my shock it was bloody and at the bottom of my right eye, I've never had this before and didn't know why it happened. As the day went on my eye started to hurt and I started to get another headache. Could my eye and headache to related??

I told him that I was not coughing up blood nor had I been coughing up blood. My family doctor then stated to me that I would cough up blood and then it would be too late for me. I have trusted my family doctor for some years, but I felt this was a very negative statement by him to me. He was a bad alcoholic and towards the end the old boy was dying from the booze, p-issing himself, coughing up blood and on his way out. That was a pretty fair depiction of a raging alcoholic. If there is any reasoning left in your friend and he cares at all his first priority should be to start detoxing and then see what kind of damage has been done. All the tests in the world aren't going mean a damn thing if he doesn't give up the booze.

About 10 months ago, I woke up in the middle of the night because my chest was rattling, like it was full of mucus. I bent over the sink to cough it up, and it was pure, fresh blood. Well, if you are coughing up blood, a responsible adult in your life should be told so you can be seen by a doctor. I doubt I have to state the obvious that inhalation of smoke from weed isn't good for you. but coughing up blood is something that requires medical care so you need to talk to your parents about seeing a doctor.

(I smoke about 8-10 a day).Yesterday I did a huge cough and spat the resulting phlegm in the sink. It had blood in it. Not a large amount about 5p/dime size. The actual phlegm was clearish with a green/grey tinge. The blood was bright red. Needles to say, after reading everything online I am now scared witless! I am going to speak to my GP tomorrow. It has not happened since. Has this happened to anyone else and it be nothing scarey?
